GM Wolfspirit |
Hey everyone. Please ninja dot on the gameplay thread. (Make a post and delete.)
Here is my initial thoughts on ship assignments:
GM Kuey Captain
RZMR or Dark Science
Tinker 7 Gunner
Pangea-Epsilon Backup Gunner
RZMR or Dark Engineer
Luthor Volandis Pilot
There is some wiggle room if someone has a more optimal configuration.
Once we start, the intention is for this run to go at a reasonable pace. I won't rush, but I'll try and push when appropriate. The expectation will be for a post a day during the week and a post over the weekend; I'll bot or delay as needed in combat. I will also use "rule of two" when there are decisions to be made.
I'll be doing a little more prep work, but I should have a post up tomorrow evening, Monday at latest. If anyone has questions, let me know.

I’m not sure which character we’ve got from everyone, but here’s who was selected and what they had offered:
1) GM Kuey - Solarian 2 or Mystic 2
3) RZMR - Technomancer 2 - Science/Engineering
4) Tinker 7 - Soldier 1 - Gunner/Pilot
5a) Darkling36 - Operative 1 - Any
5b) Darkling36 - Technomancer 2 - Science/Engineering
6) Pangea-Epsilon - Mystic(Healer) 1 - Bad Gunner
11a) Luthor Volandis - Envoy 1 - Captain/Pilot
11b) Luthor Volandis - Soldier 1 - Gunner/Pilot
Jadzia Bainbridge |
Luthor Volandis here. This is my envoy's alias. I've only played them at my local lodge so far so i need to set them up for PbP. It won't take long to do that though i'm sure :)
GM Wolfspirit |
I haven't heard back from Kuey yet, but my suggestion was for him to run his Solarian for the melee, and Darkling to run their Operative. Another level 2 Technomancer wouldn't be a -bad- thing, though.
GM Wolfspirit |
One quick note as I set up things: The initial "hook" of the AP assumes you are not Starfinders and are looking for admittance to the organization... which makes little sense if half the players have finished Commencement and assorted other missions. For that reason, I've modified the hook slightly in ways that beyond the initial "introduction" (that isn't fully described in the AP anyway) will effectively only modify one line of box text dialog.
Hopefully that's ok with everyone :)

Although a Mystic 2 wouldn’t suck either.

I suppose there is that, too. There is a pretty brutal encounter. Part of running with several level 2s is to see how manageable this is as a sanctioned AP. Given that the AP is pretty much a requirement to have multiple characters getting to level 3 in the near future, I'll be trying to run it a few times.
RZMR |
I’ve dotted - hadn’t realized gameplay was up yet. I’ll make a more elaborate post later today
Pangea-Epsilon |
Hello all!
Thanks for running this, Wolfspirit!
And hope we all have fun (and survive)...
Cestkion |
Hi, sorry to jump into the party a bit late, I was watching but for some reason these threads didn't show up on my phone like they normally would. I'll bring Cestkion, my operative, since we already have a technomancer. Expect skills from me, but not too much else just yet.

Pangea is a Mystic, so we're all set! Well, assuming Pangea is a Mystic with at least a healing spell.
GM Wolfspirit |
It seems like 4 out of 6 people didn't see the threads become available. I blame the messageboards ;) Glad to have everyone on board.
Cestkion |
If we don't have any healing spells, and perhaps even if we do, I should probably pick up a medical kit once the funds become available. Or maybe we'll get lucky and find one. We shall have to pick fights with anyone in a medics outfit.
And I'm completely willing to blame the boards, it was odd. Thank you for running for us Wolfspirit.
Pangea-Epsilon |
Pangea is a Mystic, so we're all set! Well, assuming Pangea is a Mystic with at least a healing spell.
Pangea-Epsilon is a Priest of the great god Triune, and follows the Mystic path of Healing.
Triune has powerful nanites that can rebuild flesh and cyber-skin alike!
Spells:
Detect Affliction & Stabilize
and 3/day
Mystic Cure & Lesser Remove Condition
plus Healing Touch 1/day (5hp) and Healing Channel
(healing all allies within 30 feet for 2d8 hp for an RP).
So, yes Epsilon is a benevolent person, out to mend the bruised and battered.
Only have a little in Medicine (+5) but no Med Kit... picking fights with the paramedics might work!

