When Dennis arrives at the warehouse, his entrance is blocked by a huge blade of deadly, spinning blades. He can sort of see inside, however, and is able to make out a massive, glowing warrior, wielding a giant sword, fighting a vile looking Marilith, armed to the teeth with a variety of weapons.

The warrior does not appear to be overly hurt, but the demon has several nasty looking wounds

Pretty sure my spell can't reach, so gonna take out the other demon near us

Ace, infused still with holy power, strikes out at the lone remaining Vrolikai.

Full Attack:

1d20 + 36 ⇒ (8) + 36 = 44 for 1d6 + 25 ⇒ (3) + 25 = 28

1d20 + 36 ⇒ (4) + 36 = 40 for 1d6 + 25 ⇒ (5) + 25 = 30

1d20 + 31 ⇒ (6) + 31 = 37 for 1d6 + 25 ⇒ (3) + 25 = 28

1d20 + 26 ⇒ (18) + 26 = 44 possible crit.

1d20 + 26 ⇒ (12) + 26 = 38 Crit (unless they have a higher than normal AC) for 2d6 + 50 ⇒ (2, 1) + 50 = 53

All attacks overcome DR as I am Smiting.

And the previous post is an excellent example of why you should not ever ever ever use the feature that lets you put the name of what you're rolling for in the dice roll (ex <dice="perception">, replacing <> with []) because it messes up reply horribly and always has. Please, please don't do this.

Edit: And of course then the example gets deleted. Well, the problem is still there and as someone who uses reply A LOT because I'm interacting with so many different plots at once I really do hate this particular bug. Whatever your original roll was when it gets replied to it tries to reroll it over and over and over and over if you do what I described above.

Dennis arrived at the warehouse and sized up the situation.

"Professor? I see a bunch of spinning blades, some guy standing in a pool of blood fighting a thing with lots of arms...some kind of demon. There's some kids cowering in the corner it looks like, but they can't get out...and there's a dead kid in the street," he added sadly.

This isn't about magic. It's about managing your own mind and learning to protect your thoughts so that coming in contact with the thoughts of others doesn't damage your mind. Those techniques are universal regardless of the source of the ability that allows you to make contact with the mind of another sentient being."

"Mr. Repparyn, I am afraid you have to leave now. Melody has made her wishes in the matter plain."

"Yes, you are quite right. Well, have a good morning ladies." he says genially, with a deep bow. "I hope whatever is troubling you is resolved Melody." he says with a warm smile.

Ginni gives Miss Jones a strange look. It wasn't like her to use a student's first name if she had any choice in the matter.

Perception:1d20 + 21 ⇒ (17) + 21 = 38

She noticed that even though the overall effect is put-together that Miss Jones was not dressed as neatly as usual. Her scarf was tied at an angle, her hair was starting to come slightly loose from it's pins and there's a run in one of her stockings. She overall just seems to be distracted.

"Umm....are we okay to do this now?"

Image

"Yes, it's fine," she said crisply. "I will walk you through it while you help Miss Waverider. I think that's best for everyone in this situation. Let me know when the two of you are ready to begin."

The last Vrolikai can feel that Something is terribly wrong. After the burst of light, it has felt nauseous, of all things. Nauseous! A demon is nauseated. It also knows that if it dies here, it dies for good. The strange human that just struck it so viciously seems ready to repeat the action, then there is the confounding monk who seems invulnerable to everything and literally squeezed its fellow to death. I know when I am overmatched. Perhaps I can finish my mission if I can escape these for now. It flies to the portal, slipping back to the prime material plane where it flies back through the broken window and turns towards the closest edge of town.

Ace, you can take an AoO as it moves. Vai, I am assuming you teleported closer to the portal rather than deeper into the Abyss, and you may also have an AoO. Phaezeriel and Fei are too far away from it.

Vare, the Summoner wrote:

"He said that, did he?"

Vare had finally been re-united with Rena, after a somewhat frantic bout of searching on both of their parts, and now they were both in an empty teacher's lounge, discussing their previous evenings while Vare studied his patchwork spell book at one of the desks. To anyone who would enter, it would appear to them that he was convering with the air, or perhaps with himself. "And what do you think? Would you like to be a student here? I could give you a humanoid form, if you would like that."

Vare grimaces at bit at that, remembering the events of the previous evening, and says with an uncharictaristic amount of sarcasm in his voice. "I'm not sure if the Headmaster would allow us to speak if you were a student. He seems rather touchy about that."

With the additional students that would be reporting into her class come Monday, Karish had decided it more prudent to spend her Saturday making sure everything was in proper shape for the increased class load. Thankfully the school's systems, or magic, or whatever ran the arrangements had been exceptionally cooperative, and she'd spent most of the morning thus far experimenting with configurations and consolidations, looking for the construction that would serve her needs best while providing both the space and the resources necessary for the greater volume of students.

All that said, as much as she was enjoying the new discoveries unlocked, and all the more so with each new idea or attempt, the time had come to take a rest for a while. Not long, just some time to stretch her legs, perhaps get some food and make conversation with other teachers or even students if any happened to be in for some extracurricular study or practice. Predictably though the halls, at least along her chosen path, echoed her footsteps emptily, and her presence was unanswered by another until she reached the lounge.

