They are in areas that are currently template climates. Best I can tell they were immediately south of the ice sheet during the Pliocene era. I'm good with just treating them like any other animal I will get them some cold weather gear too.
I can't find anything (in a very brief google search) that suggests they existed in extremely cold climates.
However, Therm specifically grew up in Irrisen and is of a breed specific to the land of eternal winter, yes? It just doesn't make sense that your companion would be acclimated to a temperate climate.
My proposal: Therm treats cold as 1 degree less severe, and heat 1 degree more severe. Unless there's an official archetype, rule, or whatever - I'd prefer that to me just making stuff up.

Okay this works. Honestly, I don't think there's any hot weather in this AP. Maybe book 6, but then I don't think so.
Therm has saddlebags and is a quadruped and Goliath is still in medium encumbrance if you are worried about hauling.
There is one cloak unclaimed in the loot tracker.

Unless there's something you feel like you really need to have from Ruso, I think he keeps all his stuff. The only exceptions are the cloak of the yeti and the spyglass, which you can distribute as you see fit.
