How odd.

Korriban, note Teodor channeled for 13 hp, so your current tally should be 34.

Teodor has done almost all he has but he should be flanking for both of you next round. Let's take her down!

I just caught that, Callie. Thank you.

Let's do this! We have Teodor to aid us.

Congratulations, all!! That was great, and it was (at last) the final fight in Book 2. I feel like we brought it right up to the edge of disaster, but it came off great! Look forward to some good old R&R (rest and role playing) for a bit.

Also, congrats on breaking 4000 posts! Especially to Teo and Korriban, who have been here from post 1.

One one hand, I hope it's not too surprising to you that a professional storyteller would want to seize an opportunity to tell a great story.

On the other, I think it's hilarious. Callie needs her ego checked from time to time, and it made for a good scene. PBP wise, you got to read the thread first. Player wise, no harm, no foul. :)

Lantressa's player--I presume you are just playing up the fear for drama's sake, but you ARE aware that the deafened condition does not make you also mute, right? You can yell, scream, speak--including words like "hey, I can't hear, I can't hear!"--you just can't hear yourself doing it. (That's why you're not prevented from casting spells with a verbal component, there's just a (relatively small) chance of failure.)

Like I said, I'm just assuming you're just having fun roleplaying a good ol' dramatic freakout, but I wanted to be sure you realized your character is physically capable of fully communicating what is wrong, if you/she wants to.

Yes, I realize all that but in this instance she isnt in a position to see anyone is there and Koriban only said he spoke to her, not that he touched her or did something to get her to realize someone is there. It is an old fashioned freak out.

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

I've updated the loot sheet for all the recent discoveries. Lots of good stuff here. There's a LOT of cleric-y stuff but I don't want to dominate the loot. Perhaps Callie should get the CSW wand, since it's in her spell list and doesn't put all of our healing eggs in one crazy basket. I'd love the scythe and the headband. Scrolls and incense for group utility?

That's a nice rapier for Korriban or Callie. Belt of constitution would be good for anyone, especially you melee types.

Which reminds me: we talked about replacing our tank a while back. I think that's still a good idea. We did amazingly this time but it was definitely obvious nobody was exactly a dedicated melee tank.

Thoughts?

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

Yeah. That rapier would be good for me. However, if Callie wants it and gets it, I won't argue about it. The belt would be good for the melee fighters. I would say Callie should get it since she has the least amount of hp.

Also, in regards to our tank: Teodor, didn't you say that you have a friend who was interested in joining us?

Finally, I have decided that when I retrain into evangelist, I'll become a evangelist of Milani. It does seem like the best option for me in terms of story, rp, and party composition. Becoming an evangelist of Milani seems like it will help out the party with buffs.

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

You do realize Teodor is going to give Korriban even more s+** for stepping into evangelism, don't you? Heh heh heh ...

Human Bard - Arcane Duelist 9 [ HP: 41/57 AC:22(21) T:14(13) FF:19 | CMD 22 | Fort +7, Ref +11(10), Will +8 | Init +4 Perc: +8 | 1st/day 7/7, 2nd/day 5/5 3rd/day 2/4; Perf rds 21/25 | Disruptive I message, see invisible 90 minutes, haste 8 rounds (from 9)

My bonded weapon and weapon focus weapon is longsword, and I don't care to retrain for one new item, so the rapier is yours if you want it, Korriban. Eventually I'd like to upgrade my sword to +2, but I also have some flexibility since I have the bladethirst ability.

I would indeed like that Belt of Constitution of no one else wants it. I'll also certainly take the wand if Teodor doesn't want it as yes, I can definitely serve as backup healer when needed.

As for recruiting a new tank... I think we can do ok with what we have as a party, even if we are a bit fragile, but I'm also fine with recruiting someone--especially if they fill in our few skill gaps (like Survival, I think) as well as can serve as a damage sink. My only concern is I do have a melee focus that I don't want to lose entirely... my character is very much support based, yes, but I want to be melee support, not be shoved to the back casting buff spells. But I don't think that has to be an issue.

If we do recruit someone, all I ask is folks look at the prospective players' posting history so we get someone who is unlikely to flake out.

As long as he doesn't throw those stones in a glass house, Mister Evangelist. ;)

I can take the rapier. However, is it a upgrade from my +1 silver rapier?

I'm also good for a new player. I also agree with Callie's recommendations in regards to their posting history.

Male

Thanks for updating the loot sheet, Teo! Been meaning to do that. Korriban, whether the rapier is an "upgrade" or not is a bit subjective--silver is more useful against lycanthropes and some other creatures, but human bane is very powerful against humans...and there's a lot of humans in Korvosa!

I am in agreement with Callie that we don't NEED need a new player, but I'm not opposed to one. I'm definitely not holding an open recruitment, though. Been burned one too many times there...if anyone knows someone interested who has a strong record of PBP games, I'd be happy to hear from them!

