Valerio voxs Brother Lucian, "Brother Commander Vartas, do you see the gates opening? The console has accepted the commands, however if the rebels had tamped with the gates in order to keep them closed I would be unable to work anything from this gatehouse. In that case, we will need to crack the gate manually."
Elyas
Elyas' enhanced hearing picks up the grumbling of the enemy long before his tired walk can be heard. Emulating his squad leader Elyas quickly and silently stows his pistol and powersword, drawing combat knife. He readies himself to pounce should the need arise.

The rebel wanders past the kill-teams position without alarm, heading instead for the nearby ammunition stockpile. Once there he begins to relieve himself with a sigh.
Behind you there comes the sound of grinding metal as the mighty gate slowly slides open at Brother Leons behest.
Brother Lucian Vartas
Leaving the rebel alone, Lucian activates the squad-wide vox channel.
Gates are opening Leon. We are moving towards the gatehouse to link up with you, so please provide some overwatch for us as we return to your position.
We will blow the charges once we are clear, and then as the Colonel's forces advance we will engage targets of opportunity, focussing on those likely to cause the most disruption to the assault.
Once the main attack has gained a foothold, we will enter the main manufactorum to uncover the root of this heresy and capture the leaders for interrogation and punishment.
Sheathing his combat blade, and lifting his heavy bolter from it's clips on his backpack, Lucian turns to Elyas and Zedkiel.
Let's get back to the gatehouse. We need to keep mobile, don't get caught up in a protracted engagement. I'll set off the charges once we are clear of the blast zone - if I fall it will be up to you.
Checking his immediate surroundings for danger, Lucian begins to move back towards the gatehouse.

Correct Brother, it would indeed provide an excellent target. I am, however, out of demolition charges, and I would rather we were some distance away from it before we set about it's destruction. We will target it from afar as we assist the main assault.
Brother Librarian Castil
Castil posts up with Brother Leon on overwatch. He draws his bolter and covers his brothers movements, then lays his sight on the soon to be battlefield. Scanning the troops and weapon emplacements he tries to narrow down his focus to the greatest potential threat of their position and his squad.
Awareness 70 vs 1d100 ⇒ 87 Failure
Once again the anticipation of battle has blurred his focus and he can't seem to clearly identify the greatest threats. Not wanting his failure to impact the team he comms brother Leon.
Try to focus on the most dangerous threat to us here, we should take it out first. Any good ideas, I think you are more familiar with the weapons of war than I.

When the gates finally rumble open the courtyard explodes into new life.
The first wave of stormtroopers charge through the breach, flanked on each side by a unit of Hellhounds. They are met with equal ferocity by the rebels entrenchments. Autocannon rounds trade place with Promethium as the two sides clash violently. Behind them the rest of the Colonels forces are crossing the threshold.
You can see the two Ironclad Dreadnoughts towering epicly among the carnage. Point defense turrets along the Manufactorum come to life and pour fire into the loyalist lines, but the purpose built adamantine shells of the ancient marines shrug off the assault even as those around them are cut down.
In a matter of minutes the situation devolves into full-blown chaos. However, there is still room for a few of the Emperors elite chosen to turn the tides of the conflict:
Immediately within the gateway is the carcass of a Leman Russ that suffered a catastrophic explosion at the onset of the battle. It's placement is partially blocking the entrance, slowing the progress of your allies coming to join the battle. It looks like a tech-priest and his entourage have already been sent to move the husk, but they are currently pinned down under a brutal wave of fire from a nearby rebel pill box.
Further on you once again spot the two Iron Hands Dreadnoughts though now they stand alone, their mortal companions unable to follow their path. They are currently embroiled in a firefight with a unit of rebel Chimeras that are pressing the advantage of their superior maneuverability. From your vantage point in the gatehouse you can also see a platoon of rebel foot-soldiers making their way through the trenches to the rear of the two Dreadnoughts. There they would be able to exploit the lighter rear armor of the Ironclad chassis and harass them with sheer volume of fire.
On the western edge of the battlefield you can see that the Colonels forces have taken a serious beating. At this point there are only a few men and a handful of armor that are still in fighting condition and they are massively outnumbered and in danger of losing the line. Should they fall the loyalists entire left flank will become exposed to a rebel counterattack.
Finally you see something far in the distance, to the North-East of your position in the gatehouse, you see a flash of warp-lightning that instantly vaporizes a squad of stormtroopers. The expanse is to great for you to make out the source but it worries you nonetheless.
These are only a few of the possible areas where your team could intervene, if you would like more than I will provide.
Brother Librarian Castil
As brother Castil watches the battle quickly unfold he takes particular interest in the dreadnaughts. As he narrows in on the flanking squad, he's determined to stop them. As his hatred begins to swell and the situation begins to look more dire for the Ancient Warriors, he's trying to decide how to best help the Brother's of his chapter when he notices the warp-lightning in the distance, instantly vaporizing a squad of the Emperor's finest. Castil knows first hand this could be more dangerous than anything anyone could imagine. Determined to locate the Psykers or Deamons behind the warp attack, Castil focus on the area of the attack and who or what is coming.

