I thought that area G only opens to players when they complete another encounter.
After defeating at least one other encounter, the PCs can also choose to confront the orc leadership for an even greater challenge (area G).
Yup, there it is.
So, it is open, if they complete another encounter, right?

Yes, I believe that is correct. I think what GM Granta is that we table GMs can go ahead and run D, E, F & G autonomously according to the scenario instructions, but only proceed to part 3 when we get the cue from the overseer.

Any guidelines for time between encounters in this section? My party is booking it from their first encounter to the next to keep their minute/level buffs up, and given my understanding of the area I'd assume it only takes a few minutes to move from where they are to where they want to be. They are going from encounter D to G, so my plan was to say it takes 1d6 minutes + however long they spend healing up.
GM Aerondor |
I was wondering the same thing. Previous specials have had specific transition times.
GM Granta |
With no clues as to the caravan or combat size in the scenario, that's completely up to each GM. We can safely assume that round/level buffs will have expired, but 10 minute/level buffs have not.
So the question is whether minute/level buffs would still be up, and I recommend a die size which gives the players a chance. 1d6 minutes is very different to the 1-2 and 10-11 subtiers.

Tier 10-11 are also after the leaders, that vanguard was just a minor road bump.

Hey guys, starting from about 2100 EST tonight until Saturday noon, I'm in 1 post per day territory. I'll try to make that post in the afternoon so others have enough time. By Saturday night I'll be back to normal.

As a note, it looks like special successes should be included when calculating the total number of successes in this section.
Successes:Tally the number of successes (including special successes) the House reported during Part 2. The number of successes determines which of three possible conditions takes effect for the duration of Part 3. The details of these conditions appear in the Twinhorn Allies sidebar on page 31.

@GM Granta -- since I took over Qwerty's table, could the reporting be changed to my name? I keep trying to find me before I remember... if it isn't too much trouble.
Thanks!

The higher ground encounter is proving tough for my table. They watched through taking them head on though.
Chaosorbit |
My table just finished the caravan, it took 6 full rounds of combat (at 5-6) with 3 orcs a turn. It proved to be a lonnng encounter even with a decent posting rate.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Yep - higher ground went fast, but the caravan is taking a long time.
GM kuey |
Yeah, the caravan encounter is taking a longer time than usual. Wondering for the higher ground, with the difficult terrain, would it take long as well? Wondering whether meeting the chieftain might go faster instead after my group finishes the caravan one.

I'm okay today, but in about 24 hours I'll be packing up my office and then spending the weekend doing office shifts. Any chance of a backup GM to take over in about 30 hours time for my Core table?
GM Hmm |
Who needs a token?
Please let me know if your table would like one.
Hmm

I can get ya.

Hmm
I passed it to Nightdeath, after rolling randomly.
It looks like a couple aid tokens may be stuck at their tables though. They do no good if they don't move.
Hmm
GM Silbeg |
GM Hmm's table just finished the Orc Leadership, to give us the 4 special successes to trigger the Scattered Leaders condition.
Dunno if there's an announcement for that... but it does affect most NPC's on the board going forward.
There is... see page 21

Actually, page 20:

There a problem in the track.
We have 20 success, I see only 16.
If I had to guess, whatever change was made to include the special successes as regular successes is mucked up somehow...
It actually incremented when GM Hmm added her special success... but hasn't for any other since that change was made.Should be up to 25 now. 14 more to get by Friday...

Well, having 50% less hp would help a lot.

Are the other tables at RPGGeek and Myth weavers having tokens?
GM Aerondor |
How many tables do we have? And I know there is a calendar somewhere, but I can't find it. When does part 2 come to a finish?
@Tyranius. Many thanks. I'll let the table know you'll be taking over tomorrow for a few days. I suspect your load will be light as I don't think they will have time to take on another part 2 encounter.
