I want to apologize for my absence I came down with some hellish virus thing and was hospitalized on Monday. I was recently released and am trying to get back on my feet. I hope to have updates to all my games by tonight or tomorrow morning by the latest.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 2

Considering how often Vidar insults the foes, I really should try to make him more durable.

I dunno, you haven't gotten killed in all this time, seems to me you are plenty durable. Guess we will see how this fight goes though, lol.

Well when your some where in the back throwing insults instead of spells you don't seem to draw much attention.....just saying....

I will be traveling next week, but expect to have access to post in the evenings. A little jaunt to try new cycling trails that have been built on retired railbeds. Primary concern right now is the storms that seem to be a nightly occurrence in that part of the country.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 2

So we're back to four again, Heh, keeping the fifth slot, not to mention the fifth slot hasn't been easy, then again, it took sometime to find a DM that stuck.
I wouldn't mind trying to fill one or two slots back up at some point.

What's the context? Haven't we been at four for quite a while? I'm game for a fifth or sixth player - have someone in mind?

EDIT: Yeah, Cristiel and Rullis both last posted here May 2015. I think they were our last to step off the wagon.

Cristiel was only here for a short time. Pretty sure she joined at the same time Sayniek did.

Yeah, I knew she didn't have the longest tenure. I really hate that we lost some of our originals after so long. I am actually not one of the originals - I think I was the first to sub in.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 2

Hey, don't ask for context! When you ask for context, you undermine my feelings on the matter mate.
No real context, I just enjoy five/six band groups, more chance for people to specialize, more chance for banter and what not.
Mind you, we're not doing so badly here haha.
Could be a case of player compatibility, could be a case of character compatibility.

I confess I enjoy 5/6 as well. It's honestly strange to me to see how people come and go on the boards. If there is interest I can try to fill a slot to beef us up a bit.

If you can get someone else, great. If not, we can work as 4.

<-- Confused

Sorry, didn't mean to offend. I just didn't understand where the remark came from. It sounded like you were commenting on something that just happened, but our current roster has been steady for a year, so I thought you were referring to something specific - thus the context request.

I would be happy to have another player or two join us. I'm happy with the current group. So, do as you will.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 2

I don't know! Camillo confused me with...logic...and...reason!
Curses, foiled again.

Haha, but seriously,I'm not offended, I was merely making a joke.
I suppose what made me think of it in the first place was simply that we're starting to get back into a regular groove again, after having had a few slow periods, so the absence of extra people became a little more noticeable.

Egads! I hadn't realized I had drifted so far out of character, but you are right. My apologies! ;-)

Yeah, I have had moments where I thought we should have another character take an action, so I know what you mean.

A letter from her sister:

My sister,

I trust your little band of murderers is doing well, gathering the greedy souls for our Lord's rise? Has Magnimar proven to be as sinful as you hoped? It may interest you to know that my play to nurture greed amongst this ignorant backwater has blossomed - the quality of greed in a soul is so much more refined when given the proper care. Are you still simply carving the rune on them as they expire? Crude, for for sure dear sister, you should try my much more elegant practices some time. In any event, I'm sure that your plans to harvest greed "in the wild" are progressing well enough, I just hope that your raw, ungroomed, and inferior victims don't spoil the purity of mine own effort. If you tire of your project know that you are always welcome to come to Turtleback Ferry and serve as my assistant. Fort Rannick should be in our control by the time this reaches you in any event, so there will be plenty of room for you if you wish to come crawling back.

Oh! I forget! Poached the Lord-Mayor yer? By all accounts he might be the cream of that crop over there, and he might be at least as good as what I am harvesting here. Something to consider.

Lucrecia

Initial thoughts:

Camillo is interested in the snakeskin tunic because of the dexterity enhancement, but that item would be most effective for someone without armor. Would Vidar get more bang for the buck?

He already has a Sihedron medallion.

He has no interest in the impaler of thorns because he is going to make his rapier his bonded object, so that's the weapon he will almost have to use.

We could distribute the healing potions evenly easily enough.

