Kwiazy wracks his brain trying to figure out if these items are from the right time period and if there are any other possible anomalies that might show them up as red herrings or misleading. It all seems damning evidence, but a little nagging thought is troubling him - why would they leave so much evidence behind?

Not being much of a historian but having the barest awareness of no scale politics, the smoldragon attempts to figure out something about all these items. The amount of money is *odd*, to say the least -- no self-respecting mercenary would carry THAT much cash on them, after all -- those coins add up after a while.

Much better to keep it in gems!

"If they were human, they would have had a hard time carrying just the weight of their own coin barring special carrying bags. Not that they don't exist, it's just not... something isn't right there."

Petrahk pauses.

"It's also possible to fool divination magic with things like lead-lined containers or such, too."

Ahmose doesn't have History or Nobility to figure out these Molthuni items may be a bit outdated...lol. Appraise, perhaps?

Ahmose begins examining the Molthuni weapons, armor, coins. The Blue-scale seems a bit perplexed about something.
Appraise (Int): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

There is something definitely fishy about this.

Ahmose takes out a Wand of Detect Magic from a hidden pocket inside his cloak.

He then begins studying any auras found....

Putting your heads together, you realize that although the gear do belong to the military of Molthune, they belong to a unit that was disbanded more than 7 years ago. Detect magic does not seem to turn up anything.

Petrahk is going to ask for a nice hot bath tonight and a modestly comfy bed -- doesn't have to be opulent but it's classier than pouring out several thousand gold coins to sleep on.

Other than that, she can't think of anything important off the top of her head, but getting a good night's rest is important when dealing with stubborn dwarves.

Kwiazy sticks around the dining hall, enjoying the drink, though he drinks slowly and steadily, rather than prodigiously, all while enjoying Ahmose's tales and watching him drink and enjoy himself.

He will let his mind wander a bit while relaxing, contemplating his past, where he came from: his humble beginnings in a goblin tribe to what amounted, looking back on it, being an curiosity and someone's pet 'project' in a human town, to fighting to protect what he'd learned were essentially the good folk of the world from an invasions by evil tribes of non-humans in the company of some of the finest folk he'd ever met.

He was, he decided after all the memories were looked at, the luckiest of goblins.

Once Ahmose began to wind down for the night and curled up under the table, most likely dreaming of hordes of gold and maybe a lady kobold or two, Kwiazy found his own bed and went to sleep.

The herald, smirking, announces you with a long string of the various possibilities you have mentioned strung together, sounding a bit ridiculous.

The members of the tribunal shock the herald by introducing themselves to you politely. Based on things you heard about them during your wait, they are the following:

Royal Archivist Karburtin Lightbrand: The royal archivist of Kraggodan, Karburtin is responsible for maintaining the vast troves of lore available in the Sky Citadel’s many libraries. He has a particular affinity for the history of surface-dwelling nations, which has clouded his judgment when dealing with those from outside the Sky Citadel. While Karburtin is initially distrustful of outsiders, his 3 days spent with the PCs makes him their most solid advocate on the Synod—though that doesn’t stop him from poking holes in their stories or correcting their grammar.

Prince Gorm Greathammer: The third child of Kraggodan’s king, Gorm is also a member of the Pathfinder Society. After his father’s sudden self-exile, Gorm compromised and took a seat on the Evenhanded Synod rather than take the mantle of king for himself. He craves the thrill of adventure and exploration more than anything, but he understands the duties that come with his lineage. Gorm enjoys tales of adventure and sees a bit of himself in the heroes, so long as they paint themselves as heroic and larger than life. Despite his enthusiasm, Gorm takes his responsibility with traditional dwarven pride and stubbornness, and despite his fascination and even displays of affection, he is skeptical and slow to persuade on most matters.

Exemplar Thramirra Greathammer: Thramirra is the highest-ranked member of the church of Trudd in Kraggodan. She’s the second child of Kraggodan’s king, though her position as exemplar of the church prevents her from taking on a leadership role beyond her position in the Evenhanded Synod. Even-tempered and analytical, Thramirra is a strategist, whose primary challenge is keeping the militaristic elements of her faith stable and focused during the siege. She was one of the few members of the Evenhanded Synod to not immediately demand Molthuni blood for the supposed intrusion into the vaults, much to the amazement of others. She is very invested in the security of the Sky Citadel, however, and reluctant to let outsiders investigate the crime on her behalf.

Lady Hikal Balatum: As the most junior member of the present members of the Evenhanded Synod, Hikal Balatum still commands immense power within the Sky Citadel. She maintains the various commerce and trade agreements between the clans of Kraggodan. She also presides over all major trade arrangements with external powers, such as Kraggodan’s exports to Druma, Nirmathas, and (formerly) Molthune. Thanks to the siege, she has grown bored and turned into something of a gossip to keep her mind sharp. These days, her interest is piqued only by scandal or talk of new trade opportunities. She is especially interested in proving Molthune innocent of trespass in the Reliquary of Ascension, as she’s eager to see the siege end and full trade return to Kraggodan.

