With the arrival of the new security team, Ryo was once again called away to deal with his responsibilities as the headmaster. Quiet settled over both house and school as the night passed in relative peace.

She remembered getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. And to change her completely ruined dance costume for some comfortable pajamas. And she remembered that Krays has stayed there beside her bed the entire night. She opened her eyes and looked over. Still there, although he had fallen asleep with his head resting on the mattress beside her. She had tried to convince herself that it was stress, that she was imagining things. She bit her lip. This was complicated. She was terrified. This had gone so very badly the last time. She sat up.

Her movement was enough to wake him. "Good morning," she said, smiling shyly.

"Er...we need to talk."

Yet another outift joined the others on the floor and she glared at her closet as if she suspected it was holding out on her.

"Stop laughing," she growled to her familiar. "This never happened. No one ever needs to know I spent this much time getting dressed for a lunch date. Aargh! It's not even breakfast yet. How pathetic."

Kitty sat at the breakfast table in front of her miso soup, the spoon literally frozen in midair as she had totally zoned out, most of the way asleep. Saffire cavorted across the table occasionally stopping to beg for scraps of tuna.

Miss Jones sighed as she went through the mountain of paperwork. So many of the other teachers had left and now there was more paperwork for all of the remaining teachers...she really needed to talk to the Headmaster about the possibility of some sort of system that would cut down on the need for these forms...or at least more amanuensis scrolls to be made available.

After a deep and dreamless sleep, Khassar takes Nexiv to find the cafeteria. He's hoping they have gator but anything raw would be fine.

He got a few odd glances from the staff when ordering raw food, but they were able to accomodate his request, although they didn't currently have gator.

"That's kind of embarrasing, I'm sorry. I wasn't trying anything while you were sleeping...I just dozed off. Did you sleep well?"

"Yeah, surprisingly well. Thank you for staying with me," she said, unable to stop smiling. Her heart was racing again. As if she needed any more confirmation of what had happened.

I don't want to say because I'm terrified that you'll leave or that there will be too many complications or.....the thing is....well....I've imprinted again. On you," she blurted out, watching him warily, afraid to see his reaction.

Gets up at the crack of dawn as usual, for katas in the garden...

"Not used to staying up late, are you?"

"Ummm.....Krays.....something happened last night. I mean, other than the kidnapping and rescue....after that. I don't want to say because I'm terrified that you'll leave or that there will be too many complications or.....the thing is....well....I've imprinted again. She blushed. "I...well, I didn't. That's kind of how imprinting works. Before I imprinted on you I thought of you as just a friend. But now I....I love you......It's okay if you don't feel that way about me. Please don't leave me. If you just want to be friends that's okay....I'd need a few days away....at least until it stops hurting, and then things would go mostly back to normal. Please don't go away....even if we can only be friends, I can't picture my life without you in it," she spoke quickly, and by the end she was barely managing to blink back the tears that kept threatening to fall.

Vai wakes up, stretching and yawning. She feels more rested than she has since, well, years in the least. Looking at her mirror, she smiles at herself. She didn't even change last night. She wonders if she can use her magic to clean herself and her clothes. Focusing for a moment, she lets her instinct guide her as it did last night, and her hands make the casting motions and poof. Clean. Her hair was even brushed! A little giddy, Vai leaves her room and goes out into the hallway, making for the cafeteria.

"Hey, once you're awake, you want to go with me to get Professor Sunwake's signature? I went around and got permission from all of my teachers who are still here so I could head home for a bit. I tired to get you permission too, but... that didn't work."

He hugs her back...and gives her a sly look.
"Can you shoot me with an alter self? I don't think you'd like my old elf form much, if I could even still muster it. That's so not who I am anymore..."

Her eyes widened as she considered the possibility and then she grinned. "You know, I do believe I have a few of those bullets...and I think that could definitely work."

She grabbed her Caster from where she'd hung it on the bedpost and carefully loaded the shell. "Well, here goes," she said, taking aim and shooting him with an Alter Self.

"Hey, once you're awake, you want to go with me to get Professor Sunwake's signature? I went around and got permission from all of my teachers who are still here so I could head home for a bit. I tired to get you permission too, but... that didn't work."

She leaned in and kissed him gently on the lips. And blushed again. "That was my first kiss," she admitted, shyly. "So I should probably apologize for not having any idea what I'm doing."

"Of course. Now let's go see Professor Sunwake about those permission slips so we can go visit your family and I can see adorable and embarrassing pictures of you as a child," she said, barely containing her laughter.

"I don't care how fast you are, I will be burning those pictures before you can see them." Michael tells Kitty before he goes to put their trays up. "You know I'll have the home field advantage."

"Yes, but your parents will totally be trying to stop you. I bet they would just love to show me those pictures. And tell me all the stories that go along with them," she said, eyes twinkling.

"Hi, Professor Sunwake Um, do you have a minute please?".

She paused on her way to eat her rather large breakfast. "Oh, hello, Kitty. Well, a minute is about all I have. I'm on my way to eat and then there's a whole lot of last minute preparations for the memorial service later this morning. What's up?"

"Um, actually, I think I figured out why Kitty keeps being forgotten by everyone, and we want to test it out." Michael says as he hangs back a bit and avoid eye contact. "My home town, Anderail, seemed like a good place, and you're the last teacher we need permission from to go."

"Oh, and she needs a sign from you telling the cleaning staff to stop clearing her room out, if you can make one."

I got that," she said, pulling up a thin sheet of rock from the floor and inscribing it with the words 'Please do not clean out this room. Occupied.' "There. Hang that on your door, Kitty. They'll be certain that I wrote it since it's in rock."

"Thank you, Professor." Michael says as he hands over the permission slips to be signed. "We'll let you get back to working on those preparations now."

"Hopefully I got the height right..."
He blushes...
"Mine too. That was really nice...may I have another?"
