Zulu, a calm among the chaos of the bathing room, sends a charge of plasma - humming with electricity - into the cultist’s chest! The armor is burnt away, leaving a serious burn beneath.

Lenny, unable to see the cultist, continues to wash. You are inside, so Lenny and Zoran can’t see him right now. I just put in some little brown lines to attempt to better identify the walls in that corner.

Clank, I need a reflex save from you from the grenade last round.

Davrin, used to carrying weapons in a bathhouse, snaps up his pistol and sends a shot right into the cultist’s knee! He collapses to the floor, unconscious.

The room is quiet for a moment, with only Pippimi’s heavy breathing and the gentle lullaby of the bath song to break the moment. But something never leaves your mind: The sniper is still in the statue.

I was seriously tempted to scoff at this religious hokum and just take the -2. Zulu has walked face first into every negative condition this adventure so far. But I suppose participating in an ancient cleansing tradition is a learning experience

Yikes, twelve days?! This encounter certainly does draw on, but I really like it. It’s quite unique.

The group cleans rather thoroughly, on high alert from the presence of danger. Tension is high... until it is broken by Ralkawi’s voice in your ears. ”Uh... I got bored. Destruction is so much more interesting. I’m coming in! Maybe I can help! Got an extra pistol?” There is a pause... ”Or maybe one of those Blastwerks grenades Pipp keeps going on about?”

After about thirty seconds, Lenny and Zoran stand up from the pool. Every inch of showing skin has been washed in the (mildly disgusting, stagnant, and scummy) water. Each can hear a soft sound in their ear, like a content child sighing in relief.

After about six seconds of washing, everyone in the bathing room hears a BANG!

Zoran has worked his way through the room with the pews, leaping over the body of the cultist. Ignoring the beautiful carvings on the walls, the borai is far more concerned with the shirren sniper crouched at the top of the stairs! Luckily for him, his speed caught her by surprise. The bullet smashes into the stone wall behind him, lodging in deep. Lenny catches up and the pair nearly make it to the bottom of the next flight of stairs!

The rest of the group fights their every instinct to run and help, instead continuing to bathe. But, seconds later, Clank and Davrin hear a soft exhaling in their ear. An elven voice almost moans, ”Pure...”. But this is cut off by another BANG! from inside the statue!

Lenny and Zoran ran as fast as they could, but not as fast as the sniper could reload!

The shot hits the solarian square in the chest, but he was ready for it! Angled in the right way, the thick armor deflected the bullet into the ground.

The group moves in on the trapped sniper. Her head swivels back and forth, trying to find an exit as Lenny and Zoran block the stairs! Seeing none, her face fills with resolve. Her voice fills your minds. "You will be consumed, same as I..." She reloads the weapon and fires it into Zoran's chest! This time is penetrates.

Zulu continues his bath for just a bit longer, recording the intensifying sounds of battle with something approaching apprehension and ... worry.

Was he worried about his crew without him? That was unusual and felt... odd.

The android was certainly experiencing a multitude of new ... feelings ... since starting this journey, he would need some down time to do some deep proceeding of all this new and changing information.

Fumbling with the ungainly sniper rifle, the shirren is unable to take advantage of Lenny and Zoran's weak moments. Lenny doesn't care, his summoned weapon slicing through the shirren's armor. Davrin's shot pierces her abdomen, blood squirting onto the floor as she gets even more flustered by the many enemies around her. Yet, her resolve stays. She growls and drops the large rifle to the ground, drawing a sword in the same motion. The sword is rusted on the handle but the blade is clean and sharp. Lenny has no time to appreciate the artistic molding of a black hole set into the blood channels as the sword cuts into his armor!

Zulu's head snaps up and around as a disembodied voice speaks in his ear.

Fascinating.

Lacking time to fully decipher and ponder the meaning of the ghostly voice invading his head, Zulu hefts his rifle and charges up the steps towards the sound of battle.

I haven't done the math to be sure, but to clarify, the sniper is only flat-footed if the shot hit, AND it was a successful trick attack.

Davrin slowly moves up the stairs, looking for an opening into the room. In the meantime, he continues to fire, trying to not hit his teammates.

Pippimi hears a bunch of air elementals zooming about and pipes up with "Go and bite-bite! Pippimi cheering for you from here!" She stays floating in the pool, rolls onto her back and stares up at the rather nice ceiling, happy to take a breather while the others take care of this crazy person telepathizing some weird stuff.

Another cleansing round. There'll be two more where those came from.

Pippimi continues to perform the ritual cleansing, aware of all of the corporate bonding she's missing upstairs. Then, Ralkawi walks through the door. The lashunta looks at the skittermander and laughs. "Watcha doing? Looks weird. Is this the sorta thing you do at Blastworks?" She snorts and shakes her head. "Where the dudes at? Still fighting my mates?" She rolls her eyes, like she doesn't care.

Meanwhile, upstairs...

Davrin shoots around the corner, trying to bend his bullets. Unfortunately, this isn't like the movies, his projectiles sink into the wall. Yepp, the cover did ya in. Lenny, distracted by the voices and his ally's bullet, ducked for cover rather than striking!

Reflex, DC 15: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Grease flies across the room, covering the cultist's sword! It slips out of her hand, clattering on the floor next to her rifle! Then, the trio of air elementals returns to harass the shirren! She cries out in irritation, then pain! "No! Die, air-fiends!"

