Creydon seeks hidden loot - or phylacteries.

Dont give the GM ideas, or the liche’s soul will actually be in a pastry, and one of us will end up eating it
GM Kevin O'Rourke |
Ye are able to find a hidden side room.
This crypt contains three stone sarcophagi, each bearing detailed carvings of hundreds of capering skeletons and dancing corpses.
It does occur that if limited to such a small area the liche might create something more robust than typical... like a sarcophagus.
Azalia |
Think there are more bad guys in there? says Azalia, fearing the worst, but hoping for more treasure.
Marten Daseto |
"We'll soon find out. Be ready," Marten replies to Azalia.
"Drazh, show us how smart you are and lift the heavy thing." Marten indicates the closest sarcophagus lid.

Max carry capacity is 520 pounds. Because armor is mithril, he is currently carrying a bit over 100 pounds, roughly. So he should be able to carry somewhere around 500 pounds. Please tell me if you need an exact number
”Oh? Aye then, lad. And while I do this show me how strong ye are by figuring out where the soul is hidden.” He chuckled as he lifted the heavy sarcophagus lid.

A wave of dark energy ripples through the room as it seems the strength and vitality from your flesh.
All creatures in the room take [ooc]14d6[/dice] points of negative energy damage every other round (Will DC 25 half) undead creatures are instead healed for a like amount (they do not g a in excess healing as temporary hit points).
@Creydon Anneka healed you on Friday the 10th of January... 3 hit points... it's like he likes being dead! :P
Loot
11 Spellbooks. Each of these spellbooks bears the occasional notation written in Thassilonian. All necromantic spells between level one and eight(!) from the core rulebook and Prismatic spray. Ye already have access to all level 1-6 spells in the core rulebook so not noting them
The second coffin contains 7,000 gp in mixed jewels, gems, and fine linens Azaven stores for fabricate spells
Ever smoking bottle
Golembane scarab
The final coffin is itself Azaven's phylactery (hardness 20, hp 150, Break DC 50). Coffin meet Drazh

The actual damage didn't come through correctly, but here is my saving throw.
Will Save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
I could be actually dead at this point since max damage is well over my HP total, but for the moment let us assume I am alive...
Azalia grabs the loot and runs out of the room, not being sure how to make the pain stop, and hoping that Drazh would smash whatever it is that was harming them.

With the wave hitting them, Drazh retreated out of the room, dragging any fallen comrades if needed. Then he went back in to finish the job...
Will Save #2 to smash the sarcophagus: 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 17 + 2 = 22
Damage: 7d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 1, 5, 6, 1, 2) = 21
Total Damage to Drazh: 32 + 29 + 21 = 82
Can’t Hit DC50 sunder. Even with a natural 20. So need to break it. +2 damage adaptable study, +1 Vampiric might, +3 defensive stance. Also getting +4 Con from Augment. Gives him 56 temp Hp in total
Damage with acid, move and attack: 2d6 + 1d6 + 29 - 20 ⇒ (6, 5) + (4) + 29 - 20 = 24

Damage with acid, move and attack: 2d6 + 1d6 + 29 - 20 ⇒ (3, 6) + (4) + 29 - 20 = 22
Damage to Sarcophagus: 79 + 22 + 18 + 22 + 19 = 160
Drazh HP left: 154 - 112 = 42
56 temp HP from defensive stance, and can reroll failed will Saves while in defensive stance. So could tank out about another 4 waves if need be, but he’d need healing ASAP to avoid promptly dying
”Everyone out! Stay the fook back. I got this.” Drazh rolled his shoulders and made a few practice swings with his hammer. ”Nay gonna let some feeble magic stop me. This dwarf has a hammer and all I have to do is break some stone. So watch, Marten. Gonna show ye that not even the best protections of a liche can do shyt against a dwarf whose put his mind to something.”
Stubbornly ignoring what anyone else had to say, Drazh walked back inside. Gritting his teeth against the pain he went to work swinging his hammer. Wave after wave of negative energy washed over him, and still he stood his ground. Enough raw magic infused him to wipe out a platoon of soldiers, and yet still he held his ground. Even when blood began to leak from his eyes and mouth he still kept on swinging, refusing to give ground. Because he had something to prove. That even in a world of magic, where men could cheat death and could walk between worlds, there was still a need for people like him. People whose only skill was swinging a weapon and being too stubborn to die. That martials could stand on their own two feet! He was a dwarf with something to prove, and no matter how stupid it was, he was going to go through with it.

I noted the hp total in my reply post but never actually changed Creydon's tagline. Hah!
Creydon is struck by the wave of dark energy!

Will Save DC 25, with +2 assuming that he's within 5ft of Drazh and familiar: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 14 + 2 = 19

"Yes, yes, you're very brave. Be ready."
When Drazh is ready, he'll cast a telekinetic charge on him and fling him at the coffin.
I also have a bear's endurance spell for Drazh, but I imagine it probably doesn't stack with some of the self-enhancements he already has.