Leon and Castil, assist the Enginseers in clearing the gate, before joining us at the Colonel's location.
We are the sword of the Emperor here today, Brothers, and that sword will deliver righteous justice against the heretics, and will protect those who toil in the Emperor's name.
As he begins moving towards Colonel Folken's position, marked by a blinking rune on his helmet display, Lucian voxes the Colonel to inform him of their plans. Having passed on that message, Lucian then tries to contact the Ironclads.
+++Venerable and honoured Brothers, this is Brother Lucian Vartas, Kill-Team commander. Be advised that enemy infantry are attempting to encircle your position. Recommend immediate repositioning.+++
Elder Brother Eisen Faust
The monotone voice of one of the Ironclad Dreadnoughts comes back booming over the vox:
+++INSOLENCE!+++ bellows the ancient marine +++It will not stand! Many thanks Kill-Team+++
One of the Dreadnought spins about at the waist and unleashes a blast from its heavy flamer. The flames crawl hungrily across the ground towards the trench, immolating a few of the rebels once it arrives. However it seems that the Dreadnought is still not entirely sure of the exact position of the infantry within the trench and thus many of the rebels were spared destruction. In response the Chimeras press their attack even further now that the two Ancients have divided their attention.

Seeing that his Brothers are safely out of the blast radius, Lucian triggers a narrow-band encrypted vox burst to the demolition charges previously placed.
Brother Librarian Castil
As the courtyard lights up in explosions Castil turns to Leon in the gatehouse window. "Now is the time to move, once we arrive we can move that husk ourselves with a little help from the warp. I just hope the Dreadnaughts hold out long enough. See anything powerful enough around to help take out those Chimeras? If those Dreadnaughts fail, then those vehicles will make short work of our troops and the Colonel."
Castil wonders to himself. Could my Psy-abilities aid my brothers in the Dreadnaughts? Could I provide them the strength to resist these traitors and squash this rebellion?

Three marines are simply not enough to push back an entire army. However, if you were to take your team and strike deep into the heart of the rebel forces you may be able to distract them for long enough to give the Imperial forces a chance to regroup.
Otherwise you could use the legendary reputation of the Astartes to your advantage and attempt to rally the remaining stormtroopers into a counter-attack in the hopes that a strong offense will prove more useful than a defense.
As you send out your signal you hear two titanic explosions respond Brother Vartas. Glancing over your shoulder you see that while one of your charges failed to go off correctly, the other two have crippled their targets and caused the nearby rebels a moment of pause as they attempt to figure out what is happening.
Meanwhile, Brother Castil, you move across open ground with little problem. As you run you see explosions spread among some of the rebel vehicle elements. Returning your focus to the task at hand you stop a mere 50 meters away from the pillbox, pulling yourself into a shallow crater while you consider your next move.
Brother Lucian Vartas
Hearing only two explosions, Lucian mentally chastises himself for his failure and resolves to return to his studies with greater fervour once back aboard the Pious Immolation.
The number of rebels in the courtyard are climbing, and as Lucian and his Brothers make their way towards the Colonel's position, he begins to hunt for any clear evidence of a rebel field commander - decapitating the rebels threatening Colonel Folken would surely give them a better chance of survival.