The synod members invite you to introduce yourselves individually, and tell them your story.

please include a diplomacy or relevant knowledge/profession check to go along with any large chunks of your story you tell. You get the impression that telling details of your story as a group so far is expected here.

Kwiazy nodded at each telling, and recalled that they asked for each of the party to recount their own story, so he briefly told his. He spoke in almost perfect and unaccented dwarven, without the usual goblin 'colloquialisms', recounting how he was raised like any typical goblin when very young - taught to hate and fear longshanks among other things... But due to a curious nature, he shadowed and studied the longshanks for a while before being captured by hobgoblins. He learned quickly that not all non-humans were trustworthy or good and when he escaped from the hobgoblins by killing their leader during a raid on a human town, he ended up as an outsider in the human town, with no place else to go. Slowly, they learned to trust him, and he them. In time, he learned they weren't bad, and they learned the same of him. Their children taught him how to play, the adults taught him how to live, fight fair, speak common fluently, be productive and be an asset to a community.

"I think we all have our own stories, but the essence is that our different paths led us in time to each other. We are a family now, with a goal... The Ironfangs must be stopped and we intend to be a part of that."

He turned then to Gorm and tilted his head to one side and smiled with an almost engaging expression. "This 'Society' of yours... do you think they might accept me... us... as well? If not now, maybe someday?" sorry, couldn't resist that.

They were also determined to avoid the dark fate that their ancestors visited upon them, for they were due to be sacrificed to a dragon's appetite -- it was the deal that the noble's family had brokered with said dragon in generations past.

So they avoided that horrible path and became an adventurer, seeking out fame, greatness, and glory in the hinterlands of Varisia.

During their adventures they encountered an incredibly powerful mage that was subsequently defeated but not before turning half of their fellow adventurers to ash on the wind.

For someone that sneaky, nasty, and selfish, those fellow adventurers were Family. And the noble was well and truly put out, felt that they needed to bring THEIR Family back. So lacking wisdom and desperate to do this they called forth a most capricious and fickle djinn to lay forth a Wish upon.

Of course, that noble lacking wisdom made the incredibly unwise choice of trying to out-lawyer a djinn when a contractual Wish was on the line." Petrahk pauses, her previous tone being of some fictional noble in some far-away land... and then her tone notably shifts.

"So she wished that she could be a dragon -- not that anyone would be amiss making that kind of wish -- who doesn't want to be a mighty powerful dragon? And the djinn determined that while it was contractually obligated by the Wish, it wasn't stated WHAT kind of dragon she was going to be.

The noble was an unwise idiot grabbing for power, and so it went.

I started adventuring because I was looking for some place to call home, some place to call family. It turns out that even mighty powerful dragons need a place they can call that.

Unfortunately, a lot of kobold snarls -- that's the name for kobold homes -- they don't particularly care for a mighty dragon whose scales are metallic, and they don't have a conscience most of the time as they focus on survival first, anything else second.

Every time I thought I'd found a good spot, either I'd get an urge to move on or the snarls would try to imprison my draconic majesty.

I was on my way to Alabastrine -- that's in Druma, a very lucrative place for mercenary work, not that I was going to be a mercenary or anything -- and along the way got captured by the Ironfang. Anyone who tells you I was snoring loud enough to wake the dead is a LIAR!"

The small dragon pauses, coughs, and brushes herself off.

"Oh, right, so the team rescued me -- not that I needed it,of course -- while they were en route to free some prisoners which we did with incredible efficiency. During that mission we dealt with Ibzairiak, a black dragon also known as Scar-Maker for their penchant of dribbling acid on prisoners to torture them.

We also rescued a member of the Legion had a conscience named Harik, who joined our cause due to horrible the Legion had become.

We then managed to infiltrate the local Legion's army, using their preconceptions of how 'lesser' races should work, and managed to defeat their leader Kosseruk in an amazing display of martial and magical skill.

It was during that defeat that the broken parts of the army retreated through some sort of some unusual shiny black tower -- and further research led us through the Darklands to here."

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online)

The dwarven council listens carefully to your tales, asking a few questions as you go. Afterwards, they seem to look at each other and nod.

They tell you that you have permission to explore the Vault where the Onyx Key was stored, and may come and go between the city and the vault as needed. You are given a Sigil that will open the way to the Vault when needed. It also is proclaimed that you are friends of the city, so the smiths will create some things for you for just the cost of materials.

You are cordially invited to enjoy the hospitality of the city for a short while while any new gear you need is made for you.

Yvra hears a sharp rap at the door of his bedchamber, and opens it to see Archivist Karburtin Lightbrand standing there.