We only have one Small character in the party. If she doesn't want the kukri, a +2 weapon is worth pretty good coin - or perhaps she can trade the weapon for enhancement on her preferred blade. Camillo's fine with her claiming the blade and trading it in.

The ring of jumping and the medusa mask are interesting, but he's not going to put in a very strenuous claim for either of them. Recent events have shown the benefit of the golembane scarab, but Camillo might not be the best to carry it - or perhaps he's exactly the best to carry it since the other hitters may hit harder by virtue of their weaponry.

The letter is very interesting. I will comment on it IC.

The +2 Kukri is beautiful. However, it is more of an assassin's weapon, not really to blade for a paladin of a deity of vengeance. Sayniek's blade is a bastard sword. She will definitely seek to upgrade her bastard sword and/or her shield.

I thought as much. It will make a very sizable downpayment on enchanting a weapon, if that's what someone decides to do. The line of credit we just got from Krinst would finish it off for someone's +2 weapon.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 2

Don't forget, Vidar is a bit of a crafter, so when we have the time, items can be made at a steal rate.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 2

By the way, travelling to a new place like this, if we wanted to try and recruit one or two new players, this seems like a good place to try and do it at, I guess?

Female Assimar(Idyllkin) Oracle of Battle/4 - Paladin/2 [HP 61/61; AC27,T13,FF26; F+12,R+7,W+11; Per+7; Init +1(roll twice)]

But I have just barely started getting you all housebroken.

So the question is do I do an open recruitment like last time or should I try hitting up my other games to see if I can snag a couple folks I might already know?

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 2

Well, the second option might be better, since they already know your style, which also makes it easier to integrate them.
So try that first I'd say.

Bard (Arcane Duelist) 3/UC Rogue 4 | AC 22/14/18 (uncanny dodge), hp 42/46; 10/10 Bardic; Effect: None

Agreed. Bring in friends and known associates. Open recruitment seems to produce really off-the-wall - and temporary - party members.

Do we have a preference for the type of character? It seems to me that we have about everything covered at least partially, so the request can be pretty open, right?

I'll throw it out to my groups in the morning, based on who shows interest I can guide them back over here to talk through concepts.

Female Assimar(Idyllkin) Oracle of Battle/4 - Paladin/2 [HP 61/61; AC27,T13,FF26; F+12,R+7,W+11; Per+7; Init +1(roll twice)]

Well, lets evaluate what we have.

1) an alcoholic spinster masquerading as a mage
2) a drunk with aggression issues
3) a slow midget who enjoys chastising her companions when they stray from her view of good
4) a second rate entertainer

So what do we need to fill out the party. I am thinking a drug addicted cartoonist or a slightly over the hill belly dancer would fit in well. If nothing else, a brewer would save Kithian and Vidar a boatload of cash. Or anyone with the middle name of "Pyromaniac".

Male Half Orc Barbarian 5/ Oracle 1/ RP 1, Perception +7, Darkvision, Fort +8/ Ref +1/ Will +3, Init +4, AC 18, HP :76

I vote for the chunky belly dancer!!

Hey, that's recovering alcoholic, thank you very much. Oh, and I'm not a spinster, either. ;D

HE is good at masquerading as a mage to a point, but all that fancy sword swinging is gonna give it away, keep those perform ranks high.

Male Half Orc Barbarian 5/ Oracle 1/ RP 1, Perception +7, Darkvision, Fort +8/ Ref +1/ Will +3, Init +4, AC 18, HP :76

Female Assimar(Idyllkin) Oracle of Battle/4 - Paladin/2 [HP 61/61; AC27,T13,FF26; F+12,R+7,W+11; Per+7; Init +1(roll twice)]

Hmmmm - perhaps we should be recruiting a rehab counselor instead.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 2

You are clearly the second rate entertainer, which would make me the aggressive drunk.

As for what we need, well, it should be a woman, because in this part, the history points at "women being wise" trope being in full play.