Another teacher was there, crouched over a tome and deep in conversation with someone... despite the room being empty besides him. Karish knew that feeling, answering to voices or emotions only you could hear or receive, being forced to answer or acquiesce to demands transmitted directly into your mind. She left Vare to his conversation without a question, first retrieving an apple from the icebox then taking a seat not too nearby. Her teeth - black, long, and sharply pointed - didn't look like you'd normally associate with someone who'd enjoy eating fruit, but that didn't seem to stop her. Likewise, despite any of the natural or artificial lighting in the room nor her location in proportion to it, the heavily-scarred woman appeared at all times to be sitting in the dimmest available light, as if draped in a slight perpetual shadow.

Lang while meditating attempts to find the spirit of avatar Voltair. but he quickly discovers the passage to the spirit world blocked.

He exits his trance.

my access to my past lives have been blocked. from what I remember reading that means only one of two things, first, I am no longer the Avatar, or two we need to find and enter the inner sanctum of the temple as that would be the only place entry to the spirit world would be possible.

so let me test the first theory. Lang first attempts to air bend creating a blast of air toward the fire bowl in the center.

if that is successful he then empties some water onto the floor from his waterskin and attempts to form the water whip that Dom showed him.

assuming both are successful I can still bend so I am still the Avatar that just leaves option two

The Half-Alive Streets | Truth of the Seeker | The Sanctuary of Drowned Delight

As the group bound to try to negotiate with the shinobi depart from the school, there is a certain peace about the air, in spite the chaotic and deadly happenings a few miles down the hill in the township. The position of the sun in the mid-morning is enough to determine the easterly direction they are to head. The smoke from the town soon is blocked by the light forest into which the group walks.

Midori in particular seems to have trouble with the forest - she always seems to be searching for a place to hide. Kitty in particular knows this behavior - simply seeking to avoid being ambushed, and being able to setup your own ambush if necessary. Standard shinobi stuff. Midori hasn't quite gotten out of those habits in her short time at the school it seems.

The morning is pleasant, for the most part. There is a slight chill, as summer is slowly drawing to a close, but nothing that require even a light jacket. The forest itself is abuzz with activity, animals and insects going about their business, nothing about this threatening in any way. It may be Kitty's natural empathy, simple luck, or perhaps the strength of the gathered people, but no predators find their way to the group. After about an hour or so of the pleasant walk though the forest, the sound of a river rushing slowly begins to build, indicating they are near to their destination.

The treeline breaks about 10 feet or so from the river canyon. The river has cut the earth some twenty feet here, and it is about that far down in a sheer drop to the rushing water. The sun is almost at it's zenith now, being about 11 o'clock or so in the morning, and the river glistens in the sunlight. Some distance to the north, a wooden bridge can be seen that crosses the canyon. The bridge itself is a solid construction, with thick beams that extend the 30 feet of the canyon's width.

The group turns and makes it's way steadily towards the bridge, arriving in a scant few minutes.

Perception checks please (you may PM me your bonus and I will roll it for you secretly if you'd like). List other applicable senses such as scent as well, please.

While walking along with the others, Tryko'Sam apparently ..stayed in the 'back', perhaps to keep his eyes on everyone else, or perhaps just not the sort to want people behind him. Basically-- he didn't strive to be up front for one reason or another.

For the most part, he kept walking along, looking ahead mostly, while saying little but clearly seeming a bit-- ready. Anticipation, or nervousness, unless people actually checked him during the hike, with a sense for his motives, the guess would be, nerves. Thankfully (or not), he didn't talk much.

Vare looks up from his spellbook - which actually appears to be a whole bunch of smaller papers glued together - giving the ringbound book a very 'patchwork' looking appearance. The pages stick out from the edges of the book in a very odd way. If Karish had taken any more than a passing glance though, she would've seen spells written in there, often times across several pieces of different paper stuck together.

After a moment's looking about, Vare does in fact notice the woman seated in the darker area of the room. He smiles and bows his head to his new companion. "Good morning." the young man says evenly. He appears to be no older than twenty-three or so, human. Clean-shaven as he is, his hair is something of a disheveled mop, though it does not appear to be dirty or matted or anything else that would indicate that it is improperly cared for. His brown eyes never seem to focus on Karish. They seem to look in her general area, but never looking her in the face or eyes. It's a bit disconcerting... and perhaps even offensive depending on how sensitive she is to being 'examined'. "I do not believe we've met. I'm Vare, I teach Conjuration and related topics at the school." he says, again evenly... perhaps just a little harshly as well, as if his humour weren't the best at that particular moment. He hasn't stood from his chair, but rather turned in it to look at the other professor.

She stays floating a few feet off the ground, knowing that unlike the Fly spell, this current spell will not set her down gently if it becomes dispelled. "It's getting dark..." she notes. Whereas it was morning at Avalon, it seemed to be late evening here. It was not something she was used to, as an Agarthan. Still... this would provide her an advantage.

From behind the group, Tryko'Sam clears his throat and says, "Call me paranoid, but .. I think we might have incoming. I just saw-- a red and orange angelic winged, along with other dark figures moving towards us." He points in the appropriate direction as well.

"Get ready to ..fight?" On that note, he slows his movement a bit, getting ready himself.
