The gore covered thing makes a mewling sound as it looks up at its mother. It looks around with large bloodshot eyes. It then shuffles a few steps toward the cleric, then falls on its side and expires.

As a dwarf I can see how you might confuse an ugly muck-covered face as an ugly beard-covered face. Sadly Urdock, you are not the new critter to enter the area. I still need your action from inside the belly.| Urdok |
((OOps sorry thought you just skipped ahead and did a post concerning what we had gone over in e-mail))
Sliding down the creatures gullet, Urdok briefly wonders why newborn children cry like they would like back INTO this environment. Invoking the ring that he had taken off of his dead head master's hand that fateful night, Urdok casts the most powerful spell in his repertoire. Small blades appear around him and begin to spin at a high rate of speed around his small compact form. Tearing and cutting through the creatures innards, Urdok's last thought before going unconscious is that he will at least take this foul creature with him.

The creature begins to run off. It has some food now, and is finding the last few seconds quite painful. With a bellow it turns back towards the jungle. Suddenly it squats awkwardly and it tries to scratch its wounded belly. More wounds appear, caused by bits of steel as a whirling ring of blades cuts through the critter from the inside. It shudders, then collapses in on itself. It's eyes glaze over and its tongue lolls through the huge teeth to fall onto the sand.
Urdock has done enough damage to finish the creature, but not enough to cut himself out of its belly, which means Urdock takes 8 acid damage...| Urdok |
Urdok swung from the end of the whip, slowly feeling his life being strangled from him. "How could it end like this?" he wondered. Replaying the events of the night, Urdok tries to see where it went all wrong. Finding Traes Bashar standing over the dead body of his head master, was his first mistake. Before he could even register what he had found, Urdok had cast a fireball spell in the room, not only incinerating the wounded Traes, but destroying any evidence of what had happened. All that had survived the fire was his head master's ring, and the sword that Urdok pried from Traes crisped hands. Running to his room, Urdok had just enough time to grab his shield before the attack came.
All to soon Urdok found himself in the courtyard, his back to the old stone well. Binton Massif, and Colton Teare at his sides. Magister's trust, the group that the head master himself had appointed to find and destroy the group that was slowly taking over the school, was destroyed. All that was left were these three, all wounded, and bereft of spells.
Urdok looked to the sky, letting the rain patter against his face. Looking down he watched the play of the dark rivers of blood slowly make their way down his arm. During the brief flashes of light from the lightning in the sky, Urdok could see the groups of his one time school mates, now mindless drones, form ranks around them.
Then SHE appeared, so beautiful that it seemed she made her own light, all that Urdok remembered was her face as she slowly walked toward them. Urdok could not remember her words that she said then, but he can remember her laugh, cruel and callous. Then came the thunder of the charge of all of her thralls, Urdok's friends, companions, enemies. For a few brief moments Urdok struggles. His scimitar tearing through Du'chaillo's neck and sticking fast in Chase's hip. Unable to tear his scimitar free Urdok begin's to strike and punch at his enemies. Pushed against the side of the well, Urdok feels the old stone give away and the knot of people covering him all fall down the hole.
Suddenly Urdok is arrested in his flight by the spiked whip of Mistress Monique's chain whip. Slowly swinging back and forth, Urdok looks into that coldly beautiful face, as his life drains from him. Knowing he is about to die, Urdok uses his last trick. Pulling power from the Pear of Power he had secreted in the toe of his boot, Urdok places his hands together and attempts to cast a spell at her, as his last act of defiance. Dismay ripples through Urdok's being as the fact that he is being strangled and cannot speak the words of the spell impinge on his consciousness.
Suddenly the ring he had taken from his head master's corpse, flares briefly, and flames spring from Urdok's hands. Doing little damage, the fires set Mistress Monique's beautiful hair aflame. Dropping the whip, she screams as she tries to put it out. Urdok smiles as he watches the small patch of light disappear above him, her screams following him, until the impact with the water causes him to lose consciousness.

Waking from a nightmare like that, with strange hands upon him, Urdok lashed out at everything within reach. Punching, kicking, and even biting at whatever was near him, it takes a few seconds for him to realize that it is not that fateful night, and that these are friends helping him. With a sheepish grin, Urdok looks around for the comely lass that he had bravely stepped in front of and "protected" from the beast.

After seeing that the dwarf is in the care of the cleric.
Jas cleans the gore off himself in the sea.
Mutters to himself, "Here is blood from my enemy, I offer to the gods of the seas."
After this little ritual, Jas looks for a shovel, or a piece of wood to use as a shovel.
Jas returns to where he found the sword, and where he dropped Jaden's harpoon.
1-I want to return the loaned harpoon back to Jaden, but I don't want to forget where I found the sword.
2-Keep a wary eye on the creature that came out of the T-rex, if it doesn't attack me, I leave it alone.
3-I want to dig a little in the sand to see if any more equipment from the fighter who had this sword before is in the sand.
4-Return the harpoon to Jaden, "Thank you for the use of your fine harpoon."
5- Later, from the wreckage, I'm looking for armor, heavy crossbow, bolts, food, scabbard for the great sword, spears, clothes, standard gear, backpack, sunrods, tindertwigs, everburning torches, boots in no paticular order. I try things on, if it fits I keep it. If anyone objects, I say, "They are dead, they have no use for it."
6- After the I have my gear. Help the cleric bury the dead, I want to make sure the corpses can't be used to make undead.
| Jas the Shipwright |
Starting a fire and burning the corpses is acceptable also.
Is BBQ T-rex edible?
I start yelling out orders and/or suggestions for the survivors.
"It'll be a good idea to start a fire, it'll keep wild animals away."
"Let's start a funeral pyre for the dead."
"Take the clothes off the dead, we might need the fabric to make a new sail later."
"I think we can eat this giant lizard after we cook it some. Is anyone a butcher, or know how to cook?"
"Let's sort out the larger pieces of wood from the ship. Small pieces can go into the fire."
I start doing the work, if the survivors help, great. If not, so be it.

