PYRAMID
Claire moves in and swipes at the pyramid, but misses.
The Pyramid reverses itself and tries to run down Claire, Crowe, and Valjoen once more.
It runs over the top of:
Damage 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Claire
Crowe
Valjoen
Take damage, but make an AoO (at -4)
OR
DC18 Reflex for half (but no AOO)
Will await resolution of AOO's etc
| Standard Pregen |
Crowe winces in anticipation as the Pyramid rumbles in his direction, but takes a swing at it as it closes.
Earthbreaker, RAGE!, Bless (penalty included): 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 9 + 2 + 1 - 4 = 18, for 2d6 + 13 + 3 ⇒ (2, 1) + 13 + 3 = 19 damage.
He then chases after it, ready to deliver another stone-pulverising blow.
Earthbreaker, RAGE!, Bless: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 20, for 2d6 + 13 + 3 ⇒ (3, 5) + 13 + 3 = 24 damage.
GM Shifty
|
OK so partial retcon, and why I wanted actions first :)
The thing lumbers in and Crowe reacts in anger once again, smashing at the construction with his Earthbreaker - the structural damage is too much and the thing collapses in a pile of rubble.
/End combat
Ahead, a large set of double doors blocks your path.
| Standard Pregen |
"That... was unpleasant."
Crowe pulls out a wand, and waits for some healing...
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4.
...once satisfied with his healing, his continues his cautious way down the corridor.
Master Mido
|
That is quite the mighty hammer striking technique. Mido compliments as he approaches the large double door and ex<amines it.
Percpetion1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Stelikara
|
As she walks pat the pile of rocks that used to be the attack pyramid, Stelikara cracks it with her whip a few times. "Just making sure," she growls. Then she follows the rest of the party down the hall.
Clair Vavassour
|
Clair takes her wand of cure light wounds and heals herself back to full health.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
After putting her own wand away she takes the one Crowe holds. "Here, let me help you."
Clair gives Crowe a few taps and returns the wand to him. "There you go."
She heads over to the double doors and stops several feet in front of it, where she cautiously inspects the doors for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
GM Shifty

The pair of heavy stone doors carved with images of rampant sphinxes stand at the terminus of the long causeway.
They appear to swing inwards, or they would if they weren't so firmly jammed shut.
You think that two people working in unison may be able to force them.
Two people can make STR checks and combine them, or come up with another fancy way!
Dioneo II Starnon
|
Sorry for my disappearance.
Dineo stands idle, not feeling very concerned about the fight or the doors.
| Shifty |
Curiously it says ADD the checks, so... 46 according to this encounter!
Working well together, Crowe and Valjoen manage to force the door.
From their vantage point they can see into the space beyond.
Tall, pink granite columns, carved and painted to resemble palm trees, stand around the perimeter of this chamber, supporting the barrel vault of the ceiling. Slabs of the same pink granite line the walls. A stone sarcophagus stands alone on the limestone floor in the center of the room. Beyond, a dark doorway leads deeper into the pyramid to the west.
Clarifying - Crowe is Taking what on which? Still maintaining a general take 20, anyone else?
Valjoen
|
Valjoen will take 20 on perception for a 26 as SOP when entering an area... assumming the take 20 is available. I'll be searching for traps but do not have Trap Sense as mentioned earlier.
GM Shifty
|
With the doors open, Crowe and Valjoen get back to searching.
It was subtle, well made, so cleverly concealed they almost missed it - but there it was - a pressure plate that causes the floor to fall away...
10'x10' pit inside the doors
Disarm, or work out how you wish to cross - bearing in mind you might be leaving this way and in a hurry in future!
Stelikara
|
"I shouldn't have any problem jumping across," Stelikara say. "if you think that would help..." She trails off weakly as Valjoen apparently makes short work of the trap.
"Never mind."
Clair Vavassour
|
Clair hangs against the wall while Valjoen works the trap, expecting it to take a while. When he finishes within the blink of on eye, Clair looks rather surprised. "So fast...?"
| Shifty |
Valjoen makes it all look so easy as he disables the mechanism...

Who is checking what? Or if it is Crowe and Valjoen, what is the order?
Master Mido
|
A sarcophargus! Mido pipes up with interest. Shall we examine it! We should be careful however as there are many tales of those buried there still living...
Stelikara
|
Stelikara will stay back near the doorway -- just avoiding the space where the pit was. She will alternate between watching back the way they came, to make sure no one is coming in behind them, and calling out "helpfully" to the pair searching the room. "Did you check that pillar? Make sure you check that pillar. No, the other one."

Val checks for traps, with Crowe watching on.
Val is very surprised when the Chest springs to life and engulfs him.

Can a Disarm make an enemy drop an unconscious grappled opponent? I'm not sure how I'd rule myself -- disarm makes the enemy drop "one item it is carrying of your choice (even if the item is wielded with two hands)".
If you would allow a disarm in this case, call this attack a disarm, otherwise it is a normal attack with a whip.
Stelikara advances to 15' away from the strange chest, drawing her whip as she does so. Then she strikes the misbehaving container with her whip. "Is every object in this place a monster? I don't think I like pyramids anymore."
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
