Command Test: 1d100 ⇒ 37

If I can, I will spend a fate point to reroll. Not sure when you can and cant spend fate points.

Command Test: 1d100 ⇒ 5

Success, with 2 additional degrees of success.

I'll roll for the Intelligence now, I think.

Intelligence (base 50): 1d100 ⇒ 45

Wikvaya keeps consulting the pamphlet as he directs the group, mostly keeping Solar on hand to translate instead of actually making him do any work on the camo suits.

Bookstore Proprietor Librarian Bard

we dont need to roll to assist right?

Male

Because it's such a fundamental task I was saying you just basically all auto-pass your assist

Wikvaya gets 6 degrees of success. So the suits take a total of 7 hours to make, giving you all time for a good night's rest.

@Garion Valkof - You have +10 command so you passed your origional roll and passed by 4 degrees on your re-roll. You can save your FP if you want to just pass and keep the FP.

I'll make a propper post to update everyone when I get home to my books tonight. I really need to update my GM notes so I don't have to say that so often.

Male

@Garion Valkof - I'll leave your response until you tell me which roll you're going to keep.

The group pulls together to create the camo cloaks. Although each one is really a patchwork mish-mash of combat netting and battle worn chameleoline cloaks, they are certainly more useful than they were before.

Anyone wearing a poor quality camo cloak gain a +10 to stealth tests and if the wearer remains still they the enemy receive a -15 to any bs tests against them. If the player's comrade is in cohesion but not wearing one stealth is only +5 and there is only a -5 penalty to enemies bs.

Wow nice bikes and they look like you guys take great care of them. So are you from around here?

He waits patiently on an answer knowing these guys are probably treated worse than his.

As if to confirm Baldur's suspicions a group of guardsmen walk past the natives and openly sneer at them. One of the tribesmen sees them but they pay absolutely no heed.

The older of the two men responds to your questions
"We come from the hills" his voice has a deep almost primal sound to it
"Our bikes are our lives. We keep them well. I am Lightning-Hearted Karth" He slaps his chest as he introduces himself, before reaching forward to shake your hand.

The second man is larger than the first, and watches you carefully. However, he is far to busy eating to speak up at the moment.

What I want, Lioni, is to see our two great regiments work together, in unity, not as disparate regiments from different worlds, but as humans, for Humanity, for Him on Earth! The Emperor strove to unite mankind, not spread it apart with dissent! I would see us embody that ideal, and together be greater than the sum of our parts. I would see you and I, as symbols of our regiments, put forth such a show of unity that our men will be guided by our example, and together, we can take back this planet, break this revolt, and return this would to the guiding grace of the Emperor!

As standard success you get your points across and Lioni will do something about it but she is still irritated that you presume to order her about and that you believe the Iron Guard will break

Commissar-Captain Lioni clears her throat and fixes you with a steely gaze.
"Iron Guard discipline is second to none! I have seen them in much worse situations than this and not one man broke, nor will they."
"The divide between our regiments is an issue that I will personally see to. In this regard, your concerns are my concerns. Any incidents that occur can be reported directly to me and I will see to it that punishment is swift and order is restored."

"Our vehicles are our last machines" Karth responds as his friend finishes his food. He explains to you the workings of his bike to the best of his understanding, which you can tell is a little hit and miss. It is obvious that he has strong feelings towards his vehicle, as if it is part of his family.

Is there anything you can tell me about the enemy that may have been "forgotten" in the briefing we got? Tomorrow my squad and I go among the enemy and I intend to bring them back alive. How many camo suits did we make? Enough for everyone and their comrades?

Wikvaya sighs as they finally finish. "I will get sleep. I suggest you do the same, Solar."

Without another word, the shaman goes to do a short meditation to calm his mind before sleep, hopefully to draw away any nightmares.

Male

The -5 does not apply to the Viribus natives

"We have been scouts for the Imperial army" Karth Lightning-Heart goes on to explain to you a great deal of things that you already know, but shying away from anything that he deems sensitive information.

