Nasima Shearskye |
'Sima looks at Keme. She laughs weakly. "Yeah. Ryleh. I don't..." She gives a huge sigh. "...I'm sorry. This is just too much. I can't believe everyone put themselves on the line for me like that, Khoda was just...I mean, when I see Vai, trapped in his...tendril like that..." The slyph tears up, and her voice gets scratchy. Percy hands her a handkerchief.
"Thanks, Perce."
Nasima Shearskye |
"I'm just so grateful, Keme, is what I'm saying. You know? I owe you all my life. And all this time, you were there...watching over me...even as I...I slept?"
She looks at him with her mismatched eyes. If he peers in really closely, Keme can see the faintest traces of scar tissue around the left one, just a tiny ring of imperfection on her otherwise alabaster skin. A reminder, perhaps.
"Could you see my dreams, Champion of Hope?" she asks, the left eye glinting.

"I had to. Sparkly unicorns and all. Khoda kept attacking you in your sleep. You almost fell for it once. That's why I gave you the charm, to make it easier to keep track of you. So I could be there at a moment's notice if anything went wrong. That was my job. Although as jobs go, this was less onerous than some others," he said with his usual cocky grin. There was definitely something odd about that eye, but he didn't want to say anything in case she got all freaked out again. It was nice seeing her more relaxed.
Kitty Tanaka |
Kitty Tanaka wrote:"That sounds extreme. He called it the foot-up-arse cure," she said with a mostly straight face."Sounds much less extreme than amputation." Jerak agrees.
"Only because I'm not the one who came up with the cure, dear."
Kitty laughed.
"That sounds like something my Okaa-san would say."
Keme Tokala |
Keme sighed, looking aggrieved. "I'm just misunderstood," he pouted.
And then winked and laughed.
"Yeah, yeah. I get it. It sounds creepy. But when your patron orders something, arguing is just wasting your breath. You can feel free to take off the charm whenever you like. And I'm done with the spying on dreams since I'm pretty sure you don't need a bodyguard in your own head anymore."
Nasima Shearskye |
She gives him a sincere smile, and takes off the charm. She hands it back to him, making sure her fingertips brush his when she does so. A small electric shock thrills through his hand.
"Well. I'm glad my unicorn dreams didn't turn you into a girl or something." Nasima says, and there's still something about the way she talks now, an aggression that wasn't there before, that's becoming more and more apparent as the hours go by. More obvious, too.
"Sifu Daiyu. I guess I'll need to hit the advanced class even-"
Nasima Shearskye |
Nasima looks stunned, then glances over at Percy and Fei. The former shrugs, the latter gazes placidly back at her. She opens her mouth to speak, seems to think better of it, then simply bows deeply to Chen Daiyu.
"Yes, sifu." She sips her tea, and there is a moment of silence which Nasima once again breaks. "So, who was throwing fire nets? That seems...out of character for who was there. And was Enre so easily captured? I thought that guy was like a tank or something."

"I think our families are going to get along famously, Kitty." Sylvia says after a laugh. "Maybe we should join you on the trip. I'd love to see the sea myself."
"Mom, please don't..."
"I can ask if you would like. I'm sure my Otou-san and Okaa-san would not mind."
She smiled.

"I honestly have no idea where the fire nets came from. Though we were all grateful for them. And Enre is a tank. But he's better on solid ground. And those things....they were strong. Way worse than we expected."
Kitty Tanaka |
"Kitty, you realize you aren't helping... right?"
"That would be wonderful, Kitty. I'd like to get a little souvenir for the kitchen."
"Of course I'm helping. I'm very helpful. I'll send a letter home tomorrow and let you know what they say. We can't go next weekend because of school activities, but we're planning to go the weekend after that."
Kitty Tanaka |
"It would be safer to stay here at this point..."
"Not at all. More targets means less time spent tormenting you specifically."
Nasima Shearskye |