On a more serious note though...
Back in 2nd edition, they said you should always double up on the warrior first, but we already have two pretty good warriors, so that may not be the first choice.

We have three characters that can heal, so a dedicated healer could allow them to focus on other things, but at the same time, it makes the need for one pretty low.

The fact is...we cover pretty much all the standard bases well, meaning there is plenty of openings to mess around with.

Naturally, I will murder any fellow wizard for their spellbook, but aside from that...

I've got a couple folks from my Kingmaker game interested so they will show up here and talk through options...and hopefully avoid being murdered by Vidar.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 2

No promises, it is just a question what is more valuable, they or the gear they come with.

And so it was that Devon did unwittingly lay out a honey trap for the wizard and he did build his magical empire upon a heap of slaughtered newcomers...

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 2

Mwahahaha! You have seen my plan, so now you too must die!

Scarab Sages

Speaking of new folks. Hi! I'm Choon.

I have several options for your consideration:
Igor. A Blue Psion(shaper) and his imaginary friend Frank who makes real world appearances as Igor's Astral Construct.

Abrasax: Basically the One Ring, but intelligent. Forcefully inhabits surrounding people/wildlife for mobility. Super smooth talker. Know it all. Thinks little of meat based life. Kinda evil. Unique race.

Sagol: Amplified Rage Skald who plays his raging song upon the skulls he's smashing with his specially designed hollow great club. Sure to make everyone rock harder than headbangers in a drum shop.

Pinocchio: Exactly what you just thought. Disney's favorite not-real boy. Arcane Trickster.

Sadly, none are belly dancers. Though Sagol might tip Camillo there off the sober wagon.
Abrasax can be a woman when it suits... it.
Sagol would also overlap rather heavily with Sayniek.
Igor has a spell book, but he's a wyrwood so I'm not sure murdering him is technically possible. Sorry Vidar.
I'm not sure if psionics is in play, so that may take Igor off the table.
What do youall think?

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 2

I REFUSE to stop my murdering ways merely because it serves no purpose!

AC 13/11/11 | 2/5/6 | HP 44 | Init +2, Percep. +10 CMD 13 Slots: | 1st-8 2nd-7 3rd-4 | Arcane Bolt 9/day

A man of Principle! I like it!

Seriously though, which would you like me to play? Because I'm leaning toward the Abrasax if Devon is willing to work with me. That or Pinocchio here.

Oh my stars that avatar is terrifying.

Funny enough this party has some experience with creatures that are possessed by others...I'm not sure that ingratiates them to your proposed idea or not. I'm honestly sort of intrigued by the ring but the kinda evil part might be a problem with a paladin around.

I'm fine with Pinocchio in principle. Getting him into Sandpoint should be amusing. The name makes me roll my eyes a little, but in good humor, lol.

Sayneik and Choon you played together in the amber isle game, fyi.

@Vidar - If you refuse to murder for no reason that leaves me no choice but to...er...find a reason for you to do it? How about for treasure and the greater good? Yay D&D! Rehabilitating the murderous since 1974!

Abrasax doesn't technically have to be evil. It could totally be Neutral. He operates kinda like a synthesist summoner. He finds bodies and takes them over. The longer he stays, the more likely the body is to suffer permanent brain damage/death. But he is practically immobile on his own.
I envision gear would be passed down from one body to the next.

Scarab Sages

Those racial abilities and such are also very negotiable, and geared for lvl 2, so they would be much more powerful if we were to scale to 6.

Scarab Sages

In the mean time I'll re-learn how to build an arcane trickster, just in case.

Bard (Arcane Duelist) 3/UC Rogue 4 | AC 22/14/18 (uncanny dodge), hp 42/46; 10/10 Bardic; Effect: None

The rest of the party is relatively standard builds, if optimized, so I would be a lot more comfortable for the new character to be of the same stripe.

I guess I'm old-school.

Scarab Sages

Oh that's perfectly fine. Abrasax is way out in left field and I know it. I have no qualms dusting off the stringless puppet. I mainly posted that stat array so Devon could have a look.
