The fountain did specific things based on alignments...
The party knows there is nothing to come from behind because it is clear. They could hypothetically rest/sleep in the fourth platform once they reach the top of it. They could also climb back up the rope course and rest/sleep in the fountain room.
Scarlet Blood |
"I'm not oppose to a little rest, but I'd like to continue on. Exploring this crypt is fun and profitable."
Scarlet Blood |
An idea popped in his head, "Also while we are resting, maybe take a look at the magical items we got again to identify. Lets see, that cloth armor has more enchantments to identify. There is that studded leather armor we got off the Varag above, the three red shaft arrows, and four potions/vials."
"Also, someone should use that darkwood bow we just got."
Take 20 on Spellcraft should be able to identify magical item while resting.
GM RelicBlackOUT |
Take 20 on Spellcraft should be able to identify magical item while resting.
Anything that has a negative impact for failing you cannot take 20 on. Because it is like rolling a 1, then a 2, then a 3, etc... so you cannot take 20. But, you can use a scroll!
Dalron Northfield |
"I agree with Brunner, if we are going to make camp let us be safe about it."
Once at the camp site, Dalron pulls out his shortbow and arrows that he recovered from the Varag in the water guardian room.
"If we are going over items, might as well check these for magic as well."
Dalron restocks his arrows in his two quivers.
Scarlet Blood |
"I have no desire to rest while partly submerged in water, so I vote we go back to the dragon fountain and rest near there."
Scarlet Blood |
Scarlet makes sure to carefully climb back up.
Take 10 on all of them.: 10 + 5 = 15
GM RelicBlackOUT |
Assuming that people don’t have armor on and they are 10 on the climb up
Everyone makes it safely back to the dragon fountain and the night goes by without any interruptions. Everyone gains 4 HP back unless anyone does a heal check to aid another then they gain 8 HP. Everyone gains their spells and daily abilities back as per a full nights rest.
Before leaving this area,is there anything specific people would like to do?
Barnabus Black |
Barnabus unrolls a scroll of Identify and tries to learn more about the armor we just recovered.
spellcraft(quilted armor): 1d20 + 8 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 10 = 23
Then he studies the different unidentified potions we have recovered.
spellcraft(vials from Varag room): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
spellcraft(vial from river statue): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
spellcraft(potion from hobgoblin necromancer): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
GM RelicBlackOUT |
Barnabus takes a look over a few of the items they have received.
Upon a second look at the Quilted Cloth, you find a faint illusion magic. You discover that this armor not only is enhanced, but also has shadow magic imbued into it. This armor is +1 Shadow Quilted Cloth. Stats after the magical effects: +2 AC +8 Max Dex 0 Armor check 10% Arcane Spell failure 15 lbs. +5 Stealth Checks.
Part of me feels like you might have already gotten these potions, but just incase.
1 potion of Cure Moderate Wounds
2 potions of Cure Light Wounds.

Spell craft(Three red shaft arrows): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Spell craft (Darkwood bow): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
"I am not sure on some of these, could you take a look Barnabus?"
Scarlet Blood |
Darkwood bow was already identified as +1 Bow.
GM RelicBlackOUT |
Dalron takes a look over the arrows and discovers that even though the design might look different, they are indeed the same arrows. They are all +1 Flaming Arrows.
The armor is +1 Studded Leather Armor
The shortbow is just a high quality bow of MW quality.
Dalron begins to study the bow; feeling the balance, the almost perfect draw, how unusually light it bow is compared to how durability of it. There is nothing more that you can tell about the bow, but you have a gut feeling that a bow like this must have a story behind it. And how did a Varag end up with such a bow?
Dalron Northfield |
"I would like to hold on to this Dark wood bow, unless someone else wants it. Lanliss, you should the flaming arrows. I already had fun with mine. Scarlet if you could store this shortbow to be sold later, please. And I could use the +1 Studded Leather Armor, again I will only take it if no one else wants it. The Potions should be handed out as well. Since, I still have a feeling that we are going to bump in to that whatever thing that killed the Death Tyrant."
Dalron started his sleep with nightmares of strange creatures that go around killing Death Tyrants. Until his mind switched gears to the warm and fuzzy dreams of open fields with goblins running around like rabbits and Dalron never missing with his bow shots, some shots are almost impossible, like dropping three goblins with the same arrow . Dalron finally sleeps with a smile on his face.
Scarlet Blood |
Scarlet puts the masterwork short bow into the bag of holding while drawing out the darkwood bow and magical studded leather for Dalron. He then draws out the flaming arrows for Lanliss.
GM RelicBlackOUT |
Everyone enjoys a full nights rest, wakes up refreshed and ready to go. Whoever was taking middle watch heard some tossing from Dalron followed by some chuckling as he is transitioning between dreams.