And finally, I'm calling this the end of the chapter! I don't mean to cut off any roleplaying or similar (and you guys should feel free to keep roleplaying if you want), but I like to mark the "official" ends of chapters somewhere, and this is pretty much the last thing that needs to happen in nitty-gritty detail before you all get some much-deserved downtime in character. Congrats on coming out at the end of book 2!

You can also all bump up to level 8! I know these last couple of levels were quick...that's partly due to a leveling discrepancy between the old 3.5 rules and Pathfinder. With you guys at level 8 to start book 3, we're officially "caught up" to the Pathfinder edition. Enjoy! ;)

Leveling probably won't happen until tomorrow for me but as far as the loot goes the bracers are the only thing I definitely would like. Depending on what the robe is it might be useful too.

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

Teodor is leveled. No huge changes this level. Learned a language! Have we encountered anything we couldn't read or understand? If not, I'll just go with Celestial.

+1 to skills and BAB/attacks. One more spell a day for 2nd and 3rd levels. Wisdom +1 from 4th level and +2 from the headband.

Items that should go to someone:
+1 Mithral Chain Shirt (Korriban or Callie, surely)
Potion of Barkskin
Amulet of Natural Armor (Could be good for anyone, melee or someone who just has a low AC)
We've got a spare Breastplate +1, but none of you can use it. Maybe save it for a theoretical incoming tank?
That Robe ...need it identified but that's probably a Lantressa thing.
Cloak of Resistance +2 (good for anyone)
That Belt of Constitution +2

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

For a bit of flavor, Teodor has named the scythe. Totul Moare. Romanian (and thus, Ustalavian) for "Everything Dies."

I already have a +1 mithral shirt, so the new one should probably go to Korriban.

As noted I will happily lay claim to the belt of Constitution, and will go ahead and add that to my character sheet if everyone's okay with it.

Since I'm getting that, someone else should get the cloak of resistance (maybe Lantressa--higher saves for our blaster sorcerer is always good).

Lantressa if she doesn't have a source of natural armor already should get the amulet. I've got a spare potion of shield of faith, so Teo or Korriban should have the potion of barkskin.

On the breastplates: I popped 1 in my inventory to sell or use later (which is part of the total count, I believe). Yes, we could save it for a 5th party member, or Callie becomes able to use and cast in medium armor at 10th level (although I don't know if I want to deal with the ACP, but we could hold onto it for times where avoiding damage is more important than her hopping up onto and snuggling with statues).

Working on leveling.

PS: Teo, you should probably hold onto the scrolls, unless you want to rely on Korriban's Use Magic Device to use them.

Okay, I am all leveled up. I added the wand of cure serious and the belt of constitution to my character sheet as well (which added a nice hit point boost).

Level up notes:

BAB boosted to +6 -- woo, iterative attacks! Will and Reflex saves boosted.

8th level ability score increase to Strength. She got a good workout clinging for dear life to that statue.

Gained bardic performance: dirge of doom; 2 more rounds.

Gained 1 new 3rd level spell--went for utilitarian dispel magic--and used my human favored class ability to gain an additional 2nd level spell--versatile weapon

Raised Acrobatics, Intimidate, Knowledge Arcana, Knowledge Local, Spellcraft, and Stealth.

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

Okay. Let's see...

Loot:

So, I will take the +1 human-bane rapier and the +1 mithral shirt. I didn't realize that the mithral shirt had no ACP. I can also take one of the masterwork clubs so I can have more diversity with my attack types. Callie can take the belt of constitution. I think that Lantressa had already laid claim on the bracers a while ago if we can upgrade them. She can also take the amulet of natural armor, the cloak, and the robes once we get it identified. It doesn't matter to me if either Teodor or I take the potion of barkskin. As for the breastplates, we should keep at least one for either a fifth player or for Callie to keep and use in the future. We can also sell all of the breastplates. It really doesn't matter to me. Also, did we sell the daggers, light crossbows, chain shirts, and shortswords from the wererat's lair? I also still have the lockbox with the diseased coins that we found in the toymaker's store. It's still on my alias. What should we do with it and it's contents? Finally, I am interested in the eversmoking bottle, if only for smokescreens and Batman disappearing tricks. :)

Level Up:

I still have to level up. However, I did say that I wanted to retrain my levels. I wanted to become an unchained rogue, change fighter archetypes from lore warden to free-hand fighter, and to become an evangelist of Milani for levels 6 to 8 (retraining two levels of fighter in the process). From the retraining rules, that would take time and money to do.

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

Btw, my buddy I'd earlier suggested works in comics and is about to hit travel season. I say we recruit someone.

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

And no Barkskin for Teodor. He's not comfortable with nature.

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

Then I will take the potion of barkskin. I'm still working on my in game post.

