When he calls upon shadow beasts, he calls 2d6 shadowgarms, 1d4 shadow rat swarms, 1d4+1 shadows, or 1d3 shadow mastiffs. Although the vampire can only do so as often as he can use children of the night (once a day for most vampires), shadow beasts called in this manner persist in the area and follow the vampire’s last command until they are slain or banished. At any one time, a vampiric wielder of the Totemrix can maintain a number of shadow beasts equal to the amount of spawn he can control.

This is one of those "increase your investment" items - can we claim it as a party item? All we have to do is buy 25,000 gp worth of lead and we instantly get 50,000 gp worth of gold back.

Sorry I'm a little confused - are you claiming these items or are you asking the group to give up 34,580 gp?

When I suggested the NPC holding I was thinking of it more in line of the no-claim healing - things that have an obvious benefit for the group as a whole.

Am fine with Fiosa having Staff of Healing.
As a separate aside though, not sure why having an npc who is not currently seeing action having a healing item that can be used for the group is so different from giving an npc (who granted, is attached to Azhar) items that could be used to keep her central to the core of the group or out of harms way while still buffing the group. My understanding was this was going to need to be rattified by the group as a whole or not be implemented. I had put any or all items up for consideration as I assumed was the intent.

I concur on these points. Assuming that we even have the vaguest idea how to destroy The Totemrix.

It would be convenient to give the Staff of Healing to ... someone that can use it and who we're going to be hauling around with us from place to place.

Does the Rod of Shadowy Splendor's bonus stack with the Cha bonuses that Amaya already has? She's not "my" NPC, so I wasn't really keeping track.

...and Gravlax will have not only a ring +2 but a belt +4 [Str] that he could part with at cost to any (n)PC in need.

I am not against Amaya getting the +3 leather armor, it just feels like something that should be more an individual player claim than a party claim.

Although I certainly do appreciate the bardic buffs.

I too agree, so no vote needed. Assuming the other two items are still on the table for some reason, the +3 leather armor will be removed from contention and Azhar will re-institute it as a personal claim.

Does this stack with other magic? Both the Rod and her headband say "Enhancement bonus". Does this mean they do not stack? If not, there is no benefit to the group and this item should be removed from consideration/voted down.

As for the staff, I'm thinking it could be more treated as a party item, given to whoever is healing that time out. I'm also fine with selling it.

Okay. So, again by my understanding, all items are removed from consideration and the Staff is put up for "Party" status to be carried by whomsoever the party or GM chooses..or sold.

Couple of notes on the Staff of Healing:

Using the staff
The following characters could cast spells from the staff -
Fiosa (all spells)
Any character who can regularly roll 20 on Use Magic Device (all spells)
Zsz (all spells except Lesser Restoration)
Amaya (Cure Serious Wounds ONLY)

The following characters can recharge the staff:
Fiosa, Zsz, or Amaya. UMD cannot be used to recharge a staff.

As for my thoughts on the Staff of Healing ... do we really need it? Serious healing hasn't been a necessity for this party. I'd lean toward selling it.

50X50 is bigger than any townhouse I've ever heard of ... I was thinking something more like 40x30.

That's just enough room for each level of the "maze" to have a couple of decision points for the confusion effect to work, a few invisible doors to nowhere, one 20' by 20' room, etc.

It would result in something like this sample floor (and this will make it obvious why I didn't try to simply draw it this way; I had to leave an extra space around everything so I could fit the walls in, so it's "double scale":)
