Serra Iondri Phaer wrote:
"A font you say? Sacred? Serif or sans-serif, Beagan?"

"Hmmm, this doesn't look like a Qadiran or Kelishite basin to me."

Amazed by the effect of the water on his symbol, he utters a prayer of thanks. "Serra, look! The Big R's liberation cleanses all!"

A thought crosses his mind, and he turns, trying to speak forcefully enough for the rear of the party to hear.

"Hey - I think this is a font of divinish-kind-of-water. It seems to wash icky-nastiness away, so maybe it does that to evil, too. Jurin, do you still have the defaced symbol? Maybe the water will re-holy-fy it?"

He's seen 'special brews' do all kinds of neat stuff, so he thinks it's worth a try. "Or maybe we should wash the crazy guy who attacked us? If he can be saved, maybe the water will help liberate him from evil. Eli, you know stuff. What do you think?" If he can't be saved, maybe the holy water will bring him true justice.

Excited by the action of the water, he reaches up and touches Ragathiel's symbol on the door with his own. He exclaims "I'm here, Big R!" as he tries to open the door and step to see what's inside.

@ Grasker:
Serra seems quite happy to see his squire safe and that it seems that his squire means a lot to him...but no demonic or devilish intents are felt, if that's what Grasker was looking for.

Beagin strides confidently into the antechamber. Having a divine experience with the water from the holy font, he calls out to Jurin about possibly "re-holy-fying" the defaced symbol of Iomedae, but doesn't wait for an answer before turning his attention to the interior door.

With a loud prayer to his god, he opens the door.

Broken stone benches line this narrow room. The air is cold and stale, and thick layers of dust cover the floor, benches, and a large altar at the far end of the room.

Near the front of the nave, a cowled figure sits facing the large symbol at the far end of the room, murmuring, either to himself, or possibly in prayer.

Serra only nods at the gnome's pronouncements of sanctity, not fully understanding what this building holds.

"Tis true the waters hold much power," Serra says disbelieving, placating the gnome. And the barflies from my inn would claim the same from my ales. Jurin was right...I battle my barflies within these walls.

Said for the first time ever: "Jurin was right."

"Careful in that room, Beagan. I have your back," Serra says as the gnome opens the door.

Male Gnome Fallen Paladin 7 / AC 22

As the door opens, Serra's sunrod shining behind him reveals a corner of the room. Tugging on his companion to bring more light into the room, he spies through the shadows ahead. Excited to see what a sanctuary of the Big R actually looks like, the Gnome is about to jump out of his skin with excitement, especially when he sees a praying figure. But as he views the dust and the broken benches, it doesn't look quite right.

He breathes deeply, reviewing the sacrifice of those who brought him here to re-invigorate his courage.

His keen Gnoman eyes peruse the figure in the shadows, as he speaks to Serra with a worried whisper. "There's a guy in there praying. That can't be right after all these years of dust and decay, can it? Maybe Eli or the Elf would know..."

With a nervous, edgy step, he doesn't wait for an answer but enters the room, shield with Calistrian daggers aloft in one hand. His other arm is high in front of him, as he proudly displays a bare forearm painted with Ragathiel's rune in bright, vibrant colors.

"Ho there. Are you a servant of the Lord of Liberation?"

"The Big... R?" The man raises his head, looking straight into Beagan's eyes and right up in his face. Blood red eyes meet his, and surely only "The Big R"'s blessing helps him see through the "man"'s disguise, for surely whatever it is that stands before him is no longer truly alive. He raises his claws to strike, but Beagan is the faster.

"From the lost love of the gods, it's a huecuva! I'd not heard of these since the Othoe Wars!" Serra explains while he maintains his defensive stance. "Back then it was the Huecuva Meredith who was turned by Othoe's influence into forsaking her commitment to Erastil! Cursed she was! In undeath and death!"

Serra's mind goes back to the second Othoe War for Falcon's Hallow.

Oh Meredith! You were once mother to one of my father's allies, Nimeon. Oh we cursed you when you came back...just like Erastil did.

You came leading a pack of zombies, keen and bent on destruction of what you once held dear: family, community, and Falcon's Hallow.

Serra's memory fails him, but he recalls the drinking after the battle and some say it was a silver arrow Nimeon's magic bow that took her heart...just after she had broken Nimeon's with the revelation of her new form.

"Silver? Or magic?! Or both! Try them both if you have them!"

Serra's eyes widen as Grasker evokes holy power from his symbol.

His head ducks and twists, trying to get a good look at it from around the huecuva.
