Dang, realized last night that I had messed up my equipment. I bought the scrolls as if I had actually bought instead of making them. Changing now.

Changed my stats and feats around a bit so I could utilize my shield in combat better.

Tessarayth wrote:

Or if you don't like the archetype, I can just make her a rogue, and still get prettymuch the same character, though I may have to change a minor detail or two in her backstory. No biggie either way.

The archetype is fine; in fact you are the second archeologist up for consideration. :)

Naomi Fairchild wrote:

I think Naomi's AC is still 1 too high. Technically I believe that with starting wealth your character has that much GP worth of equipment, regardless of the method of acquisition so scrolls would be have to be paid for in full no matter of whether she possessed the feat until getting in game. That said, since there would be plenty of time to scribe during the start of the campaign (a couple of hours day while traveling as per the rules) *I see no harm in allowing them scribed before hand at the half cost to skip the step of posting that you are scribing on the first page of the PbP IC thread.

*Important note for wizard applicants.

Borgorin looks up at the human and nods with a grunt "Now there be someone as knows 'ow tae treat an ole dwarf wit tha proper respect. " squinting, the better to see trough all this damnable fog in the tavern he continues "But tha' be a Chelaxn' accent I detects on ye boy? Never did care much for 'em devil bugger'rs." he then actually audibly sniffs.

"But ye don't have tha stink o' evil on ye. I kin still tell, once n' a while." he boasts, tapping the side of his nose.

"N' I don' suppose one kin be blamed too much jus fer where 'e was born like. Sides' I kin see ye likes yer ale son, which makes ye ok 'n my books at least. If yer gittin another', I'll be happy tae join ye." giving a significant glance into his half-empty mug.

Ringtail, I haven't done any modifications yet to Bogorin's sheet, thinking I'd wait until you decide and then just change it real quick. But if it will help your decision process, it's no problem, I can just do it now.

Background is more important to me for the selection process than mechanics are.

Ok, perfect. But I still don't know much of anything about the story line yet so it's a bit hard to tailor Bogorin's background to explain what he's been up to and why he's there.

That is all right. The campaign has a built in method for getting everyone where they need to go at the start. It is a bit cliche, but it works.

Liberty's Edge

Aerodus laughs softly and calls over a barmaid, before ordering a round of drinks for everyone at the table. 'By the Lady of the Grave this Dwarf is a hoot!'

When the drinks are passed around the table and everyones mug is full once again, Aerodus takes a sip, before speaking. "Stink of Evil? By the gods no... I do not think Pharasma would take too kindly to one of her servants being evil!" Grinning, he shakes his head softly. "No. All of that Devil Worship, of my nation, never appealed to me. I was chosen for bigger things, better things. I spend my days hunting down what evil I can find, this is what brought me here, yes?" Nodding softly, the Chelaxian pats the silver holy symbol, hanging from a chain, around his neck

"I didn't see in the light, but you are correct, master Dwarf. As an apology, drinks all around! And you, sir Bogorin, I shall give two."

I should probably look at profiles before I start randomly talking to people.

"I hope you don't mind if I stick to drinks that won't destroy my liver immediately. I find it rather useful on occasion." Beestinger pulls out his waterskin that contains water with some herbal flavoring and drinks to the health of those around him.

I had skimmed over the other players' post too quick last night I guess. Missed Ridley. I can switch Tess over to a rogue easily enough if we both get in, otherwise I'll leave her as is for now.

"Ha! Now that be what I be callin' a gentleman!" roars the old dwarf happily as another round is ordered. To punctuate his pleasure he slaps the Chelaxian hard on the shoulder. Fortunately Aerodus is strong enough to avoid going flying from the blow.

"An' well said lad! 'Ere's tae strikin' a blow 'gainst Evil!" as he hoists his mug yet again. By now, his slight sway is evident to everyone, yet he still seems to be in control of himself. He doesn't seem to be slurring too much, but with that dwarven accent, who can tell.

