René grimaces. It was sound logic -- trying to disrupt any spellcasting -- if a bit suicidal. "But what if that's 'xactly what they want? All that slashing 'n pits 'n traps 'n all weren't the most subtle. They could be workin' on fireballin' the first fella who goes'n sticks his or her head in. At the very least, we shouldn't go cluster ourselves 'round the door iff'n we want ta go chargin' in." Mentally cursing the rather small, confined hallway they found themselves in, the man felt himself overcome with paralyzing decision anxiety. Or at least, decision anxiety in the sense that he suspected running away and making someone else deal with the problem wouldn't exactly cut it here.
I'm fine with charging in. Just wanted to point out that that could be a trap. Or they could just be buffing themself/themselves meaning running in is better.

Decisions, decisions... Anyone want to state an action?
Tylur Thorn |
"Right René. Cordwin you open the door I will go in first. Skarn to follow. René and Aurora move off to the side away from the door just in case. Aurora your touch seems to put me in a more focused state almost as if something were guiding my actions ever slightly. Are you able to do that before we open the door?"
Aurora Warin |
Nodding to Tylur, "Yep. Umm, I could bring a little help if there is a fight."
René Treize |
Safe-ish out of direct line of sight, René silently waits for the storming of the door, mentally bracing himself for the worse.

Wide stone ledges of red marble line the curving walls of this room, which is well lit by four burning skulls that sit in each corner. Three chairs rest in the room, and both stone ledges are covered with old books, scrolls, teeth, bones, scrimshaw artwork, jars of deformed creatures soaking in brine, taxidermied animals and limbs, and other strange objects. To the north, a large round fountain filled with frothy blue water fills the room with the gentle sound of bubbling.
As you suspected, Nualia is here, along with another yeth hound. She is clearly expecting you, bastard sword out and ready to fight. Her midriff is bare, showing the ugly scars and wounds across her belly. With the exception of her left hand, which has been transformed into a red demonic talon and her scarred belly, the rest of her body is incongruously beautiful.
Her face is an impassive mask save tor her eyes, which blaze with anger.

Touching Tylur's neck, where she can feel skin, after she agrees. Tracing a shield on his skin and mumbling, "The dawn brings a new light so Dawnflower keep your word and keep him safe."
A shimmering magical shield appears floating in-front of Tylur. Keeping her hand on him until the door opens and mumbling, "And let his chain strike true."
Nearly dropping her dagger and freezing in place for a moment as horror twists her belly. "She will birth Lamashtu's monsters into the world. She cannot live!" Goblin's are one thing. Civilized people are raised thinking they are monsters. But Nualia is like her, raised in civilized society. Only monsters prey on people... But the goblin's probably thought that too.
I wanted that before the door opened so I could start summoning but if I have to wait a round that's fine.

Shuddering at the blood-curdling howl, René nevertheless manages to steel himself and steps into view of the room. Despite not panicking, his legs shake slightly, threatening to give out on him. He continues to mutter prayers to himself, though it doesn't comfort him as much as Hadley gently snuffing at his arm from his safe spot inside his companion's bag.
Sounds like we're in normal light rather than bright light, so I'm going to cast shadowmind. Both Nualia and her dog need to make a DC 16 Will save. If they fail, an illusion causes them to see everything one level darker than it is, meaning it should be dim light and they both have a 20% miss chance on all attacks. If I'm mistaken about the light level, René instead evil eye's Nualia's to hit (DC 15 Will save) and then nervously laughs.

So, I have never interpreted Life Link as functioning like DR. It is more like Fast Healing 5 at the beginning of your turn each round. It’s also advisable to have links set on whomever when we’re out of combat, so you don’t end up taking a load of standard actions in combat to set the links.
Aurora Warin |
Normally I will but there isn't much I can do at the moment and I kinda forgot about that until now.

The yeth hound needs to roll for miss chance on its bite attack (I think it also had a -2 on that to hit, but it wouldn't have mattered).
René blinks in surprise as Tylur begins to magically heal out of nowhere. He's about to congratulate Aurora (after all, who else could possibly be responsible?), when he sees a nasty wound appear on her. His jaw drops. "Ye daft girl? What in blazes are ya doin'? You'll kill yerself! Tylur, stop playin' fetch with the doggie. Put it down like he's old'n yella and help Skarn take down demon-claw!"
He wrings his hands in anxiety. The girl was hurting herself to help two people she barely knew! Healing folk was one thing, but this was just too much! What if something went wrong with whatever spell she had used and she died because of it? She could die for some stupid mission they should have left the locals to, trying to save two strangers, who were also risking their lives for someone else's benefit. "Oh gods, yer all mad. Hahahaaa." His laugh as a decidedly unhinged edge to it even as he says a prayer for Skarn.