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Sorry, I didn't realise the gameplay thread was up! Had the busiest 2-3 weeks at work that just ended though, so I might have missed it!
Pangaea, seeing you again! So with the mystic covered, I'll be bringing Thomagar Dayana, the lashunta korasha solarian. Public service message, every 3 rounds in combat, keep more than 10ft away from him. :)

Note: I usually roll last / first initiatives together, but there was a specific event action

I can't get the map to let me edit it. Even got the google doc app. Normally I can so long as I have permission, but the other games I've been in have used Google slides which is probably the difference. I'll keep trying and see if I can figure out why and fix it, would rather not spend the whole AP making others move my mini so to speak.
GM Wolfspirit |
Weird. Is it an IOS thing? I've had some people have issues moving maps on mobile, but never with Google Drawing Specifically.
We'll get through this combat and check for alternatives.
Cestkion |
It could be, I'm on an iPhone too, and honestly almost all my post will be from here. Not really a problem before. And I'm fine with that, I'll probably be moving a decent amount to capitalize on the Operative trick movement but nothing too wild. Maybe I can use diagrams :D
Thomagar Dayana |
I think that's 'cos GM is using Google Drawings, not Google Slides. I think the ios browsers don't support Google Drawings beyond view mode, and I don't think there are apps for it either.
DICEBOT |
Do androids need to use the lavatory?
DICEBOT HAS TWO SETTINGS FOR DEFECATION!
GM Wolfspirit |
One minor question for anyone that might be familiar: the module assumes that you aren't Starfinders and need to secure your own lodging. Would the Lorespire Complex have free lodging for you?
There is a minor "operating expenses" that you're given regardless, I was just wondering if I should deduct the money lodging is suggested to cost and assume you stay there.
Jadzia Bainbridge |
I'm assuming that an AP section played in SFS mode all credit rewards and costs would be accounted for in the amount provided on the chronicle.
In game i guess any credits on hand could be used to purchase items and then paid for at the end - kind of like getting an advance on your pay.
I've not played any APs outside of playing in campaign mode so i'm not really sure how this is handled, i'm just taking my best guess at what makes sense to me.
GM Wolfspirit |
Yeah, that's kind of what I thought. I'll just assume you can find lodging without paying for it, and we'll go with that.
The next section involves a bit of investigation gated by a variety of Culture / Diplomacy / Intimidate checks at various DCs. I had surprise family coming over so I haven't quite finished up, but I hope to have the post up tomorrow.
Pangea-Epsilon |
I think the SFS rules are that anything we purchase with money found in the game (on CredSticks etc.) that is a consumable (grenades, spell ampoule etc.), must be counted as spent money at the end of the game. If we buy guns and stuff we do not keep at the end, that is not discounted.
Except money from the Starfinder Society (for example, if we get 200 Cr. directly from the Society that is mission money so can be used on anything - including consumables - and not counted).
And, in general, money for food, drink, lodging, and foot massages is not counted.
So, in a meta-gaming way, best to keep the 200 Cr. to purchase consumables and use the money found on the gangers etc. for the rest.
GM Wolfspirit |
Will need to push the post back until tomorrow. But there is some room for RPing what you'll be doing for investigation stuff ;)
Thomagar Dayana |
Hey guys, I'll be on vacation from today for a week. Posting is likely to be patchy. Please bot freely. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I expect that will happen quite a bit through the end of the year for people, no need to apologize. If there is a block of days that is particularly busy for the group, we can have a brief break, just keep me updated. RL > PbP.
I should be around more or less, myself
GM Wolfspirit |
I don't want to push -too- hard, but you've probably gotten all you can out of the ysoki.
On the subject of pushing, this part of the module is probably the most open ended (before a lot more rail-roady "dungeon" crawls coming up.) I'm trying to give enough freedom to enjoy, but still keep things moving. I'm happy to get some feedback on how much to push for things like this.
GM Wolfspirit |
It's funny. The AP really doesn't expect you to try and meet with the Hardscrabble collective yet, but I think I can make this work. Will post tonight.
Jadzia Bainbridge |
It is weird to provide information about them and not have the scenario warn us off going to them like we were with the other corporation.
GM Wolfspirit |
If I had to guess, there was initially going to be more to the investigation of the murder before easing into the Two Corporations / Drift Rock, but that got condensed down. Also, in a tabletop game, I wouldn't have mentioned the two corps and had you investigate on your own, but that one post could have taken up a month's worth of gameplay if it had been an organic investigation. I'm definitely interested in people's feedback on how to try and improve things as I'm sure I'm going to run this again.
Pangea-Epsilon |
Just off the top of my head, for having run this a couple times before - but first time playing it, and it is fun! (that's why I stay in the back and do not make decisions much, and chose a Healer)... anyhow: I thought I remember there being something about not being able to contact the Hardscrabble: you only get a recording.
(and I do not mind at all about being able to see them, or not, I am only stating this re. what I remain of the adventure as written since this is being mentioned).