Assuming everyone has gone down for the night

As day breaks, the Forward Outpost springs to life. Companies and platoons shape up into marching formation and begin to head out, and lumbering tank and artillery columns roar to life. Regimental banners are lifted and the thousands strong regiment begins to break into their separate battle patterns. each heading to their own engagements on the front lines.

The time has come for Shadow reaper squad to strike out on their own into the wilderness. The squad sets off towards the enemy lines, hoping to avoid detection during the distraction of the full Mordian assault.

Male Weapon Specialist; Wounds: 1/12

"Today's the day," Jermaie says aloud, eerily sullen, whilst moving out of camp and towards their insertion point. Today's the day we find out wha' sep'rates our monsters from the Imperial's.

When they do reach their insertion point Jermaie hugs the makeshift cloak closely around him and ceases talking. He closes his eyes for but a moment, but in that second he thinks of home, the horrors and the beauties there and, for all his nervousness and trepidation, he feels comforted.

Bookstore Proprietor Librarian Bard

Cort lurks quietly with his cloak on and bow in hand.

Male

That's 100xp per player for the camp section of the mission.

The squad heads out on foot towards the imaginary line between Imperial territory and that of the Severan Dominate. Throughout the day you see and hear battles in the distance, but remain out of sight.
In the dying light of first evening, as the group moves through a woods your microbeads come to life. What comes through the ear peaces is said in a rushed urgent voice and is heavily laden with static.

Anyone who wants to decipher what is being said can roll a challenging (+0) awareness or a difficult (-10) tech use test

FYI The Imperial Guard HQ that you left from is 70km from the front lines (you can tell this from the map) and your party is moving at 30km per day, based on the lowest agility bonus of the group. You can try to push this but you'll risk taking levels of fatigue.

Male Human Commissar-Wounds 13/13-Fatigue//Healing Leg

Garion keeps low, letting his squadmates who are more familiar with Stealth lead the way.

Just barely made it.

@Jermaie - You don't have the awareness skill so it's at -20

Male Medic [Damage/Wounds 1/13 | Fate 1/1 | Insanity 1 | Initiative +3]

Hurray experience! And we can spend experience any time we wish, is that correct?

"Solar." Wikvaya calls his comrade to his side. He makes sure that the makeshift cloaks cover their bodies. "Stay close."

Wikvaya repeatedly saves Solar from tripping and wandering away and other common 'accidents' throughout the day. When they enter the woods, Wikvaya mutters something about begging the spirits to have mercy on him in Heghland as Solar proves unused to the woods.

The shaman is alarmed when his earpiece comes to life, wondering what's happening but soon remembers what that piece of technology does. Still somewhat uncomfortable with it, he nonetheless listens closely, his years of trying to decipher what the spirits tell him working well in his favor to ignore the static.

Awareness (43): 1d100 ⇒ 4

Male

Yes you can spend the experience whenever you want, so long as it's not purchasing a skill/talent to pass a test of that skill or tallent. IE oh I just failed my awareness test, but wait if I spend my 100xp on the awareness skill I pass!

That's 4 degrees of success

Wkvaya Shoodii:

Wikvaya stares blankly at Solar and smacks him upside the head when his comrade tries to insist that 'fire for effect' means that they're going to burn down a forest.

Male

Common lore war won't do the job, it's military jargon, not something you could have picked up on your homeworld. You'd have a -20 and fail the test by a measly 6.

That's a very successful test Cort

Cort Darfrain:
465-746 is a point roughly 300 meters south-south-east of the squad.

Male Medic [Damage/Wounds 1/13 | Fate 1/1 | Insanity 1 | Initiative +3]

Oh! It's Common Lore {Imperial Guard} not just Common Lore. I see. Darn.

Wikvaya may not know what exactly 'fire for effect' means but he knows it doesn't sound good and that it's definitely not burning down a forest.

Bookstore Proprietor Librarian Bard

We need to move as far north as we can! They are targeting just to the south of us!

