Also, Mr. Wo, I sent you a private message including the copied and pasted code from Ozz's profile to use as a template to put in all of your information. Please update your character's profile with all of your information (do the build at level 2, things might be adjusted from there still. We'll see) and post here under that Alias with a...
[ dice=trinket ]1d100[ /dice ]
... roll (remove the excess spaces so the code works).
Susano-wo |
sounds fine by me. he plays by PC rules, then he oughta be illegible for Inspiration :D
(and thanks for the alert, I missed that I had a PM) I started a profile on openoffice, using Adrians, I think (though I looked at Ozz and Trissae's) but I figured I'd finalize that after I saw how it looked on the forum profile page.
Grellik |
Ok, the profile's up, though I'm doing a more detailed write-up for the circumstances of everything. I'll post it spoilered on the profile when I'm done.
trinket: 1d100 ⇒ 84
84 A receipt of deposit at a bank in a far-flung city.
That is an odd one. Not sure how I got that one:P I'll have to think of something. [oh, maybe its in his masters name and is to a safe deposit box? It may never become relevant, but its something :P]
Oh, and can I use my monies to buy a book instead. I figure he has a basic instructional tome that he studies while he tries to practice what he was taught by his mentor before he died to prepare him for EK next level. (or maybe trade in some other gear, since it looks like its 25gp for a book >.<)

It might be worth flipping through some of their other monstrous humanoid avatars to see if anything looks better. I had the same issue getting one for Mornak in their Hobgoblin ones.
So, as far as Grellik's catch up story, I was thinking of just doing a "Meanwhile" cutaway spoiler in our posts, so they would be hidden from Trissae and Adrien until you guys catch up and share stories. At that point you would be free to go back through and read all of the "meanwhile" spoilers.
THAT, or we could just PM each other back and forth and Grellik can just verbally give a recap. I think it would be more interesting, story wise, to do the spoiler option though. What do you guys think?
Adrien Cavell |
Yeah I like that too. otherwise that bit of story would be lost for those of us who will be going back and reading this over again a year from now :]
GM Grey |
Okay Grellik. Amongst your belongings list a leather bracer as you described. The bracer appears to move somewhat, when seen from the corner of someone's eye. It also provides advantage to swim checks as it floats supernaturally well. (List this however you would like in your character sheet).
Also, feel free to post as Grellik now, even in discussion. You might want to just make it your default alias for now.
Grellik |
Yeah, I was figuring I'd make it up. The Order of the Golden Unicorn. their device is either the right facing white head of a unicorn with a golden horn and mane, or, in cases, such as a banner of the same order, where there is more room, a right facing Rampant [like the stereotypical lion] unicorn, with golden hooves, horn mane, and tail. So, gold and white colors.
Their code is in purity and devotion. Their members are expected to conduct themselves with proper conduct at all times, to be bastions of Law and Honor among all people. I'll work on getting a motto, etc. :D

Oh this one was from perusing the monstrous humanoid section. Jll give it another look but this one isnt so bad :). So odd that you cant upload yiur own avatar
Re armor:oops! Its my chain shirt from being fighter though i mkght buy "chain mail" for when im not sneaking
Yhe only thing i can think of i need to cover is i need to finish my spell picks
Grellik |
oh, hey I just realized/remembered that you provided a map, and discovered that it doesn't have all the locations of the map I was using>.> so for my dialogue

So the book states that generally magical items' keywords and effects are discernable after spending time with the object for at least a short rest, but has an optional variant that details on the object/knowledge checks/trial and error can be used instead to figure it out, rather than the freebee short rest identify.
Do you guys have a preference on which of these we should use?
(Also, Grell, that map is baller)
Grellik |
I personally don't like the idea that Joe Fighter can just "know" what a magic item does, so the variant that allows you to suss it out without just giving it to you is nice(though I guess the first could simply be handwaving over the latter[As in, you could assume that that is what the characters are doing to figure it out. I think the latter has better flavor, though)
And yeah, I like that map a lot
BTW guys, do you have any ideas or preferences on how your characters relate to Grellik> For instance, I can see Adrian not taking much liking to the former knight at first, given how he feels about pomp, circumstance, and the nobility in general, but warming up to Grellik's sincerity. And I imagine that Grellik respects Trissae's dedication, but does not share her optimism that the public will ever be accepting of them, or look past their race.
GM Grey |
Hah, okay. One vote with two abstaining. I prefer the figure it out style as well. Probably still doable during a short rest.
Investigate, insight, arcana, and perception are all valid checks, maybe with history as one usable if you've got a detail worth history checking (I guess the same goes for any knowledge skill). You can also try any amount of "I hold this and try to put will into it (prompts a saving throw?), I hold it and jump up and down, I hold it and... etc etc etc.
Ozz the Bog Ghost |
I'd like Ozz to be fond of Grellik, but be far too dumb to really converse with him to any real degree. Think of someone totally cool with just hanging out and small talking about stuff that he is able to grasp. Magical theory makes his eyes glaze over.
Grellik |
Though a thought just occurred to me. I'd been opening all the spoilers still, since I wassn't in the group yet, and the stuff only seems to be spoilered to keep a double blind information split between Trissae and Adrian when they are apart.
But, since I am in the campaign and my stuff is spoilered for them, should I not open the spoiler tags?
GM Grey |
You guys think you have it bad. The campaign starts and it's: "Shit. I guess I have to learn everything about Yartar."
Last night, it was: "Shit. I guess I have to learn everything about Skullport."
It's pretty cool actually, I'm finally learning the setting enough to play in it confidently. They've got some good material to work with.
Grell: HMMM. Well, originally you were sampling the wares of the campaign to see if you dug it, which I suppose you do... I wasn't originally planning on censoring you from the main plot line as what you are doing is essentially just to tie in, but as I get closer it might become prudent to censor the rest as well.
Okay, from this point on, just ignore anything not in Grellik's Story, even if it isn't censored, because I can see some big things happening soon that will play nicely if Grellik isn't informed by it in the least (Kinda like how Trissae roleplayed being a wonderful person while Tease and Adrien argued in the other cell about the lengths needed to go through to save her life since she's such a treasure, that was fantastic). Once you catch up with them and are able to exchange stories, it'll make for a fun present to get to read up on everything that has happened.