Ok, had some extra time so went ahead and re-did the old guy. If there's any mistakes please let me know. Still may pick up a few things with the extra loot and am saving the game trait until I know what the game is about, if that's alright?

Stat block is up.

Seltyn raises his glass. Aye, to striking a blow!

He's not being patronizing, though it may be hard to tell. He likes the dwarf's ebullience, and the general cheer everyone's feeling.

Changed a few things, now that I've looked at it again. Nothing major, just switched a feat and some stats.

"Rockstomper you say? I'm think' I have heard a few tales." She switches to dwarven here..."Something about a pair of kegs to himself, and a belch that powdered stone afterward."

Eyeing the elf that recently came in, Ridley takes in the details. "I'm thinkin' I know a fellow digger when I see one. Well met Tess."

Going out of town over the weekend. Pretty sure I'll be hitting motels though, so I should be able to get the background up at some point soon. Having access to the books, would it be kosher to integrate some of my background into the beginning story, or best to leave the books closed and just go with what's been mentioned here?"

"To striking a blow" She says, uncharacteristically somber.

Grinning the widest grin he's had yet Bogorin nearly shouts "Why o' course ye 'ave girl! I used tae be rite famus I did! Always liked ye small folk I 'ave n' I'll be 'avin strong words wit 'ny who 'as ill tae say o' ye o' yer kin!" the contradiction to his earlier statements apparently completely lost on him.

He raises his arm to give Ridley a hardy slap on the shoulder but at the last second seems to realize it may not be a good idea, and ends up looking down at his hand. This causes him to see the flask in it "Oh, er, I think this be yers girl. Much appreciated' it were!" as he hands the nearly empty flash back.

Alright Ringtail I thought I would explain what I plan on doing with Bone Breaker since I am not really going to rp in the thread so you have some idea about him.

Ringtail:

First things first Nuig is based on a character from an anime I saw recently called Guin Saga. The main character is a leopard man that is trying to protect two twins. Now he is very tough person that can hit very hard. So first thing that came to mind is barbarian since he also seems to go into a rage when fighting. He is also a very strong willed person that seems to ignore or block mind effects why the dual minded from being half-elf I also plan on taking iron will and if possible two levels of the unbreakable fighter archetype. This is for two reasons first the bonus to will save and second so I can get endurance and die hard. This goes along with the theme since he is tough as nails. So basic idea of the character will be the classic tough as nails melee bruiser. In heavy armor that shouts his defiant at the enemy while keep moving forward. Also any suggestions on the theme would be great help. First try for a character like this that is more about defense than just attacking.

It would be welcome. Like I said, I plan to change a few things geographically to make the setting/events fit, so as long as the background is flexible enough to change with some minor alterations it should be fine. I also plan to have a basic player's guide written up for the group(s) before I start running to give a bit more information about the area and important locations.

Also, tomorrow I run my every other Saturday, in person game, as the players in who are in my RotRL game have probably picked up on by now. That means while I try to keep up and post frequently it is likely that 2 Saturdays a month my posting will be sparse, including tomorrow, so don't fret if I'm not seen in this thread until Sunday morning.

Seems like a pretty neat idea. Being a campaign that will take place 2/3 or more on long forays into the underdark...ahem...darklands, having endurance and longevity will be a boon.

My IRL game day is tomorrow as well.

Better late than never, submitting Thorn.

He's a character from an old 2nd edition Night Below Campaign that never quite took off. Added some Golarion flavor.

BTW - I know you probably don't want templates but at least I tried to balance it with a Madness. If I were chosen we could play it any way you want. ;)

History:
In 4703 they came to finish what they had already started in Wolf’s Ear. Inquisitors of the White Elk and Bush Knights of the Churlhorn, all faithful followers of Erastil, intent on purging the region of any remaining werewolves that may have been overlooked in the recent annex. The order was decreed, by the Lord Mayor of Magnimar in 4701, to find and execute with extreme prejudice, any and all lycanthropes, in the name of all that is just and good, and for the safety and piece of mind of all civilized folk in the region .