Male

There is a distinctive whistling noise. None of the Heghlanders have ever been on the receiving side of artillery fire before but you have seen enough vid feeds during basic training to know the sound.
This is infinitely more terrifying than any vid feed.

Male Human Commissar-Wounds 13/13-Fatigue//Healing Leg

By the Throne, everyone move! Double time!

Garion will begin moving, waving everyone on and helping anyone who may nees it, making sure he is the last to break for safety. He will shout out words of encouragment and bark commands to hustle.

We are to maintain vox silence, right? Or is it safe for me to contact the Mordians?

Male Weapon Specialist; Wounds: 1/12

At the first of the shells begin to impact, Jermaie finds himself almost dumbstruck. "It's... we're.. what? Oh, buggering..." It feels as if heaven is screeching at him.

It takes the Commissar's shouts and Narine's pushes to wake him out of the stupor. He begins sprinting through the foliage, almost blindly, simply following the man ahead of him, making sure Narine's always close behind. He doesn't even have the breath to yell in panic.

Fisking Iron whores. Run you dogs run for your lives.
Does his level best to lead his squad out of the kill box. Running at an angle away from the designated fire point. Run faster or we will end up like all the rest they have killed.

If they work the way real arty does they will drop one shell high one low to make sure they have the area bracketed then they will blow the holyhell out of it. Phil is there anyway Eirik would know to "save/record" that arty call?

Male

@Eirik Baldur - That really comes down to the target. In meta, I'm OK with telling you that's not what's happenning here
Combeads don't work that way. If you had a vox-opperator you MIGHT be able to record it. I'd suggest lookinhg at some of the alternative classes in Hammer of the Emperor towards the end of this campaign. However, you have the word of a commissar, that should be solid.

@Garion Valkof - Your marching orders are to maintain vox silence. You are well withing friendly teritory, however everyone knows that the devide between imperial and dominate teritory is much fuzzier than the line on the map suggests. The final decision is up to you

The first round lands in a tree behind the squad as they start to run, exploding in all directions. It would be beautiful if it wasn't so deadly. The detonation is swiftly followed by more and a swiftly increasing radius is bombarded.

Could I get an athletics test from everyone please. Anyone who passes can give me a difficult (-10) awareness test

Cormaeg looks up at the sky. He expects to see these things that are making such noise but he can't. But because of the training he knows what it means, and coming from that direction he knows what it implies.

Cormaeg bellows incoherently, a large roar that barely gets over the whistling of the bombs. In his rage he runs forward, trying to throw his comrade ahead of him but he slips up and Cormaeg stumbles.

He shouts up at the sky. "I will not end like this."

Garion is too focused on getting the squad to safety, as such he is lagging behind, and does not notice whatever is there to be noticed.

As we move Garion will continue to listen on that channel, attempting to discover what the artillery spotters have seen, whether it be us or if there is another target in the vicinity. If it appears to be us specifically they are firing upon, and Corporal Baldur does not disagree, Garion will respond back over the Vox.

Mordian 14th, Cease Fire! In the Emperor's name cease fire! This is Commissar Garion Valkov, Heghland 1st, Shadow Reaper squad and I command you to cease bombardment, you are firing upon my frakking position!

Command: 1d100 ⇒ 76

1d100 ⇒ 40

Im hoping thats how you wanted me to do that. The roll may not be needed, if Garion cant find out if they are targeting us, or Baldur says not to break vox silence, but if it does come up there is my roll.

Male

Cormaeg doesn't completely get out of the way of one of the blasts and takes damage: 1d10 ⇒ 9 pen 0 to location: 1d100 ⇒ 63 the body.

I'll use Coemaeg as an example of how to deal with recieving damage for everyone. Usually the hit location is determined by reversing the tens and units of the to-hit d100. A double means your comrade is hit. Cormaeg takes 9 damage - 5 for his plate armour and - 4 toughness bonous = 0 so no wounds in the end.