Don't worry about it. That's just the way this game works when you aren't using the errata.
Lightning springs form your hands Brother Castil, spurred forward by no more than your mere whim. You note with a grim satisfaction that it is quite a bit more dramatic than the effective burst of static you saw across the battlefield earlier.
The energy bounds the short distance between yourself and the pillbox in an instant, deliver the full brunt of the Emperors Fury to the misbegotten occupants. Energy arcs across the structure, scorching rock and melting steel. Almost immediately the bunkers guns fall silent; though you still can't see inside the structure to confirm the death of the occupants. However, giving the massive, smoking hole that is left in the wake of your attack you can assume that, even if they did manage to live, they are seriously reconsidering their choices at the moment.
----
Brother Vartas, you see a female stormtrooper wearing the insignia of a Sergeant climb out of the trench and and repeat your message to the rest of her men, further rallying them to action. Filled with righteous purpose the remaining Guardsmen on the left flank prepare to mount a desperate counterattack, they look to you for leadership.
On the rebels side of the field you notice a chimera element, including one with a command pattern, that have pulled away from the frontlines- likely to check their own vehicles for sabotage. Other than that small oddity it looks like the bulk of the rebel forces have amassed themselves in the center of their line in a rather rudimentary spear-head formation.
Brother Lucian Vartas
The discharge of lightning from across the compound startles Lucian for a second, as a sensation like greasy static electricity dances across his skin.
The sight of the Guardsmen's renewed vigour stirs Lucian's heart, but the massing of the rebel forces forces him into action. Opening the squad-wide vox, he co-ordinates a response to the impending rebel assault.
Castil, was that your psychic assault? If that pillbox has been taken care, then we need to move towards the left flank, the rebels are planning another assault on the Colonel's forces.
We will attack the rebel forces from the rear, giving the Colonel's men a greater chance of survival, and increasing our chances of destroying the heretics with a two pronged attack.
Elyas, Zedkiel and Castil will engage at close quarters, while Leon and I provide fire support.
Switching to Colonel Folken's command channel, Lucian explains his plan.
+++We are moving to support you and your men now Colonel. There is a large heretic force converging on your position. What is the status of your force?+++
Elyas
Having assessed his jump Elyas fires up his divine propulsion leaving nothing but dust behind. He smiles behind the helmet, diving through the air, closing in on an enemy, this is his purpose, his imperial mandate. Once he closes in on the rear of the heretic forces, he evaluates the enemies below and descends into the unsuspecting human wave. "For the Lion!" he roars impaling a single opponent on his crackling blade before kicking it of ready for the fight to come.

Brother Elyas, your jump not only affords you a convenient means to move about the battlefield, but also a means by which to catch your enemies off-guard. So it is as you land behind the body of the enemies left flank, cutting down an unfortunate renegade before he even has a chance to cry out. Your blade sings through the air as it parts the two halves of the man from each other, such a kill feels almost unworthy of the weapons magnificence. Luckily further glory is only moments away, your shout carries above the din of battle to the rest of the rebels and they turn to meet you, temporarily forgetting the other marines approaching from the front.
The entire body of the rebel forces on this flank count as a Horde with a magnitude of 70 if you engaged them en masse. There is also an element of 3 Chimeras, though they are not mixed in directly with the rest of the rebels. Due to dynamic speed and entry, Brother Elyas has earned himself and the kill-team a surprise round in the coming combat
Both Vartas and Zedkiel arrive in time to see Elyas descent into the throng of enemies.
Brother Castil, meanwhile, has taken to moving the destroyed armor single-handily. While the going is slow, even with his immense strength, the fact that it even moves at all is testament to the raw power of the Astartes. After a minute of this the tech-priest and his servitors make it over to your position and are aided further by your own psychic emanations. Together you make short work of the obstruction, nearly throwing it out of the way under your combined effort. The tech-priest thanks you profusely before motioning for the Imperial forces beyond the gate to come through.