Cora overturns a crate and finds a tent. She and Jas continue searching the beach but find little worth mentioning. Eventually they decide they might have more luck on the Sea Wyvern. The ship itself is about 200 feet off they beach, visible in the darkness as little more than two large shapes. Jas is right the Sea Wyvern needs some real work. The corpses are soon put to rest. And yes the T-rex can be turned into a fair amount of meal.
Avner and the others comes to the party and stay close. The huge beast has shaken them. "I demand you to protect us! You were hired to get me to Farshore!" First Mate Amella stays close to him, sullen and lost with the ship off shore. Tavey stands at the end of the beach. The waves crash against his ankles as he silently stares at the ship where the statue of Char rests. Urol seems the least preturbed straying about picking up bits of seaweed, shells, and such. Avner does not let up, "You have made of this heroes! Now what are you going to do about it!"
Indeed. What are you going to do?
| Urdok |
"Well folks good thing ye got me." Rushing off to his base camp, Urdok returns and throws down a small bead. Suddenly a sphere appears, big enough for everyone to lay down inside. Inside the air is comfortably cool, much nicer than the balmy weather outside. There is also a cool ambient light. Those outside can only see an opaque surface, but those inside can see out with little difficulty.

Indeed. What are you going to do?
Fang will take a dip in the ocean to wash off the blood and gore. You can tell that the salt water stings as it fills his many open wounds, but you're not sure that he understands the connection between the salt and the pain. After a short swim he comes back onto the beach. At that point he follows people around with a look of curious bemusement, not so close as to cause offense, more like a puppy dog... When the magical hut goes up he's very shocked and retreats to the edge of camp for a few minutes before cautiously returning.

"Well master Avner, since ye seem ter be the only true gentleman in the group, how did ye and yer friends end up findin' yerselves on this hunk o' rock?"
"Friends?! Friends?" Avner is nearly spitting the words. Amela though for different reasons seems to agree the nobleman is not a friend. "This chewed-on excuse of adventureres sank my boat! I am on the way to finishing the biggest deal in my presitigious family's career and these sorry bunch of people crashed my boat! I demand to be taken to Farshore and I demand it now!" The tirade continues for a short while though mention of the colony perks the attention of the naturalist gnome. He quickly tries to confer with Amela and gets snapped at for his troubles.

After listening to Teaglin.
"Can you heal a broken ship?"
"Can you create food and water? I've seen other clerics do that before. If you can not, we may have to go inland for water and food."
As we get closer, "I want to look for survivors first. Tend to the wounded. I have helped to build a ship before, if her keel is broken, then we are done for. If her keel is still sound, we might be able to salvage the Wyvern. I wonder if any of the trees in that jungle will be useful."
ooc, How long will taking a 20 to search the ship for survivors take?
Help Teaglin get the long boat into the water, and send him off.
"Yes, go get the others, more eyes and hands will help."
How long will taking 20 to evaluate the ship take? I have +4 to ship building Craft.
Are we at high tide or low tide? If it's low tide, when it is high tide I want to pull the ship closer to shore.
I've lost my sense of time, what time of day is it now?
After that, I start searching the ship for useful mundane items, might as well take 20 on that also.
I'm looking for armor, heavy crossbow, bolts, food, scabbard for the great sword, spears, clothes, standard gear, backpack, sunrods, tindertwigs, everburning torches, boots, lanterns, oil, tools.
| DM & vestigial dm |
Jas and Teaglin's assessment of the ship is not good. It might be repaired in a month's time if it could be drydocked and a full crew of shipbuilders were available. The Sea Wyvern will not sail again anytime soon.
No more survivors are found aboard either. Those large eels seem to have scoured the hold through the enourmous hole and the deck is wiped clean. The longboats are no where to be found, though the splintered blade of one oar sticks out of the broken mast. Whether it was the wind or some other force that drove it into the wood can not be determined.
Fortunately some of the dry goods that were meant to supply the colony of Farshore remain intact. After only a couple of hours of searching the two come up with a number of items including 30 pounds of food, 20 pounds of feed, a masterwork heavy crossbow, 4 pints of lamp oil, two cases of crossbow bolts (20 total) 100 feet of hemp rope, 3 waterskins, a small wooden case with 2 potions of cure moderate wounds a watertight scroll tube, and an explorer's outfit. About an hour before sunset they have managed create some small rafts and lash all the gear together.

Avner breaks free of the lizardman's grip. The look on his face is one--if the rumours of his womanizing are not exagerated--one he must have seen many a time: humiliation and helplessness. He stomps into the tent muttering commands to be taken to Farshore and the witless help that vandeboren woman hired.
Urol takes this moment to approach the party. He has spent the afternoon exploring the tidal fauna and the jungle flora. "I think I have it Captain Mainsail. We are on the northeast side fo the island. If we head south," he draws a line in the sand ending in a pile of seashells he has just dropped, "we can cross these small mountains to the bay on the other side. Following the coast from there we should reach the Village of Tanaroa in about eight days." Here he points to a coconut shell, the first of seven he has lined up. A piece of seaweed seperates these from a shiny Sasserine coin. "See? Farshore!"
It is clear that he is excited at his newfound usefulness. The giddiness is nearly contagious.