The trio of air goblins fly around the shirren in a mini-whirlwind, drawing hundreds of small scratches from her exposed skin. Blood pouring down her face, she gasps and falls to the floor, dead.

COMBAT OVER! Phew. Nicely done.

Davrin looks down on himself, pleasantly surprised that he has once again, come through a battle unscathed. (This is not an invitation for the GM, by the way.)

"You guys take a breather. Let me dig around." Davrin very methodically searches through the bodies of the sniper and the cultists. When down, he turns his attention to the rather strange temple. Rather belatedly, he yells down the hall, "Pip, you can come up now!"

Clank is both incredibly pleased and mildly disturbed by the bloodthirsty efficiency of his Summons. For their part, they sweep around looking for more enemies for a few more seconds before vanishing to whatever life-hating plane they apparently came from. Then the goblin moves ahead to examine the sniper that had been causing them so much grief. "And here I was worried that they had some sort of a bolt hole and would be a recurring villain rather than a bug to squash." He looks around for Pippimi and realizes he might have mad a species-insensitive remark, and speeds along before getting a lecture.

"Anyway, remind me never to get on the bad side of a bunch of swarming elementals." He starts to rifle through the slain cultists' gear.

After finishing the dip in the pool, Pippimi rolls out and takes a look around the statue, ooh-ing and aah-ing at all the elven art on the walls. When she sees the party, she waves at them with four paws. "Hullo hi everyone! Pippimi so proud you handle danger without her!" She deflates slightly "But she also feeling like she miss out. Not get to teach shirren lesson."

She doesn't seem much bothered by Clank's bug comment (maybe Veskarium corps don't have diversity training?), but she does nod energetically at his comment about elementals "Pippimi hoping no enemies think to summon!"

Once she's with everyone else she starts taking a look around the circular room in the head of the statue.

After the battle subsides Lenny looks to Ralkawi.

Ideally, we should simply be moving on quickly and getting back on the trail. However, do you believe that there's anything significant about this place? Or was it likely just a random spot that they choose to leave a sniper behind, knowing we were on their trail?

Zulu's charge up the stairs is slowed when he hears the team give the all clear. Reaching the site of the final battle he cant help but feel a little satisfied this sniper that had been hounding them was no more.

While the group debates moving on and searches the bodies, Zulu looks around the temple, recording all he can see.

The team, always the realists, checks the place over and finds no more life forms within. Then, searching the bodies, you find three suits of armor - though all lacking any more environmental protections. kasatha microcord I and two suits of lashunta ringwear I. The armaments are of some interest, though none are particularly high tech. tactical dueling sword, tactical shirren-eye rifle with 50 longarm rounds, defiant longsword x2, shock grenades I (2), utility scattergun with 25 scattergun shells x2 Of more interest are the the credsticks, totally 1500 credits. Measly, I know. Don't worry, more will come... While you go through their pockets, Ralkawi walks up. She kicks the bodies of the first two goons, "Jerks. Leaving me for dead. Good riddance." She then approaches the shirren, shaking her head. "Salask. Freaky chick, she was. A true believer. Loved watching the torture-vids you can find on those dark-sites." Her mouth twists into a grimace. "Gross."

On Salask's body you manage to find a com unit. It's password protected, but Ralkawi just shrugs. "Don't look at me. Try 1234. That always works." Give me a computers check to hack in!

Looting dealt with, you explore the site. You all had a good chance to look at the constellations of the bathing room during your ritualistic cleaning, but the center room is more interesting. The walls in the gallery where the cultists were waiting displays elven believers beneath a sky of stars. They depict elves using needles to tattoo one another with constellations, geometric designs, and strange runic patterns. Carved along the ceiling are twelve stylized elven figures, heavily tattooed, adorned in different ways, and marked with starbursts on their foreheads. In this room Ralkawi bends over, holding her head. "Wow, this headache is just terrible. Anybody got some water? And not any of that moldy water y'all were washing in."

The room holding Salask's body has some natural lighting, much more than the dark rooms below. This domed room has numerous open skylights and windows, creating a steady flow of outside air. A ring of slime mold forms a misshapen circular pattern on the floor. Your feet scrape off pieces of the mold, revealing carvings beneath. Unfortunately, the carvings also collect water and bits of organic matter, promoting the ring of mold. By taking a few minutes to clean the floor, you can uncover the original pattern as well as the surrounding designs. Many of these resemble words and letters from the strange writing you found on the Drift Rock! Looking out through the slits letting in starlight, you can see clear fields of fire into the plaza you crossed earlier. Perfect for a sniper.

Perception, DC 19:

An elegant wall tapestry threaded with opal beads once hung in this room. It decayed long ago, scattering its beads across the floor. You are able to find 15 of these beads, each of which is worth 80 credits.

A second, much steeper staircase branches off the main stairs, leading to a 60-foot-long series of ladderlike handholds that ascend to the upraised palm of the Stargazer’s hand (DC 5 Athletics check to climb). The slightly cupped hand lost its delicate guardrails long ago, but there is still space for several creatures to stand here.

Alright! Do you want to take a ten minute break? Do you want to hang out here for the remaining few hours before nightfall dawn and sleep?

Davrin picks up the rifle lying on the ground, studying it with an intent eye, nodding slowly to himself. "I like this. Never really used on before but might come in useful." The small halfling looks about comical touting that around, but he doesn't seem to notice.
