Sven manages to get his shield up in time to block the enormous gust of icy breath. Finding the beast outside his reach, the big man focuses on directing his comrades.

"Kalt, bring that thing down! Avora, clips its wings with your magic!"

Kalt glances at his great blade regretfully, sighs, and drops it clanging to the floor. Slipping his bow off his shoulder, he says, "You be ready to kill it when it comes back down here, eh, Bjornson?"

He nocks an arrow to the bow, then raises, draws and fires it in one smooth motion.

Avora strikes at the foe as he rises, her spear lashing out but finding only scales. Once the dragon is in the air, it blasts her with icy breath that withers her body, but not her spirit. She retaliates with a few words of druidic, unleashing a blast of holy fire from the heavens above!

Kalt lands another telling blow before hitting with a well placed arrow. Sven channels his leadership skills while Avora hits the dragon lord with holy fire though Yrax dodges some of it. Lana!

Lana moves forward and begins drawing on the energy around her to cause her comrades' steps to lighten! Casting air walk, communal, assuming I can touch people as they come near me. I can get Avora and Shanya this turn, and hopefully Sven and Kalt can come over on their turns? If not, I'll just ready to cast and cast when everyone's adjacent.

Kalt manages to dodge much of the fire's effect! He steps closer to Lana, then raises his bow and draws back the string a few inches, ready to draw and loose if Yrax attempts another spell!

Avora takes the brunt of the fireball, the flames engulfing her body. When the smoke clears, she lies unmoving, her once-attractive body and face now burned nearly beyond recognition. She manages to gasp, "Sven..." before her spear slips from her lifeless grasp.

-34 hit points puts Avora well-beyond her negative Constitution. She is dead, barring a raise dead or resurrection. Sorry, guys.

Having just stared Urgathoa in the face and more or less given her a high-five as she passed by, Shanya does the only sensible thing she can do.

Gotta wait 'til he casts a spell, then I'll git him! But I do wonder if I should keep arching or use airwalk to get up close and personal.

As everyone comes together, Lana casts a spell empowering the party! Kalt readies a shot to disrupt any casting while Sven tends to Avora who is bearly alive. Shanya decides that discretion is the better part of valor as she hightails it. Yrax attempts to cast a spell as Kalt shoots an arrow at him.

And he is so surprised by someone so rude as to shoot him while he casts that he fails to cast it! Party is up again!

He's only 30 feet up.

Seeing his friend stride through the air toward the dragon, Kalt decides it's time to take the fight to the arrogant beast. Wishing he had time to put it away, Kalt drops his bow, scoops his sword off the floor, and steps into the air to arrive at the dragon's opposite side.

Free action to drop bow, move action to pick up sword from adjacent square, move action (using extra move speed from BoF) to get into flank with Sven.

The dragon's mighty bite nearly drops Kalt! As he's reeling from the blow, Yrax's tale whips around, striking him down!

The second hit would put Kalt at -20 hp, which is dead. The last time I used a hero point was June 2015, and I had one left at that point. So, I should have at least two right now. Lana may save me with breath of life. If not, I’d like to spend two hero points to cheat death.

Well if the bite drops you, the tail will go on Sven. No need to waste attacks on unconscious people. Save the Hero Point.

Oy, you're right about shield other. I did some mathing. I had not included the halving of damage from shield other or the temp hit points from aid. With those included, Lana would have taken 34 points of damage from shield other, plus 10 more from life link. Kalt would have been at 98/105 when Yrax attacked this round. Yrax’s attacks did 67, which is 33 more to Lana and 34 more to Kalt, putting him at 64/105 and very much still in the fight.

Kalt grunts and grimaces in pain as the dragon strikes, but Lana’s magics divert much of the damage he’s suffered. He retaliates, striking the dragon with incredible speed!
