The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

What? If it works, Adon is cured and uh, he can totally be friends with Sara and Kitty.

If it doesn't work, he's sorta be like Bunnicula, and that's BADASS.

Bunnicula.. oh the memories.

male human gestalt fighter 15/duelist 9, rouge 5, monk 1

Actually... No, it wouldn't work, and adon would stay dead, unless someone like grim or krays orders the resurection. The deities don't want to aknowlage he exists.

Shadow Lodge

Because he's outside their influence.

male human gestalt fighter 15/duelist 9, rouge 5, monk 1

Prettymuch, yeah.

Shadow Lodge

Hmm... direct magical assault won't work... but something that isn't a psionic power or spell would.

I know how to do it. I just won't. :)

Eventually, even su will be blotted out...
Ki fails too, it's been tried.
Oh, and it skrews up high-tier tech too.

See me a pm if your idea though.

Nothing like a good sword, eh? ;)

Shadow Lodge

The creators explicitely state it is (Ex), even working in antimagic fields. I'll keep to myself though, just for s and g's.

M Extrodinaraly Contrary Meatbag Fourm pyromancer 1

Ok then. Cool, whatever it is your talking about.

Shadow Lodge

I'll think about it. It may be just the kind of thing for Adon later on. To learn, that is.

that is up to lynora. if it is a magic effect, then it should not work. but it may be a technology effect (nanites) and then i have no idea.

EDIT: and now i see it was already answered. le sigh.

I feel like there are people waiting on resposnes from me, but for the life of me I cannot remember.

I have triumphed in my battle versus the desk. So, you know, it's all assembled now. I'm good at ready-to-assemble furniture and this was out of control. Also I can't feel my hands. This is a good thing. I am not looking forward to when I can feel them again because I'm pretty sure all those blisters and such are gonna hurt.

Anyways, apologies on anyone who was waiting on me. I needed to get that done before I could go to bed cause the pieces were scattered all over the living room.

Tybs, apparently the telepathy is starting to work on you. :)
Icehawk, I have no idea why you think that idea won't work. It was the first thing I thought of when I read the PM with the summary of the idea.

Does two posts from Johnny mean that Spugs is back? Or just toying with the idea? I am kinda confused at the moment.

Anyways, I'm gonna go take a shower and get ready for bed and all that and then hopefully catch up on the scenes that are waiting on a response from me. Unless I fall asleep. It's been a long day,

I'm wondering if I'm getting tired of RP.

I sat in my RL champions game last night bored to tears having a hard time staying awake.

I like my character. The group is great, although one tends to want to RP every little thing that happens, dragging out non-sequitor conversations as long as he can...interjecting into other's time with the GM ("oh that reminds me...") so on and so forth.
Normally I'm the kind of person who would call it out so that it didn't become a problem, but I didn't care enough to do so.

I dunno.

I have the occasional D&D night like that, not gonna lie. I just attribute it to burnout (I play RL twice a week, so it can be a little much at times).

What about the boards? You still seem pretty into this game at least, or is interest in that fading too?

It could just be your RP group, or a number of other things.

Male Drow (noble) 14 Ranger

No, this game is fine.
Interest wans from time to time, but that's with all games I reckon.

First step in diagnostics: isolate the problem.

Maybe it's just the limited scope of RL games? I sometimes find myself frustrated in RL games that I don't have time to think about my responses (beyond maybe 10-20 seconds), whereas compared to a game like this, you have minutes at the very least, maybe even hours or days.

It's also possible as noted that maybe it's just the style of that particular game/group/etc that isn't for you anymore. People change, it happens.

Male Human Gestalt: Binder 16, Wizard (Enchanter) 6

ARRRRR! -not a pirate Arrr... but a frustrated one....

I miss my phone..... btw back...

going to wade through gameplay now... (287 posts.... grrrr....)

Male Drow (noble) 14 Ranger

Dunno.
I started a new job in November that takes a lot of my free time with after hours and on-call work. About every other week or so, I have very limited free time.

I think I'm just starting to resent choosing to spend that free time watching 1 person out of 8 roleplay for 2 of the 3-4 hours we meet every other week.
The rest of us handle incidentals in e-mails to the GM.
Ugh.

I really don't want to quit the game. My character is fun, and I like how his powers are progressing.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

In that case I'd definitely talk about it with the GM and/or the player causing the problem. It's not fair if they're monopolizing the GM's time during sessions and that seems like a fair problem to want to fix.

Male Drow (noble) 14 Ranger

Indeed. The 'injustice' of it drives me crazy, but I'm feeling very apathetic about trying to correct it.