You two are currently at the Imperial frontlines. There is a short 30 meter no-mans-land to cross and then you'll be right on top of the horde. About 20 meters behind them is the Chimeras.
Unfortunately, Brother Vartas, you no longer have an option. You will need to act now lest you squander the surprise earned by Brother Elyas, which means charging straight ahead towards the rebel lines (possibly with stormtroopers in tow).
Flamers are meant for one glorious purpose Brother Zedkiel, and that is bringing salvation to those who have strayed from the Emperors path. The best way to do that is directly, wading into the rebel horde and bathing them in holy promethium.
Brother Librarian Castil
Before deciding what to do, Castil takes one last look at the dreadnaughts and tries to evaluate their tactical situation, knowing he had a few moments longer than his brothers who were about to surprise the horde with an offensive. He knew he should follow orders and join the assault to protect the Colonel, but his bonds with his Iron Hand brothers was stronger. His weaker emotions, those most basic instilled virtues and beliefs since becoming an Asartes, easily overcame the cold logic and precision of his steely flesh and implants. Torn in a way he had never been confronted with, he hesitated and looked for any sign his aid might make the difference in their survival. Not knowing how the Warp would affect them, the occasion had never arrived in his Chapter's history, the Ancience ones perhaps kept it to themselves, too prideful to have admited needing help...Such was the way of his chapter, no room for weakness, but those smart enough knew it as team work.

Not sure if Awaraness is an appropriate roll here, if it is, I'll use FP to add 1 DOS, as it's important to Castil.

I apologize Brother Vartas, I did not mean to imply that the only choice was engaging the rebels in melee (I was just trying to give you limited advice since your roll was unsuccessful). They are within their trenches which affords them cover, but you do have line of site and can hit them with your ranged weapons if you so choose. The stormtroopers on your own side have secured their own portion of the trenches as well as a few impact craters from artillery to use as cover. The protection is not perfect, but it will be better than nothing.
For everyone else, remember that you can spend FP to alter the naritive in your favor. In this case Brother Castil, I am considering your FP to have been spent in that way.
Brothers stand together Castil. That is the way of the Astartes, that is what elevates them to their position as the Emperor's Chosen. But you are torn: do your loyalties lie more with your brothers in the Deathwatch or with your Chapter? The two Dreadnoughts have split their firepower, of course they will win in the end but until then their talents are being squandered. Meanwhile the rest of the kill-team are moments away from engaging a force that numbers tenfold more than their own. Caught in this conundrum, your mind suddenly wanders to something that an elder Epistolaries once told you:
"Always remember Castil, that you have been given a gift by the Emperor. You can see into His realm, walk alongside Him in battle, and call His power against your foes. You are not constrained by the mere concepts of 'possibility', you have been blessed with the power to sunder the ties of fate in your favor. So when you lead, lead from the front. When you fight, fight with ferocity worthy of your station. When you use your power, do so knowing that the Emperor watches over all his sons. Keep these truths in mind and nothing will be out of your reach. Should you ever falter know that your Chapter stands behind your every step even if you cannot see us and so to are you with us."
You have confidence that, at this point, regardless of what you choose you have the power to make a difference. Maybe, just maybe, if your brothers among the Iron Hands were to be freed from their current scuffle with the rebels they could be persuaded to bring their wrath against the rebels on the left flank.
Unfortunately my station does not allow me to reveal the guaranteed results of any of your actions (it would ruin the suspense after all), but in light of your FP I can say that if you were to use your psychic abilities on the Ironclads the outcome would surely be positive.
Brother Lucian Vartas
That's fine, I just wanted to get some kind of picture to know where everyone is before I open fire. I'm going to move into combat actions if that's OK.
Moving towards the blasted trenches, Lucian spots the rebel forces cowering behind their makeshift bulwarks, directing sporadic lasfire and solid rounds towards Colonel Folken and his stormtroopers. Brother Castil's mind wonders a moment before he regains a better sense of himself. Steeled by the words of an old teacher he understands the Emperor walks with him no matter the path he chooses. It is in this moment he decides to aid the ancient ones by taking care of the rebels attempting to flank it. Once they are free to concentrate their fire, they could surely aid in rescuing the colonel and joining the offensive. Also, it presented him an opportunity to expand his understanding and cohesion with some of his chapters most renowned souls. He had no interest in small talk, merely the clarity and singular focus of battle. Those machines represented the complete sacrifice of all the advantages and disadvantages of flesh, entombed in a mechanical machine that was among the strongest the Imperium had to offer in the fight against the enemies of the Imperium. Those rebels were beneath the munitions and effort of the Dreadnaughts, brother Castil would see to it his brother's received the glory they craved and their hatred flamed by their success, not a distraction.
Castil makes a full run towards flanking rebels, trying to approach with some stealth in hopes of flanking, but he doesn't quite time himself correctly. Perhaps the confusion of the battle will shield his movement, if not, Castil feared not, for he wasn't alone in his task.