'Sima nods. "I understand. That's...yeah."
Kitty Tanaka |
"Still safe if I'm not there."
"Not. Really." she said through gritted teeth, somehow managing to smile and glare meaningfully at the same time.
The Dalesman |
"Yeah, Fei; it's alright. Come on." Nasima's heart is hammering in her throat -- whatamiDOOOING?! -- as she steps forward and takes Fei's arm, pressing it up against her to move the big monk along. It was something she'd seen her mom use on courtiers and officials to marvelous effect; always got 'em to move.
She then loops one arm around Fei's and the other arm around Keme's and sort of hauls them along down the hall, pausing only to give Percy a brief, terrified-but-exhilarated look.
For a brief instant, the young monk seriously considers absorbing the energy and simply not budging, but as Nasima's emotional state seems to govern how her new powers are manifesting right now he thinks better of it.
Resignedly, Fei accompanies them up to Sifu Daiyu's classroom.
Fei, of the Sun Soul |
"Okay, so everybody sit and I'll explain," he said, plopping down onto a mat and waiting for the others to do likewise before pulling out a small top.
"It's not like anyone ever trusts what I say anyways. So just watch."
He spun the top and above it the events that occurred during the fight with Khoda played out, including sound.
When it was finished, he picked up the top. "As you saw, Phaezeriel did cleanse the energy that was given to Nasima. My theory is that the energy is used to being Khoda shaped as it were. It will probably take time for Sima to gain control of it and make it part of her."
Fei sits and quietly sips some more tea as the events in the Storm plane play out in the air above the spinning top. He notes (with some concern) the events concerning the 'black rift'.
He also notes the more aggressive tone to Nasima's parlance with the others, inwardly agreeing with the Sifu's assessment that she needs to restart her meditation classes. If her power has a semblance of Khoda to it, so too would her personality. Hopefully, as was postulated, both would harmonize with time and meditative centering.
He puts the empty cup down and fluidly rises from the mat. "Thank you, Keme - it is good to know what happened in the Storm plane."
"As it is getting late, it would probably be best for all involved to take our rest for the evening - we still have classes in the morning, and this day has been most...taxing...for us all," he says, bowing deeply to the Sifu as he says that last part, then bowing quickly to the others.
Keme Tokala |
"Well, now that I have this back," he said, tossing the silver charm in the air where it disappeared, "I should be able to catch up on the sleep I've been missing. I'm looking forward to it."
"Sifu will definitely be able to help you get a handle on this stuff, Sima. Umm....you might need to take a few more days leave of absence from your other classes. Just a thought."
Fieri Sunwake |
"Are you feeling any better about this now Fi?" Vai asks quietly. She felt a little guilty about the way she had reacted initially, and was sitting beside her sister on the beld holding her hand.
"Yeah," Fieri said with a shaky smile. "Jiminy was right. It's not the timing we would have picked, but it's going to be okay."
"Oh, man. Three boys and only one girl....I am gonna be so outnumbered."
Krays |
Krays notices the amused Phaeze, but says nothing. Who knows that a telepath picks up?
"So, Tamara. You all liking Avalon so far? What was Jegarth like?"
Ephebe |
Phaezeriel turns to Ephebe, and speaks to her alone, his voice full of barely contained amusement.
::So, Ephebe, how long have you known Nasima?::
::Since my first day at Avalon. She's the first friend I made here. So, a few months...wow, it really does seem longer.::
Vai Sunwake |
Vai Sunwake wrote:"Are you feeling any better about this now Fi?" Vai asks quietly. "You have an Aunt to help at least. Though I think with that offer I'm gonna have to count myself with the outnumbered. But we just fought a god... how hard can raising kids be? Right?" Vai still sounds incredulous.

Fieri laughed. "Have you heard some of the stories about what James and his siblings were like growing up?"
Ehos Denulia |
Ehos Denulia wrote:"Well, that was weird." Anthony says as he follows his elven friend. "Even for here, I think. I can't remember the last I saw something like that."The whole situation was confusing, and though Ehos was enjoying the view, he thought a discreet exit was key here, and slowly began to sidle away from the scene.
::Which part? The half-naked girl or the room half-destroyed?:: Ehos says with a smile. After all, Anthony shouldn't be getting into girls yet, but that was certainly what Ehos was thinking about.
Tyrrin Denulia |
Tyrrin Denulia wrote:"Considering that event granted my brother the power to accidently murder a theater full of innocent people, not very positively. Why do you ask?"

"Because it will be a defining moment of these times. Anything that happens, good or bad, will be attributed to it. At least until something much worse happens."
You notice that Morgans actions seem to be off somehow.
"So far, it looks to be mostly bad. I'm not sure the beauty of the new sky is worth the cost. That is yet to be seen."
Vai Sunwake |
Fieri laughed. "Have you heard some of the stories about what James and his siblings were like growing up?"
"Only a couple. It sounds terrifying... wait. Are the babies going to be firebirds or...?" Vai says with a strange look on her face.

"Based on the scans, it looks like dragons with some firebird traits."
Aanandareavekki |
"You should start fireproofing stuff soon then, Mom? Can we fireproof all of the students? That might be needed."
"It was already on my to-do list because of Ephebe's babies so, yes, that's something I'm working on.....you make a good point about needing to fireproof the students, Vai."
Phaezeriel |
::She is being rather .. mm .. friendly with boys today. I assume one of them is this Keme, and the other is that monk that is so painfully polite to everyone. But I never said a word.:: Phaezeriel has a distinctly mischievious look on his face.

"Given what has just happened, he is right, Fei agrees [(o.o)!!!!] with a small nod. "While you may not need to stay in the Infirmary, it might be wise to have your new-found energy...monitored there until it has properly acclimated to your body."
Phaezeriel |
::Fei would be the monk? I definitely do not want to start trouble in your family. I am just waiting for Nasima to go to sleep to end this collective. I am pretty sure she would be fairly embarrassed if she suddenly realized I could hear her. It sure is entertaining in the meantime, however.::
Phaezeriel has broken out in a full grin, all his very sharp, silvery teeth showing.
