Marten messes around with mage hand for a while before the 'door' violently shunts forwards with considerable force. It them moves back to it's starting position. It didn't swing open but only moved forward.

Could people conceivably step inside the room when the door is fully forward? Or get at the trap's mechanism?

Drazh shrugged. ”Its a trap. A magic one. I can think of two people very qualified to handle that. But if they want, my help, I can start swinging.” He turned and looked at Azalia and Marten, daring them (especially Marten) to ask him for help because their magic couldn’t handle it.

I'd be glad of the help, Drazh, if you think that will work. There is no mechanism to pick in order to unlock the door. All the workings in there are just part of the trap.

The 'door' is like a solid block from what you've seen so no way to step behind or get at the mechanism.

"Obviously, there's a way to bypass the trap with our arcane abilities, but -- and you should know this by now, quite frankly -- we need to preserve such magic for important encounters when a more simple solution is viable.

"So," Marten waves his hand at the door a few times, "Have it it."

Marten will use mage hand when necessary to activate the trap so Drazh can get to different parts of the moving slab.

While the others mess with the fake-door crush-intruders trap for a while, Ferocia looks around at the other walls, part bored and part curious if there's a hidden door around here somewhere.

Perception: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (3) + 19 = 22 +2 higher if stone is involved.


Drazh strikes hard and some malachite chips off cracked, some of the iron buckles beneath the blow. The 'door' retracts back to it's starting position. Its clear that the 'door' isn't so resilient that it will have no effect but quite a few blows from Drazh's hammer will be needed and certain to alert those inside... but it will work.

Ferocia finds little of interest and if there is a hidden door it's extremely well concealed but that is hardly a surprise.

I'm quite happy to conceded Drazh will just bash the thing down without further rolls but he'll make a racket.

I think we've already established that there's heavy scrying going on in Runeforge. Let's tear it up.


A beautiful tunnel of polished wood inlaid with silver and gold runes stretches for at least a hundred feet before ending at a wall of greenish mist sparkling with silver motes of light.

Azalia can detect a strong transmutation aura off the mist.

"I am glad that we have such learned and reasonable types among us!", quips Creydon, grinning.


The gust blows the mist into a chamber beyond is paved with ivory tiles, each one engraved with a silver rune depicting what appears to be a claw gripping a gemstone. The walls and ceiling are of polished marble. A large silver basin in the center of the room contains an icy sculpture of a whale spraying crystal-clear water from its blowhole. The water cascades around it to keep the basin full, but never quite overflowing.

The ghust pushes and disperses it further into rooms beyond though it's just a slight green tint visible now rather than the solid wall of mist.

"I've picked up a little common in my travels. He never said his name just shows up every now and again and attacks us... he's killed a few of us. Are you looking for him? Are you going to kill him?" The little blue man asks hopefully.

"I'm not sure but we've seen him cast a few spells when he comes round. He always comes in flying. He always starts off by pointing at someone, they usually turn to dust, a split second after it's like theres a bunch of him standing in the one spot."

"This one time a few people tried to go on the offensive but he teleported away and then hunted them down after a few minutes. Sometimes he turns us into goldfish! Other times he seems to send us back to the plane of water... but I'm not sure if everyone makes it back. There are these little darts of light he throws out sometimes. Oh and this one time an undine sorceror wound up here with us and he seemed to really dislike it when he got hit by the undine's lightning!"

Can use greater shadow conjuration to replicate chains of light. Also, just a reminder Anneka casts shadow endurance every day and uses her ring of invisibility before anticipated combats.