Brother Apothecary Zedkiel
Brother Zedkiel brings the fiery wrath of the Emperor upon the heretics with holy promethium. He burns the heretics in the next trenches not engaged with the storm troopers, and advances further towards the enemy armour.
Half action to burn the heretics, half action to advance towards the chimeras into partial cover.

Spurred on by the attention of his enemies Elyas smiles behind the helmet, now they faced their doom, a true son of the lion. His first swing only graced one, but his next cleaved two more on the return, and the third even more accurate toppled over another two. His world was almost silent only the crackle of his ancient weapon disturbed his tranquility.

Brother Vartas, Zedkiel, and Elyas
Now that the rebels have had a chance to collect themselves the skirmish really starts to pick up. Your attacks have made a dent so far, but there is still a long way to go. Especially since the Chimeras are unnarmed and preparing to join the battle.
1d10 ⇒ 10
1d10 ⇒ 10
Round 1
Brother Zedkiel (14): Just as quickly as you came, you're gone again. The only thing the enemy will have to remember you buy is a healthy dose of Promethium that is currently consuming their forces. You end your movement in a crater 15m away from the Chimeras
Brother Vartas (10+): Attempts to call orders to his brothers but to no avail as his words are lost to the din of battle. Your own heavy bolter joins the cacophony as it spits out another burst of shells at the entrenched rebels.
Rebel Horde (13): 1d100 ⇒ 70 The rebels attempt to fire at the encroaching Stormtroopers before they are overrun, but thanks to the covering fire from the kill-team they are unable to land any solid hits. The horde has suffered serious losses and is now magnitude 41.
Rebel Chimeras (13): 1d100 ⇒ 53 Given how close the Brother Zedkiel is the Chimeras have no choice but to attempt to ram him before he can attack. Unfortunately just as the lead Chimera apporaches the marines position it hits a large hole that causes it to careen off-course. The Chimeras are now only 2 meters away from you Zedkiel
Stormtroopers (10-): Finish their charge and swarm into the enemy trench, immediately becoming embroiled in a melee with the horde. The horde is now considered to be engaged in melee. Penalties apply accordingly as per the core book
Brother Elyas (9):
Brother Lucian Vartas
Elyas, lead the Stormtroopers against those rebels. I will support Brother Zedkiel against the Chimeras. Leon, where are you? We need the missile launcher against this armour.
Turning his targeting reticule upon the nearest Chimera Lucian depresses the trigger of his heavy bolter, sending a stream of adamantium-tipped armour-piercing Kraken rounds at the APCs.
If possible, I'd like to move around so that I'm firing at the side armour of the nearest Chimera. If I have to leave cover to do so, then I will.

Brother Librarian Castil
As Brother Castil nears the rebels he know he won't remain hidden but it doesn't stop him. The voice of the Ancient ones fortifies his resolve as he spreads his arms and recalls the sacrifice the Ancient ones made in the "Crusda of Steel" millenia ago against the C'tan. As if gathering an invisible force Castil moves to the rebel horde and moves his hands upward with an unholy fire rising from beneath him summoning fallen Brothers from ages past. Fiery Dreadnaughts of ancient design rush forth charging through the horde and incinerating their weaker flesh.

