Sorry guys my holiday ran longer then planned
As the others look at the writing Vrealk seems to look at the wall. He points out that the "wall" looks like it moves somehow. He is not sure how as he sees no mechanical switch or anything of the like.
Really no one took Osiriani :). On bards yes knowledge skills my be tried untrained and ya add your bard level to all knowledge skills
Ayishidaj -bintel-Quivarashidj
As the group moves closer and looks carefully at the writing, Ayish leans forwards,
"Hmmm...this symbol resembles..." She talks quietly to herself as her finger reaches out and traces some of the glyphs upon the walls.
Bard Skill Check:1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 1 + 2 = 18
W00t! Go Bard! (^_^)
Ayishidaj -bintel-Quivarashidj
Actions? Ayish what are ya using the skill check for?
Um, I was hoping to be able to make a best 'guess' as to what the writing is saying, oh illustrious DM. So as to be able to move the story onwards to adventure!. *bows*. (^_^)
I also apologize for a slowing down of postings. My current employment has changed the shifts and hence my access to the interweb has become some what curtailed. V_V *bows*
N'Djamena
N'Djamena, out of ideas, flourishes his holy symbol and says: "In the name of Nethys, I command you to open!" to the wall/door/whatever.
He shrugs when nothing happens. "If we stay overnight here, I can pray to Nethys for the ability to understand these words in the morning. They might give us a clue. What do you think?"
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
No I have slacked off on the updates on all my games of late..been a bit hectic. However langs are not knowledge skills and writings are covered by linguistics, so will bardic knowledge is very cool, it does not apply here. You guys do know there is a door there, Vrealk said as much. He did not however see a latch or a mechanism to open it he could find.
N'Djamena invokes Nethy's name but nothing seems to happen.
Ayishidaj -bintel-Quivarashidj
Ayish sighs, slightly unhappy at not being able to help the party understand the words. Still, as a dancer and entertainer she gave it a pretty good go.
As N'Djamenas' attempts at invoking his faith also fails to gain results, Ayish sighs again.
"Maybe we'll just have to come back with a battering-ram..." She suggests softly...

Vrealk thinks the passageway should push inward, but it seems locked somehow, as solid as the rest of the wall. Maybe magic of some type or a lock on the other side of the passage way or a blockage maybe.
Market does find a few ribbons of varying color and some even embroidered. Once they belonged to now ruined books as book marks and dividers, now they lay in the shredded ruins of those very books
Markhet
"Ooooo, pretty," she says as she selects a couple to add to her collection but discards the others for reasons only a gnome can fully understand. Larrs seems interested in some of the sting as Markhet examines it. Casually pawing at them as Markhet lays them out . . . until his master shoos him. The lion walks over to sulk near one of the corners of the room . . . until the dangling and dancing ribbons catch his eyes again and he begins to creep back to accost the collection again. Thankfully by this time Markhet has already made her selections and the lion paws the left overs.
"Larrs is so silly!" Markhet laughs as the lion pounces on the ribbons, looking for some movement.
Markhet
Markhet's eyes open wide as the ribbons start moving on their own but Larrs, oblivious to the magic, happily swats at the dancing string. MArkhet scans the room and quickly spies Ayish's smiling face.
"Whew," the gnome sighs, "Markhet was worried their for a moment. She thought there was some scary magic about. Larrs likes playing but Markhet is usually too small to play with him. He get's rough when he gets excited and quickly forgets that Markhet is not as big or strong as he is."
and only a sicko will take Markhet's words out of context!
Ayishidaj -bintel-Quivarashidj
Seeing Markhet catching on to her playing with Larrs, Ayish smiles shyly and bows. Then sees the look Vrealk casts her way, remembers that she should be helping him and she blushes with embarrassment.
"Um, I do not think the door will give way to our efforts. If there is nothing left to explore, shall we call this a victory and head back or move on?" She asks in a quiet voice, though still using her mage hand to tug at strings.
Vrealk
Vrealk looks quite dejected that he cannot find a way to open the door. "Me thinks friend-Xerx is right. And maybe those words will help in opening the door. Friend-N'Djamena, you said you could have a spell to understand them, yes? Maybe we rest, and try again in the morning."
N'Djamena
"I'd be wary of trying to smash through the door; it may be warded. I suggest we spend the night and I'll be able to comprehend the language in the morning with the right prayer.
Xerxzayas, I'd be delighted to discuss the doctrine of the Grand Archmage, the Creator and Destroyer. Let me start at the beginning..."
He drones on for a while about the worship of Nethys, using the temple's engravings as visual aids.
tomorrow he'll replace Endure Elements with Comprehend Languages
Vrealk
Vrealk holds up his hand to the rest of the group, and indicates he will take the point. He creeps into the room, letting his darkvision adjust and peers around.
stealth 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 25
perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 +1 vs. traps
edit: wow, these dice rollers have been pretty rough to me, lately
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
Vrealk starts down the darkened tunnel, followed by N'djamerna and the others. Xerxzayas speaks an arcane word and light fills the tunnel giving the group a good look at what lays beyond. The winding corridor stretches ahead, clouded with phosphorescent gray mist. Statues stand rigidly along the meandering hallway, each clad in the trappings of a powerful mage or priest. Thick tendrils of pearlescent vapor hiss forth from their open mouths, weaving through the air like translucent alien vines before reluctantly dispersing. A susurrus of whispers can faintly be heard from the statues, the sounds of forgotten tongues trapped in time

power?”
N'djamena, Xerxzayas,Ayish and markhet
Xerxzayas[spoiler] You start to see forms in the mist, things that you know are not there, visions drift in the mist, arcane symbols and runes, summoning circles and formula dance in the air before you, could this have something to do with the power you feel?
Larrs seems to paw the ground in front of him letting out a roar as he claws at the stone floor.
Vrealk starts to sing and talk to himself as he stars into the misty darkness
Vrealk
Ayish
Your sitting elsewhere, the room is lavish, rugs of the greatest detail, tapestry of the finest silk adorn the walls. A great fat man in silks sits on a divan, slaves feeding him grapes. "The war is coming you know" he says as he eats the grapes, no not grapes, eyes. he is eating eyes "You will burn, your flesh will feed to many and your marrow will be sucked from your bones." As you watch the mans flesh rotten and his slaves become things of ghoulish nightmares. The leap for you and you scream in naked terror as the world becomes flames and death
Ayish screams with terror.
Xerxzayas
|
Believing this to be a test of his will and magical prowess, Xerxzayas attempts to maintain control. He fears what havoc Mamood would wreck if he were to be unleashed so he dismisses his companion. He tries to figure out what's going on, make sense of the formulas and runes and symbols.