The horsemen rode in the dead of night. On the backs of well trained steeds, capable of tracking wolves by scent, they brandished torches and weapons of silver and sported crowns of fresh wolfsbane upon their brow. Divinations had proved fruitful and they had cornered a small pack of suspected werewolf refugees, rumored to have escaped the recent democide, and gone in to hiding somewhere deep in the Churlwood.

In a foggy creek bed, with their backs to the Lampblack River, the pursued refugees made their last stand. Vehemently denying their lycanthrope heritage, the Ulfen shapechangers never took their animal or hybrid forms, but instead called upon foul Thassilonian sin magic. Invoking the ideal of Wrath, the spellcasters flung dangerous spells composed of force and fire, spewing the curses of the forgotten runelord Alaznist upon their murderous hunters.

While many died on both sides, it was the pious clergy of Old Deadeye that emerged victorious, a precious few of their numbers surviving the destructive encounter. In the wake of the battle, all that remained were the butchered and smoking corpses of the dead, and a single Ulfen boy.

No one can say why the surviving hunters took mercy on the blighted young orphan. Perhaps it was the fact that his parents, while obviously powermad evokers, never took their bestial forms in the battle and denied their cursed nature with their dying breaths.

Not more than ten summers old, the young boy showed no physical signs of his parents suspected affliction. Rather than destroy the innocent offspring of the alleged lycanthropes, it was decided the boy would be raised in the service of Erastil until he was of an age to make decisions for himself. While the boy could only speak Ulfen, he proudly proclaimed himself “Thorn Son of Angrahd”.

For the next three summers, Thorn was reluctantly inducted in to the strict hierarchy of the Erastil faith. While not forced to worship the nature god, Thorn was expected to do his share of chores, which consisted of heavy farm labor and tending to livestock.

During his time with the faith of Erastil, Thorn grew to be a terrible child. One that almost always shirked his duties, and constantly defied authority. The church elders suspected it was the inherent flaw of his parentage, corrupting his pubescence and subsequently began watching the troublemaking youth more closely.

On the third anniversary of his parents death, Thorn lashed out at his divine peers. Under a full moon, in a heated confrontation with several acolytes, the raging boy transformed in to a full fledged werewolf and in a display of madness, injured many before being captured and restrained in silver manacles by senior clergy.

In the weeks that followed, Thorn remained shackled to a bed and force fed wolfsbane as an experiment to see if they could cure his malady rather than execute him. Unfortunately, while the wolfsbane did nothing to diminish Thorn’s natural lycanthropy, it did slowly poison him, sending him into a deep coma. While in his coma, Thorn experienced vivid dreams of glowing arcane runes and whispers of the untold power of wrath. The mysteries of magic began to unravel in his subconscious.

Somehow after being slowly weaned from the wolsbane, Thorn fought back from the brink of near death. Tended by druidic nuns, they hung a silver amulet of the Elk Lord about his sleeping neck, in hopes of warding off the evil wolf taint. His coma lasted nearly six months, and on a fateful day in Pharast he awoke with absolutely no memory of his past life, except for his name, and an insatiable appetite for the learning of magic, particularly Evocation. He dismissed his prior disease as fleeting evil spirits, and insists that he’s been cured.

Thorn suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder, and currently has two personalities; Benevolent Thorn and Hateful Thorn.

Benevolent Thorn is Lawful/Good and worships Erastil faithfully. He has a hunger for knowledge especially when it comes to magic, and is generally good natured. From time to time Benevolent Thorn blacks out and when he wakes he can’t remember what he’s been doing. Benevolent Thorn doesn't know about hateful Thorn.

Hateful Thorn is Chaotic/Evil and Thorn’s original personality. He worships death and blood, and not necessarily in that order. Although Hateful Thorn is a werewolf and is aware of his nature, he knows he is in the company of do gooders, and also realizes that he is not in complete control of himself and as such, rarely takes his animal/hybrid forms. He has discovered a weird knack for spellcasting and for some reason, he finds himself inexorably tied to the malign silver amulet of Erastil hanging about his neck.