Male

So, as far as retraining goes...there is a significant amount of downtime between books here. I'm thinking we can play it out on roughly a week-by-week basis, depending on how long you guys are willing to wait before diving headfirst into this "quarantined Old Korvosa" situation to rescue your friends. If you wait till the plague has fully abated, it will take 4 weeks. Of course, those are four weeks to heal, (re)train, gather info, etc.

As far as Korriban's retraining goes, I said before that you can switch Rogue to UnRogue for free, and I stand by that. As far as other retraining goes, here's how I think it works...

2 levels of Lore Warden ---> Evangelist: 5 days/level (the classes align) = 10 days. Cost: 800 gp (400/class level)

Lose 1 level of Lore Warden archetype: 5 days (only 1 class feature remaining, Scholastic). Cost: 400 gp.

Picking up the Free-Hand Fighter archetype is free, since you'll only have 1 level and it doesn't introduce any class features until 2nd level.

I know I said you could swap out Weapon Finesse for Dodge for free, since UnRogue nullifies WF.

Was there anything else? If not, it would take 15 days and 1200 gp.

Male

More generally, are people down with taking a week-by-week approach to the downtime?

Male

Oh, and that magical robe is a robe of bones (the Guard can ID it for you). It still has a human skeleton and a wolf skeleton attached to it.

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

Okay. Thanks, Norv. I would also like to RP this retraining, if possible. Also, I'm okay with a week-by-week approach. If the others want to do something different, then I'm okay with that as well.

EDIT: I'm also thinking about selling my crossbow, since I haven't used it much. Should I do it?

Human Bard - Arcane Duelist 9 [ HP: 41/57 AC:22(21) T:14(13) FF:19 | CMD 22 | Fort +7, Ref +11(10), Will +8 | Init +4 Perc: +8 | 1st/day 7/7, 2nd/day 5/5 3rd/day 2/4; Perf rds 21/25 | Disruptive I message, see invisible 90 minutes, haste 8 rounds (from 9)

I'm fine with the week-by-week approach and the stuff I outlined in my IC post can certainly split into week-based activities.

Callie would probably also go do some storytelling/performances in the streets or a tavern. Including a modified version of the recounting of what happened in the dungeon. Not immediately making public accusations (she doesn't want to start a riot, she does want the people to start questioning things)... but a tale of "a" city with "a" plague and corrupt cultists behind it, and several heroes out to end their evil...

Thanks Lantressa--I've got a cloak +1 myself, and my thought was someone else like you should get the +2 one since I'm taking the belt of constitution which boosts my Fortitude save.

If no one else needs your +1 cloak, maybe we can sell it. An extra 500 gp never hurt anyone.

The robe of bones, being mostly used up, isn't probably worth much--but the problem with keeping it is you can't automatically control the creatures summoned with it. Maybe we could use up the charges (using the wolf and human skeletons as target practic) and save the remaining masterwork robe to be enchanted with something else later?

Teodor doesn't have a cloak. He'll take the +1 if possible.

I noted on the loot tracker that I took the wand of cure serious.

Is there also an unclaimed potion of cure disease? I'll take that--I can always keep it in my haversack and whoever needs it can grab it.

Is the gold tally we have accurate?

We can sell the breastplate I'm holding onto... by the time we're 10th level we'll probably have access to better anyway.

That's true. We might have something better at 10th level. Also, that would be a pretty good haul if the gold tally is correct.

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

I updated the loot chart a bit, according to Lantressa taking the cloak and the amulet and us selling 2 of the breastplates.

I've saved up ...I can finally afford a ring of deflection! Is that something Teodor could find to buy?

A ring of DEFLECTION? Or of PROTECTION? Your friends may object to the first...

I added Callie's share of cash-out to her sheet (which combined with her prior wealth comes to 1632 gp and some change). (Just realized I need to remove the breasplate from my haversack as well.) So here are my desired purchases:

- potion of fly (750 gp)
- 2 vials holy water (100 gp)
- 2 tanglefoot bags (100 gp)
- 2 vials antiplague (100 gp)
- 2 vials weapon blanch (silver) (10 gp) (while I learned versatile weapon, these are cheap enough it's worth having as backup)
- 1 vial weapon blanch (cold iron) (20 gp)
- Deck of cards (half decent, normal deck, so let's say 5 sp)
- 2 flasks of oil (2 sp) (for Callie to have fun with spark)
- 2 loaves bread (2 cp or more if food is scarce)
- 2 hunks cheese (2 sp or more if food is scarce)
- 1 lb apples (2 cp or more of food is scarce)

That would leave me with 551.06 to save for better things later, or buy the inevitable potion or other item I have forgotten I should have later. Let me know if these things are available. (Given the state of Korvosa, ironically some of the alchemical or magic items might be easier to find than the food.) And why does Callie need a pound of apples? To keep the doctors away, of course. ;)

Also, I didn't post it, but can I retrieve the daggers I tossed at (presumably) Andaisin? If not I'll buy four more.
