I know, Nalun. I've started Legacy of Fire on these boards twice, and never made it to the first encounter site. I've started Carrion Crown twice, and made it about halfway through the second book once, and not even out of the starting encounter on the second run.
The only group I'm in that's been going longer is, ironically, one of the APs that is least popular - Second Darkness. We started Book 4 not long ago.
Lyla
That's funny: that Second Darkness campaign you're in was the first game I applied for here in the forums! I didn't get in, but I learned a lot about creating characters for PbP. :)
Nalun Elzrahar
Yeah, I didn't like this one either, it was kind of a let down after the cool location based adventure that was Lords of Rust.
I'm not big on massive dungeon slogs either, and even when I told the party that the Tower itself was a big waste of time and gave them the hints in game that would lead them to the next location, they still wanted to go into the Tower.
I was planning on doing Doom Comes to Dustpawn in between Choking Tower and Valley of the Brain Collectors, but there's no point now. They've caught up in xp/loot from the tower.

I think this part of the AP suffers a bit from the writers wanting to get as much of Numeria covered as they could within the constraints of the page count. The tower could have worked, but man it's a slog. Floor after floor of looting a wizard's tower was not what I signed on to do in this AP.
Add to that the fact that the first part of the third book is pretty much a retelling of the first book, and the makings for a subpar module. Although I think Iadenveigh was foreshadowing the events of The Thrushmoor Terror with some of the stuff in its backstory and POI.

TOTAL: 21,553gp
Selling value (divided by 2): 10,776 gp, 5sp
Split 5 ways: 2,155 gp, 3sp each
------------------------------------------
--1 composite longbow (+3) with 20 arrows (300gp, Nalun)
--2 Healer's Kit (party resource, Lyla)
--5 plague doctor's masks (immunity vs blood veil) - keep 5 in case we ever need them
--1 flask of curses (no market value)
--1 potion of remove disease (lyla would like to add that to the formula book, after that it can go to party resources)
--+1 human bane rapier (8,320gp, Nalun if he wants to, to replace his +1 mithril rapier which is worth 3,320 gp)
--An amulet in the shape of a mantis' head (+1 Amulet of Natural Armor) (2,000 gp, Karri)
--+1 Mithral Chain Shirt, (2,250gp, Demitri)
--7 potions of cure moderate wounds (Lyla would like to have one)
--+2 cloak of resistance (4,000gp, Lyla would like that, unless someone calls dibs)
--+2 periapt of Wisdom (4,000gp, Ortik)
--Wand of Cure serious Wands (party resource, Ortik. The old wand of CLW could go to either Lyla or Karri, given their UMD ranks)
--3 Incenses of meditation (4,900 each, Karri)
One more thing Lyla: spent 750gp on the potion of remove blindness, but since that was not consumed thanks to alchemical allocation, the potion was not spent, so it's now party resource. If you don't mind chipping in, that would cost 150gp each. :)
Please take a look at the loot list and see if you have any other suggestions, if you want to keep something I put on the sell list, or sell something I put on the keep list.
Lyla
Cloak of Resistance adds to saving throws, not AC. That's why I suggested that Karri could get the Amulet of Natural armor, to boost her AC. Although her saving throws are not that good, either. You can have it, if you want to.
@Karri - On a side note, looking at Karri's sheet, I can't see the loot from previous combats, and she only has 138 gp. Are you keeping the sheet up to date?
Another thing... I was wondering if we shuold sell the incense. Maximized spells are nice, but the incense requires 8 hours of in-game prep, so maybe we should sell one or two of them... what do you guys think?
Lyla
Ah, got it. Karri keeps the cloak. I still think she should keep the amulet, too. Characters who cannot wear armor need to slowly build up their AC, even if it takes lots of items. It has the advantage of stacking with mage armor. ;)
Selling two incenses means another 980gp each.
Demitri Severin
Well AC is binary but Karri can have decent enough AC so where the lowly mooks can miss her which is huge. I think I want one of the magical breastplates. Though I wouldn't mind the amulet either. I think that Ortik should take the Headband of Wisdom.
Lyla
@Gm Dragoncat: here's the equipment acquired during downtime, see if that's ok:
Buy
--Headband of vast intelligence +2 Associated Skill: Escape Artist (4,000gp)
--bag of holding type I (2,500gp)
Formulae added to formula book:
--endure elements = 10gp
--darkvision = 40gp
--Invisibility (Demitri has one potion, I'd borrow that one) = 40gp
--Remove blindness = 90gp
--Remove disease = 90gp
--Water breathing = 90gp
These potions are not spent thanks to the formula alembic.
Total spent: 6,860 gp
Sell
Leather armor (10/2) = 5gp
[edit]I'm selling one healer's kit for 25 gp in order to have enough for a bag of holding. That's 5 gp plus for each of us. :P
Lyla's remaining gold is 4 gp, 5sp, 9cp

Retraining!
5 Days to retrain a feat at a cost of 10x6x5=300GP
Nalun works with the Korvosan Guard at becoming more accurate with his Rapier. Swapping Furious Focus for Weapon Focus rapier
Nalun had 1929GP saved, and then adds 2487 from this adventure's spoils. So now he has 4416GP. Minus the 300GP he pays a few of the guardsman to train him...he has 4116GP
Nalun finds a Ring of Protection and buys that, leaving him with 2116GP.
GM, how much are homes? Nalun is tired of renting a flat.
Dragoncat
In that case...
A house in Midland would be in the part of that district called the Slope. It sits on the eastern slope of Citadel Hill and overlooks the Jeggare River & the West Dock neighbourhood.
Renting a house there would cost 100 GP per month.

I liked it! I knew that the plague was a Red Mantis plot from the beginning from my run of RotRL, so that part wasn't a surprise. I always enjoy seeing the recurring characters you bring in - it means a lot more when it's a character we know and we're personally involved with that has something bad happen to them, rather than a character introduced by the AP for the express purpose of having that bad thing happen to them.
I think the only real communication break down occurred when we didn't take a moment to breathe between the investigation of the Direption, the manor house scene, and the assault on Doctor Nicholas Cage's Develaus' infirmary. We were running on fumes there, and I think some of us thought we were more rested than we were. We survived, but it probably got lost in the shuffle. Maybe we should start including the in-game date in our posts, just so we're all on the same page on when this is happening?
Also, I assume you're aware of the new reveal of Rolth's identity put forth in the revised CotCT? >:)
Ortik Gutterrat
Actually, I'm not sure if we know that or not - I'm mostly speaking above board. But we did find that serrated blade on Doctor Develaus' corpse, and an unholy symbol of Achaekek, so it wouldn't be a far leap in logic for our characters to make. Assuming we know about the Red Mantis Assassins, that is.
As for Rolth...let me PM that.