If there is anything you want to do before you leave the fountain room you will still be able to do so, just make note of it in your post.
Everyone gets their great together and begin to set off back through the cavern room and the platform, making their way to the last platform you all discover a small opening that is 5-feet wide and 3-feet tall. Everyone has to crawl through just to make it through.
Once you make it to the end of the downward tunnel you crawl out into a large room with irregular stone walls, a rough floor, and a high, uneven ceiling. You see no sign of the carefully carved features present in the other sections of this complex, instead crude carvings and patterns of what might be writing decorate the rough walls.
This room goes down in a 10-foot wide tunnel that you can stand upright as you make your way. The tunnel is patch black other than the light source you have on you. As everyone begins to make their way through the first tunnel you begin to feel rumbling as the ground begins to shake. The party looks back only to stumble to the ground as the floor feels as if it is moving and the entry way to the room with the light suddenly vanishes.
As the floor stops shaking you see that the way behind is closed off, and the way ahead reveals what almost seems as what wasn’t there before. Suddenly you remember that the Orc previously mentioned something about a “ labyrinth head...” The way ahead now reveals a room with three open doors leading from it. What does the party do?
X: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
X: 1d100 ⇒ 8
GM RelicBlackOUT |
Because of Christmas and New Years, I am not expecting people to be overly active this week. I wanted everyone to know that as we move through this labyrinth I will be waiting for everyone to be ready. There is a lot that is involved with this section and just want to be sure everyone is ready.
Scarlet Blood |
Scarlet pulls out some of the paper, a quill, and a vial of ink from the bag of holding. "Right. A map."
He starts drawing the map of the place.
Scarlet Blood |
Adjusted the map to represent a door on each wall, also added a compass to show North. Might not be real north, but Scarlet is just putting North up to make it easier. Put link to map in my profile subheader to make it easier to view.
"Going left to start seems fine to me." Scarlet heads toward the left (east) door and opens it if not locked.
Lanliss Endarro |
" Lanliss, you should the flaming arrows."
Lanliss accepts the three arrows with thanks.
It sounds like these are the three red-shafted arrows that we just found. But did we also find some magic arrows from the Varag fight that we haven't identified, yet?
Lanliss is flummoxed at the purpose of a labyrinth in a tomb, and isn't up for offering much in the way of advice for how to get through it.
Dalron Northfield |
Checking the door ways, Dalron looks for clues to the correct path.
Tracking (Survival 1/2 speed): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
"It hard to tell with this stone floor, may this might be something...."
"Does anyone have some chalk or something to mark where we came from? I have a bar of soap that we could use in a pinch."
GM RelicBlackOUT |
Dalron begins to examine the floor looking for tracks. Looking around he does find some scuffs on the floor that leads to the left/west door. Once he sees where the tracks go Dalron also takes a look at the other doors. Looking through the doors you see they lead to a dark hallway that is slightly blurred, as you get closer to it and even take a single step into it, the hallways darkness and blurriness slightly fades.
@Lanliss those arrows were also the +1 Flaming Arrows. They only looked differently because they were from different makes and eras.

GM RelicBlackOUT |
Barnabus cast Light on his battle-axe and it lights up the room. When he tries to use it to light up the short passage way from the doorways the darkness and blurriness almost seems to diminish the light emitting from the battle-axe. Almost fighting against it. Once Barnabus pulls the axe back into the chamber the party is in, the strength of the light returns back to normal.
Scarlet Blood |
"That is a weird reaction the light is doing. Any idea what might be causing it?"
GM RelicBlackOUT |
Barnabus isn’t sure what would have this effect on the Light spell he had cast. Detecting Magic? Barnabus (Using his Spellcraft check) sees that this entire room that they are in is magical. Studying the magic for a moment he detects that is comes from the Abjuration and Conjuration spell schools. Unfortunately you are not able to tell what it is.
Dalron ties his torch to his rope, twirls it around, and launches it into the passageway. You allow it to fly in as far as it can go and you can tell that is has settled. There are a few odd things about what you see and hear. First, the light from the torch reacts in the same way as it did with the Light spell from Barnabus’ battle-axe. The torch reaches a certain spot where it vanishes into the darkness. The second odd thing is that even though you can see that the torch has settled down and stopped moving you actually did not hear anything. No sound of the torch hitting a wall or the floor as it settled.
As Dalron begins to pull back his rope to retrieve torch, you see that there is just a nub end of the rope coming back. No torch. Examining the rope you notice that roughly 15-feet of the rope has gone missing.
Dalron Northfield |
"So what your saying is that for me to get my torch back I need to go in to a magical portal with no idea how it works and don't even know if we can get back once I am on the other side. Ok I am in."