I apoligize to all those on the Sun expedition about the delay but Lang will always put the concerns of his friends first and Sara really needed help.

I hope we can find a way for Grim to help also Its better when friends work together to help each other.

perhaps Grim could help delay Grama from crossing over long enough to allow Sara to see her one last time.

Lang really has no ability to communicate with the dead except his own past lives.

What's wrong with being an accountant???! :P

Spugs, I certainly meant what I said about you being welcome to stay. And if you want more action for Johnny, that's a request that can certainly be accommodated. The weekend provides an excellent opportunity for Johnny to run into the person who will kick off the storyline that we had planned at the beginning. But I really don't appreciate this passive aggressive thing. There are different play styles going on and different things that make different players happy. If that's what makes them happy there's no reason you can't skim over them. There doesn't need to be a lot of drama because you dislike someone else's style.

Male Drow (noble) 14 Ranger

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

Can I get an assist here?

Tryin to get straight all the various relationships and whose related to whom via marriage, family, etc.

I know the basics, like Vai and Fei, Kitty and Michael, etc.

I'm looking almost for a family tree, preferably for the Sunwakes and Del Sols. Though others wouldn't be bad, even if its just friends.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Sunwake family tree:
Ryleh --> only one living biological child, Aananda. Ryo, Keaton, Adsila, Ormarr, Razzule are all adopted into the family. Ryo has three small children, Matthias, Tal, and Gwenne. Aananda is married to Tamrin Sunwake. They have three biological children and one adopted child and two more biological children on the way. Ephebe, Taron, Jiminy, and Vai. Ephebe is bonded to Krays and they have four eggs who will hatch in the next few months. Taron is bonded to Kamenwati and they have three eggs. Jiminy is bonded to Fieri and they have four eggs. Vai is dating Fei. Ardiente is the grandchild of Ryleh's deceased son, Chan.

del Sol family tree:

Sorchan del Sol was forced into an unwilling marriage of highly questionable legality with Apolla Helios. Fieri is the result of their forced pairing. Sorchan married his childhood sweetheart, Pyra Charbonnier, even though the firebird council refused to recognize it as a legal union until after Fieri was abjured. Sorchan and Pyra have three children, Raelle, Ignace, and Chara. Sorchan had a strained relationship with his parents and he's outright disowned them after what they did to Ardiente.

Also of note: Ryo's wife was a hunter who died.

Lysander is in the family too, I think through Ryp's wife but not sure.

Hm.

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

So through Jiminy aka James and Fieri's marriage/bonding, the Sunwakes and Del Sols are linked, correct?

I left because I was getting rained in at every turn yet "Pancakes or french toast" post get a nice green light of dullness wile you deal with 10s of PMs from [I will not say who], asking aboutevery minuscule detail.

I have get to get an apology from said player who wasted days of my holday waiting for, for yet more "nothing" game post.

Sorry Lyn I don't care if you don't like it but I will tell you the truth, I get told to hold back and stop to make way for dullness, sorry but I WAS here to have fun not read over endless biennial f***ing posts about, what some one is eating, If i hear once more how good the sushi is, or "Hay I got you some nice Ham and eggs" WTF! or endless talk of how nice someones dress is, or hay hows maths today, The HEAD gm sets the style of play, its why you rained me in, you want dull you got dull. Me I want to used what little free time I have in escapism into an exciting and engaging unreal world, not a replication of the banality I see all around me.

Now I know voicing my views on this is going to get me band, but some one has to say something, I expect a torrent of denouncing me and saying how wrong I am and who they like things, or there is range, Really I expect it and know why they will be posting, but I had it. I come back and its to me slipping even more into mediocrity and just dullness, you go read and book or see a film where a school of super-kids do nothing but be steered into talking Tost and dresses, thats not a book of film thats going to make ANY money, this is not star wars or any kind of roll play where any thing really happons other than to Sunwakes who get all the best Drama wile PCs and GM try and get stuff past you.

This had to be said, and I am happy I said it.
Just remember this, its always painful to make a change but
"The truth will set you free"

Spugs

The Half-Alive Streets | Truth of the Seeker | The Sanctuary of Drowned Delight

Right. The "Sunwakes get the best drama."

Since you joined, there has only been drama in the Sunwakes because of Taron's return. Nothing else that has had to do with the family as a whole.

If you don't like social roleplay, then this isn't the game for you, pure and simple. The social aspects make it mean something, makes it matter when the real drama happens.