In the five years since his awakening, Benevolent Thorn has started an apprenticeship with the Evoker Tauster. He is fiercely loyal to the wizard, but sometimes doesn’t understand why he’s being disciplined for unruly acts he doesn’t remember committing. Hateful Thorn wants to steal Tauster’s secrets, and hopefully unlock the power of ancient Thassilonian Sin-Magic.

Its not too late, there is still plenty of time. I am a little bit nervous of setting the precedent to allow templated PCs, and I don't think that for your particular character Lycanthropy adds too much power, but I feel that if I make the exception here it might be asked of me for a more melee oriented character in the future. That said, I do really enjoy your characters story so he is up for consideration with the others, but I might make some alterations to the template to make it a bit more in line with what is expected of PF characters.

Just updating my list of people up for consideration. If I've missed you, please let me know. I'll have decided who's in by tomorrow. If you don't make it in on the first call, please hang around in case anyone disapears right at the start of the game and needs to be replaced.

Niug "Bone Breaker" - Half Elven Armored Hulk Barbarian
Beestinger - Halfling Weapon Adept of the Empty Fist Monk
Ridley Blix - Halfling Archaeologist Bard
Iriesys Gadomain - Elven Bladebound Kensai Magus
Aerodus Aluain - Human Oathbound Paladin Against Undeath
Izbahn Douvurk - Human Universalist
Naomi Fairchild - Human WoP Cleric of Calistra, Erastil, and Desna
Seltyn Sevenleaf - Elven Admixture Evoker Evoker
Borgorin Rockstomper - Dwarven Cleric (perhaps with a level of Fighter)
Dreadan Darlok - Half Orc Figher
Thorn, Son of Angrahd - Werewolf Evoker
Tessarayth - Elven Archaeologist Bard

I think that was it for submitted characters so far on a quick skim.

A ton of good ones too; you people aren't making the selection process easy.

"To strike a blow." Naomi says hesitantly, aware of what some people might think of her family. She raises her drink and then drains it.

Convienently I have twelve characters submitted as of now which is exactly enough to make two well rounded groups. So despite being a day early, things have slowed down enough in here that I'm going go ahead and make my selections. I tried to split everyone into groups that would have the least overlap in abilities and that would compliment one another well while having a wide range of skills. Any that haven't submitted a character, but are still interested, feel free to do so. With 12 people there is a chance that someone will disappear early on and will need to be replaced. We will still begin tomorrow evening.

Group A(boleth) in alphabetical order:
+Aerodus Aluain - Human Oathbound Paladin Against Undeath
+Izbahn Douvurk - Human Universalist Your character sheet needs updating, of course, along with adding your free campaign trait.
+Naomi Fairchild - Human WoP Cleric of Calistra, Erastil, and Desna
+Niug "Bone Breaker" - Half Elven Armored Hulk Barbarian Go ahead and make him an alias.
+Tessarayth - Elven Archaeologist Bard
+Thorn, Son of Angrahd - Werewolf Evoker

Group B(ehir) in alphabetical order:
+Beestinger - Halfling Weapon Adept of the Empty Fist Monk
+Borgorin Rockstomper - Dwarven Cleric of Cayden Cailean
+Dreadan Darlok - Half Orc Figher
+Iriesys Gadomain - Elven Bladebound Kensai Magus Which free campaign trait were you going with?
+Ridley Blix - Halfling Archaeologist Bard I think there's just a bit still missing from your character sheet.
+Seltyn Sevenleaf - Elven Admixture Evoker

EDIT: Heh, I just realized Group Behir is human free.

I'm going to have a brief guide for players done this evening, but if nothing else it will up and ready tomorrow, along with links to the respective OOC and IC threads for each group in the afternoon/evening. Thank you all for applying. And feel free to continue chatting and asking questions here until everything else is ready.

