Guiness rushes on in, however the closer he gets to the rune-marked giant guard, the further away the giant starts to seem. The dimensions of the room appear to twist and turn, simultaneously closing in and expanding outward, lurching this way and that. By the time he gets in close, he's too disoriented to do much else than keep his footing. Those of you outside the room see that not only does Guiness seems to be moving all over the room, but that he's shrinking too! By the time he gets up to the giant, the dwarf is half his normal size. (The room's dimensional warp leaves Guiness nauseated for 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds, and he's reduced to small size, as if by reduce person, including all the normal effects of that size reduction)

Ziva follows after Guiness, only to be caught by the same twisting dimensions. She manages to resist the shrinking effect, but is still left hopelessly disoriented (Nauseated for 1d4 ⇒ 2 rounds). The giant takes a solid swing at her as she moves in, clearly suffering none of the same effects. Luckily the greataxe bounds off her armor.

Astrid's cure spell goes through without issue despite whatever is going on inside the room. Colvyn finds his arrow flies in a weirdly erratic path after he looses it, but his aim is so good it lands regardless!

The giant steps closer to the open passageway, then twists into a sudden and inexplicable burst of speed, slashing thrice at Ziva. She manages to deflect one blow, but the other two carve into her! (Dealing 30 and 30 slashing dmg)

Kellek recognizes the giant as a hill giant, though this particular individual seems to be scarred with Thassilonian runes. Kellek recognizes that this is the result of a particularly ancient ritual invented by the rulers of Thassilon to create runeslaves, obedient servants empowered by magical runes but cursed to a relatively short life of constant pain and mental degradation. This particular giant seems to have been a runeslave for only a short time, considering its generally coherent speech and behavior. The room itself appears to be some kind of powerful magical distortion based on its results. Dispel magic might be able to suppress its effects for a time, though the nausea Guiness and Ziva are experiencing will linger either way.

Astrid's spell ensnares the giant's mind successfully!

With Ziva and Guiness still recovering, Colvyn sends a flurry of arrows into the giant, including one that pierces its heart. The giant staggers forward, clutching it's chest, before collapses with a sigh of release. Kellek sends a dispelling burst at Guiness to attempt to reverse his shrinking, but once more the dispel isn't able to find purchase against the powerful and ancient magic.

Nevertheless, without the giant to contend with, Guiness is able to wait out his nausea and return to his full faculties. Unfortunately, his small size remains and shows no sign of ending soon.

After inspecting the area with detect magic, Kellek's impression is that the room is suffering from decaying ancient magic that once may have been intended to make the chamber look larger and more impressive than it was. The shrinking effect that Guiness is suffering is another effect of that magic. While the room itself would be very difficult to return to its "normal" state, it should be possible to bring Guiness back up to full size with a strong enough dispel or an enlarge person to reverse it. Otherwise, the effect is likely to persist for at least a day after leaving the room.

Ziva listens at the door to the south and, though it's muffled, hears the crackling of flames.

Given that the room's twisted dimensions seem to be persisting even after the giant guard's demise, it seems likely that the room's magical warp is not going anywhere soon. You might be able to evade getting nauseated by keeping your eyes closed, but the shrinking effect probably isn't as easy to dodge. (You'll have to make your saves or find some other way to get across to the next room)

Kellek chuckles at the diminutive dwarf's higher-pitched voice. "Adorable."

"Here" Kellek hands the dwarf dwarf a small potion vial that looks big in his little stubby-fingered hand. "It should enlarge you to normal size though you might want to wait until it is needed as it might only suppress the shrinking effect for a minute or so."

It's a potion of enlarge person.

As for the perception distorting chamber "It might be possible to teleport across the space though if the area distorts space that might not be the healthiest thing to do. Either way it would take time. I would have to rest and then memorize the spell if we all wanted to try to get across in one go."

OK, onwards and inwards it is! Keep in mind that as of this post, Colvyn and Kellek haven't yet braved the twisty-dimensions room. If you do, give me your Fort save vs. shrinking.

Ziva opens the southern doors to reveal a long hallway, it's walls carved with bands of ancient Thassilonian runes. The hall eventually opens to a tall-ceilinged chamber that is unnervingly lit by a brilliant crimson glow from the slowing burning flames of a firepit in the center of the room. An immense iron cauldron, large even for a giant and emblazoned with an etching of a seven pointed star, stands above these flames. Smoke rises from the cauldron's unseen bubbling contents, and a halo of human bones and scraps of desiccated flesh lie scattered around the cauldron's three-pronged base. Though not all visible from the hallway, enormous, 20-foot tall statues of giants line the walls of this room. Each one's head has been formed to look like a bare skull, while the remaining body is muscular but excessively lean.

Looking at the corridor, Colvyn feel a bit unease. "This smell like a trapped corridor. Let me inspect it before going forward."

Colvyn will cross the room and entered the corridor where he will loom for traps.