With full night’s rest, what resources will it take to heal Drazh’s 112 wounds? And...everyone else’s? We all got hit pretty hard by that room. As for spells, longstrider cast on myself and Ferocia, giving us both +10ft movement speed
Creydon Clay |
"Nice work! Before we bed down, I think I have a tune that might help ease our many, many wounds. I call it a "soothing performance"."
Creydon pulls out his fantastical lyre and plays it softly. This time not using its inherent construction magic but his own bardic powers.
Soothing Performance (Su): A bard of 12th level or higher can use his performance to create an effect equivalent to the mass cure serious wounds, using the bard’s level as the caster level. In addition, this performance removes the fatigued, sickened, and shaken condition from all those affected. Using this ability requires 4 rounds of continuous performance, and the targets must be able to see and hear the bard throughout the performance. Soothing performance relies on audible and visual components.
1st Mass Cure Serious Wounds hp: 3d8 + 14 ⇒ (1, 2, 3) + 14 = 20
2nd Mass Cure Serious Wounds hp: 3d8 + 14 ⇒ (7, 8, 4) + 14 = 33
3rd Mass Cure Serious Wounds hp: 3d8 + 14 ⇒ (6, 1, 1) + 14 = 22
4th Mass Cure Serious Wounds hp: 3d8 + 14 ⇒ (7, 1, 3) + 14 = 25
5th Mass Cure Serious Wounds hp: 3d8 + 14 ⇒ (4, 5, 2) + 14 = 25
125 hp healed
Creydon ends his performance after two minutes and looks around, seeing no more open wounds.
"I should have tried playing that sooner! One to remember for the future."
Bardic Performance 4/36. HP went from 46/101 to 101/101

"It has had thousands of very active years in use of acts aligned in a manner mystically at odds from his own. To oppose Karzoug you'll also need something appropriate from the Shimmering Veils. With their essences combined you can forge a dominant weapon."
Staring down at Ferocia while she makes her suggestion the woman with the auburn hair razes an eyebrow. "No but how about another task.... one that would undermine Karzoug. You can have the man but only if you claim Orikidon's head, he is Karzougs loyal servant and a skilled transmutter. It would dispose of our enemy and yours. That would be a reasonable agreement wouldn't it? Be warned however he has transmuted himself into living mithral... and seeing as he is a loyal servant of the Runelord of Greed combined with the fact you are filling your bags with all sorts of valuables consider he might seek to claim those riches whether you come for him or not."

Azalia |
Azalia's eyes light up. She'd never heard of living mithral, but it sounded pretty valuable. She supposed it would just be normal, dead mithral once they killed the thing, but still.
On the other hand, it seemed like they were getting cheated by these insane harpies, so she was okay with killing them as well. She just waited for someone to indicate which way they were going.
Creydon Clay |
Creydon tries to focus on the big picture.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (4) + 22 = 26
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30
Marten Daseto |
"And where can we find Orikidon?"
Please disregard. I see from the Discussion thread that this guy is probably in the Greed branch of Runeforge. I recommend we find a place to rest up before going in there. Unless Marten is the only one down on spells or daily abilities. If nobody else is, he can squeak by.

"The power balance has shifted once more, we're well positioned to take advantage of that. But it will still take skill and grace to capitalise on that. That could be said for all the factions but we will prevail."

"Fine," Ferocia replies. "We kill Orikidon and you give us him." She gestures to the man in the cage. Long since used to dealing with fey and others who dance around deals, Ferocia adds in a few points for clarity's sake. "Don't touch him or mess with him while we're gone. I want him in the exact state he's in now. Deal?"
She'd be pissed if they gave her the man's corpse.

”Right. Let’s go make some coin.” Drazh said, feeling cheerful once more. The fate of the man didn’t really concern him, but it would be a nice bonus to free him. What really mattered though was that he was going to make some truly wondrous boots! Dragon hide AND mithril! He was already imagining the form they would take. Perhaps the dragon’s teeth could be spring loaded? So a solid kick would...that was it! He would call it “dragon’s bite” and it would be yet another heirloom for his clan. Buzzing with excitement, he couldn’t wait for the others to be ready.
Step 1: Craft Blade-Boots
Step 2: At lvl15 I get “Craft magic arms and armor” as a feat from VMC
Step 3: Make the boots Defending, making it an expensive, but cool, addition to his AC
All in all, he will have a Silver Greathammer with a dragon-hide shaft
Mithril fullplate with gold filigree and comfort enchantment
Mithril boots with spring loaded dragon-teeth and dragon-hide inside for comfort
A flask of endless Dwarven ale
I can’t imagine anything that would make a Dwarven adventurer happier than the above

"But what if you are gone for a long time and he gets hungry or thirsty?" The blonde asked mockingly.
"Or if he gets hurt? Oh well... we wont touch him for a while. Don't take much longer than before and we'll restrain ourselves." Another adds before giggling.

A short trip through the main chamber and you begin to enter the Vault of Greed.
A large iron door studded with dozens of colorful gemstones stands in the eastern wall at the end of this corridor. Although the door appears to have no latch, a depression in the center contains a keyhole.
1d20 + 23 ⇒ (1) + 23 = 24
1d20 + 21 ⇒ (7) + 21 = 28
Azalia gains a +1 bonus on all skill checks, attack rolls, and saving throws in this area
Marten and Creydon gain a -2 penalty on all skill checks, attack
rolls, and saving throws
Creydon Clay |
Creydon clutches his head.
"This place...doesn't feel right. The plan is to get done quick. Let's stick to that!"
Azalia |
Are you kidding? This place is great. I feel AMAZING. ... Well, you know, more amazing than usual.
Azalia checks the door for traps:
Perception: 1d20 + 24 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 24 + 1 = 36
If there are none, she proceeds to try to unlock the door:
Disable Device: 1d20 + 29 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 29 + 1 = 42
If that goes well and everyone is still just standing around, then she starts prying some of the gemstones off the door.
GM Kevin O'Rourke |
Azalia can see mechanisms inside the keyhole but quickly realises that these aren't part of a locking mechanism but just the trigger for the trap. Examining some of the surrounding area she sees some slight scratches, it looks like anyone trying to open the 'lock' will get the door rammed into them.... there is no mechanism to pick to actually open the lock here.