Group Aboleth hey? I am liking the line up! :D

Aerodus Aluain wrote:

I tried to have a nice mix of warriors to spellcasters to experts in each group. And with a Paladin, a Barbarian, an Evoker, and a Cleric in group, and a Monk, a Cleric, a Fighter, an Evoker, and a Magus in the other enemies will sure be feeling the pain.

Very sorry. I Factored in the History Buff trait, but forgot to put it in the stat block.

Thanks, Ringtail! And yay, everybody! :)

Liberty's Edge

You managed a nice balance Ringtail. Well done bro!

Here is Bone Breaker. Note for group he will not rage much. When he does rage do not stand near him.

Iriesys Gladomain wrote:

No problem. Just wanted to make sure you didn't short yourself. :)

Aerodu Aluain wrote:

Thanks. You should have seen my roommate and I huddled over my notebook for an hour or so, scratching out notes on who would go best where. I think I took it too seriously.

@ Niug: Loving the profile picture.

"Another round for everyone. This time, some stronger stuff please. I could barely feel that on its way down." After a moment of slight wobbling, Iriesys continues. "If you don't mind, I'l be back in just a bit." She then proceeds to the bathroom, but is not in there very long. After she returns, she seems significantly more stable.

DM:
Prior to leaving the tavern, where we split into our own separate dimensions, I'd like to visit the bathroom for probably about 30 seconds. During that time, I will cast prestidigitation. I will then proceed to play around with the smells and flavors of the drinks that are being served. Also, a pat on the butt every once in a while on anyone attractive is in order, via prestidigitation. Iriesys is very flirtatious, and getting quite tipsy. As the night goes on, the flirting's going to get worse, with both sexes, I'm sure. :P

Thanks Ringtail. Had this profile picture in mind since I started to make the character.

Liberty's Edge

Haha! Taking it serious is great man. Heh! Our IRL group gets about two hours of productive gaming then 3 of Rp. Everyone takes their character and their interactions seriously. Tis great. Looking forward to this now.

Looking around the group, Aerodus grins. "Well... I suppose we need one night of settling in, before we get serious!" Taking his glass, he raises it. "Here is to new friends and the journey ahead. May Pharasma bless you all!"

No rush to go there, I'm just getting these set up:

Aboleth's OOC Thread

Behir's OOC Thread

@ everyone: In the OOC threads is a copy of my email should you ever need to get ahold of me.

Izbahn watches Naomi carefully, knowing how drink affects her. He cannot help but reflect on the strange path his life has taken so far, and also what lies ahead. Still, with Naomi guiding him along he knows there will be no obstacles they cannot overcome....together.

Hey this is great! Congrats all! All of the PCs in here are good ones and I'm happy they'll all get to play. You really did do a great job Ringtail. I'm stoked you even managed to group almost all of Bogorin's drinking buddies together (or was that just luck ; ) Am really looking forward to what promises to be a great game. Have fun all!

In a rare state of generosity, one which displays his extreme state of intoxication and good humour told boy roars to the serving girl after Iriesys' offer "Aye! Thash be tha shpirit girl! N' one more roun' on ole' Bogorin while yer at lassh!" while he slams a handful of coins down on the table.

"I've had enough, I think, of liquid headaches." Naomi waves away a drink as she leans against Izbahn. "Last time I had too much to drink I ended up taking someone's bed from them."

Izbahn holds Naomi close to him, amazed at how her body warmth seemed to warm him no matter how cold it was outside.

"Heh, I remember that. Fortunately I was able to get our bed back."

Naomi looks up at Izbahn and smiles gently.

"At least I fixed your neck later. You really shouldn't sleep on the floor without having some kind of pillow."

She puts up the collection of maps and documents she has spread before her, and ask for a glass of wine next time one of the serving wenches goes by.

After her drink arrives, she stands up and joins the group of people carousing in the tavern.

I enjoyed RPing in here. Any of you guys who made it before, who might see this wanna just RP in here just because?