Listen, make your own drama. Every storyline or subplot of mine has been either my own invention or a cooperative effort. Lyn provides setting and rules, but she can't give everyone a massive arc.

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

Hi Spugs.

So, here's a little background me. I have well over 10k comic books. I've read and am currently re-reading the Wheel of Time series, which is 15 total book, each well over 400 pages long. I've read David Eddings Belgarid and Mallorean around 13 times. All ten books. I've read Belgarath the Sorcerer about 8 times and Polgara around 3.

Last year, I spent over 12 hours sitting in one movie theater, watching all 6 Marvel Movies, including the Avengers.

In all of those movies, books and comics, there's what's called character development, or what you call the banal dull moments. Not every. Single. Second. can or has to be DRAMA.

I get TONS of that IRL. Sometimes, the little moments are enjoyable.

Of course, turn the game clock back less than 12 hours, and PLENTY happened with Ace.

I woke middle of the night due to dreams foretelling the future, then had the Tybalt incident, detention, Aananda meeting Kal and creating my blocks, getting teleported to help bring Fei back to life, etc, etc.

Down time is fun, drama and enticement are fun. Its all good.

I don't understand why you can have your fun, but everybody else can't have theirs.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Spugly, I was going to write a longer response, but then I realized that none of that was really relevant. I'm going to tell you the same thing I've told a few others in the past. If you're not having fun, there's no point. This is a game. You play because you want to and it's fun or you find something else fun to do with your time. I don't really understand the need to leave in a huge huff and with a pile of drama telling everyone else how they're all wrong. It's a game. And clearly not the right game for you. I wish you well and hope you can find another game that better suits your expectations. Perhaps you might try running one. That might suit you better.

Human being Game Master and all round good egg

Well that fell of deaf ears, and yes I made my mind up to go use what little free-time I have on other things. Its the Dullness Lyn and the feeling of being always Rained in so the core players and your PCs can do the REAL stuff in the world, hell its your world, you can and do, so as you please, but for me to invest time in a world I have to feel life I have more than a passing and restricted creative element into it. I feel a lot of players not in your core group here are just stepped to banality to keep the work load down. Now let me tell you something of me, I have worked on a number of game worlds, From Gregg Stafford "Glorantha" A Stunning world, to Simon Roggers pelgrane press mutant cities blues, with my mate Robin Laws, yes that Robin Laws. I liked this idea and I will fess up I was here looking to see how this whole idea looked, Ok it's no Tekumel RPG but its good, and has the potential to be a great world setting if expanded. I'm a world building for RPGs and like to see how the world and Systems work to craft a expanding world. what makes me sad is that this setting could be like "spelljammer" even "Plainscape" but its more like GOURPs Goblins, "meets my life with master".

Lyn all I am saying is let other grow out the limits here, make a group to help world build, they may shock you, with other States and groups, More than once you talked of your ideas for Story Archs, the other Crystal dragons etc, spelljammer all good for the BIG main story, of dragon eggs and dragon infighting, but how about letting others take over parts of the world out side the core group. That's how RPG worlds grow. Let a player take ownership of a location on the planet, listing whats there and popping that player made content into game info.

I just want to make clear, I am going not because I don;t like Lyn or any other here, its just I feel Stalled, held back, limited, unable to make an impact on the shape of the world. Trapped in GM oversight that in the and gets players to talk about whats on the plate in front of them and how well they dance.

Just to limiting for an AMBER RPG GM sorry, Have fun at school kids.

Spugly

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

I think that there is an inherent misunderstanding there of what this game is. This isn't a commercial product. This isn't some grand new publishable setting. It can't be. There would be way too much copyright problems. This is effectively a home game taking elements from many different systems as we like to make a whole that is fun for us to play in. We just happen to be gathering via the internet rather than sitting around a table. Many different people have contributed to the setting since it began. One of the reasons your idea got reigned in was because you didn't have any willingness to let me approve them first. I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but as the main GM a part of my job is keeping the setting consistent and making sure that someone doesn't make something that contradicts what's already in place, and also to make sure that when you have contributed something that someone else doesn't come along and negate it all.

I don't think you'll ever be truly happy playing in someone else's setting, Spugs, which is why I suggested that you run your own game where you can set the pace and put in the ideas you want to use.

The Half-Alive Streets | Truth of the Seeker | The Sanctuary of Drowned Delight

See Spugs, I have never felt stifled in this game, quite the opposite... I think you were perhaps expecting a different scope of game, and that's the problem. This game isn't really for a giant world altering game. It's for scared kids learning to control their crazy powers, and learning how to have friends, etc.