Avenger
Action: Full, Opposed: No, Range: 30m, Sustained: No
Description: The Librarian summons up the ancestors of his Chapter and shapes them into a flaming vengeful avatar of death. The construct then billows forward to incinerate those in its path. The Avenger power works exactly like a shot from an Adeptus Astartes heavy flamer (see page 145), with all the usual chance to hit and set targets on fire. However, due to the horrific nature of the psychic flames, the Penetration of the attack is equal to 2 x PR.

Not sure if I'm battling a horde or individuals? Sorry its taken so long, Holidays have slowed me down. Looking forard to playing this battle out. Didn't know Chimera's were unarmed before, lol. Thought they posed a greater risk like the one from before. Hopefully Leon comes back, always nice to have a Techmarine around.
Elder Brother Eisen Faust
The Chimeras are not unarmed. If they had hit Brother Zedkiel with that ram he would have been in for a world of hurt.
The small unit of enemies is caught completely unaware as the righteous tide of the Librarians fury passes over them. They die knowing only the fear of their impending judgement at the feet of the Emperor.
+++YES.+++ purrs Brother Faust in reaction +++Try and keep up Brother, there is much more to be done!+++
As he says that the other Dreadnought, Brother Gazerich, finally manages to catch one of the flighty Chimeras in his grasp. Within moments he has brought his Chainfist to bear, tearing the poor vehicle apart as if it were no more than a mere tin can. Then he tosses it to the ground before him and hits it with a blast from his flamer for good measure. Fuel pouring out from the sundered husk is ignited in the fire; a second Chimera is consumed in the ensuing explosion. Only one Chimera remains for the two Ironclads to deal with.
Elyas
Round 1
As the rebels move against him akind to the waves of the sea, brother Elyas stands and becomes the rock on which the break. His first swing and the return both cleave deeply into the ranks of his attacker while the last is distracted by his squad leader. "Acknowledged, where might they be?" he inquires.

Brother Librarian Castil
Fortified not only by his pride and the ancient's words, Castil directs his focus towards the remaining Chimera and unleashes a fury of bolts at the vehicle with enough energy to easily vaporize any flesh in its path. As the energy releases from his hands Castil replies to the Dreadnaught's call, +++My brothers need your aid to protect the colonel. Let us be quick!+++
Half action Aim, Half Action Unfettered Smite (PR 5)
Focus Power test vs 70+25 (PR Bonus)+10 (Aim) vs 1d100 ⇒ 52 5DOS
Not sure what modifiers would apply, I'll leave that to you, looks like a hit, but you can apply other modifiers I don't know of. Might not matter for the first shot, but for RF confirm, it could make a difference. If for some reason I'm out of range, then I'll take action to move in range and there would be no aim or my action would happen next round.
Smite
Action: Half, Opposed: No, Range: 10m x PR, Sustained: No
Description: The Librarian conjurers up lethal bolts of lightning that leap from his hands to burn and blast his enemies into ash. Smite must be targeted at a single creature. However, it may effect others nearby depending on its power. The Librarian does not need to make a BS test to hit the target. However, his Focus Power Test is modified as if he was making a ranged attack (using bonuses and penalties for range, lighting, enemy talents, etc.). Smite deals 1d10 Energy Damage x PR with a Penetration equal to his PR. Any creatures within 1 metre x PR of the target will also be affected by Smite.
Penetration 5, Damage= 5d10 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 10, 10) = 31
Confirm RF:
1d100 ⇒ 90
RF Damage
5d10 ⇒ (2, 7, 3, 9, 4) = 25
Maybe a RF hit, depends on the modifiers. Also, I got two 10s, not sure if that's just one or two chances at RF, not going to roll more for this power, but for Bolters and such how would that work rolling more than one 10 with damage dice?