As the archivist talks, Yvra feels a curious mix of nervousness and excitement.

So it WASN'T really Molthune that raided our sacred vaults, but some hobgoblin army, the Ironfang Legion? Those fiends! Fascinating!! And the truth was brought to our attention by--who? what? KOBOLDS AND GOBLINS??

He feels his nictitating membranes unconsciously twitch protectively over his eyes--a nervous habit that had persisted since he was just a hatchling.

When was the last time I spoke to another kobold? I was just a child.

After a moment of standing with jaw agape, the red-scaled scholar pulls himself together and nods. "Of course, Archivist Lightbrand. I'd be happy to come speak with them. You say you're confident that they're on the up and up?"

After a lengthy walk through the corridors of Kraggodan, they reach the guest chambers. Yvra takes a breath to calm himself and then walks in.

All present see a somewhat wiry red-scaled kobold. (Those who know the area well would likely place him as a member of the Emberclaw Clan.) His eyes flash with intellect, and he's dressed--curiously--in very traditional dwarven fashion, much like Archivist Karburtin Lightbrand, who the companions met at the Council. On his belt hang several dozen small vials of various colors. He has a tool satchel on his belt where most warriors might hang their hammer or axe...and peaking out of his backpack one can see a bear trap and some razor wire.

Yvra's eye lingers on the sigil that grants the guests rights of hospitality here in his home of Kraggodan. "Greetings, and thank you for alerting us to--"

Suddenly another kobold materializes near the ceiling and circles to the ground.

Compensates for nothing! wrote:

"...for alerting us to the Ironfang Legion's deceipt. Uhhh, is he with you?."

Composing himself with visible effort, the kobold scholar tries again. "I am Yvra Brunhasson, and a sworn defender of my adoptive home." He pats the satchel of tools and supplies at his waist. "As such, I would be happy to assis--"
Those who know kobold will recognize that Brunhasson is NOT a kobold name. Those who know dwarven might recognize that it marks him as the son of a dwarf named Brunha...odd indeed for a kobold.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Yvra turns to see more goblins and kobolds being escorted into the chamber.

In a shaken voice, he asks. "OK, is this all of you?"

Oh Bang Bang Bang person has hammer like Compensates does and must probably be leader! Compensates thought as he took stock of the situation.

Most of the dwarfs, well, most of everything would have never seen a Kobold like him.
Even 3-pretty-tails-and-much-experience-with-drugs-being said she never saw someone like him before.

Keep coming up with names for me, as long as they are hilarious. Said the melodic female voice in his head
Enjoying the wide open mental spaces my dearest Lady in Shadows? Said the voice of none other then Lord APSU!
I have to confess that I did not exactly expect you of all deities to approach me in this manner, and you means of procuring plausible deniability are absolutly adorable. The melodic female voice spoke as Compensates felt an invisble yet very pleaseant pat on his head.
Honestly, this is beyond mere plausible deniability and goes into the realm of deniable plausibility. Now, dear Compensates, I hope you dont mind if we make use of the unused parts of your brain to have a talk yes? Just ignore us 2. The voic of Lord APSU finished, as Compensates could no longer hear either.
OK Boss! He thought as he refocused on observable reality.

While he was far more dextrous then physically strong, his body clearly showed well developed musculatures under his green skin, developed from spending most of his life wearing heavy armor. His forehead and head was crowned like that of a dragons, an auspicious sight among Kobolds, as a matter of fact, most Kobolds would consider him to be quite attractive. He generally moves with great, if fairly child-like and well, more adorable then authoritative, enthusiasm.

Last time I had audience with ruler-being, I made smesh of annoying crab demon and everyone, even pretty-being-that-appreciates-humorous-violence had fun watching me. He thinks as he looks arround looking for any Glabrezus, but presumeably does not find anyone even remotely having Glabrezu like features. Dear Red-sage-Yvra-being you be Translater being? Interesting! Maybe good-being-Kobolds here more frequent then elsewhere? And what is actually going on? Number, type and location of evil beingz and or evil plans would be much appreciated!

The unused parts of compensates mind, meaning most of it, are currently being used as secret communication channel of extremely deniable plausibility, but feel free to fill them up by dumping plot into them. That aspect of his background is currently just for amusement (I have a lot of fun writing it), but Redalia can use it to drop mystic hints, completely ignore it, pull GM-Rabits out of her hat or give Compensates orders/requests etc. .

A kobold in the service of The Exiled Wyrm instead of Dahak or the Lords of Hell?

A goblin who serves the Empyreal Lord of Spies?

And is that the holy symbol of Erastil around that other goblin's neck?

Are they for real?

Yvra's tongue tastes the air, and he shakes his head in disbelief. They certainly sound genuine.

With a bemused shrug and an uneasy smile, the red-scaled scholar says, "By Aspu's Cloaca! Maybe I'm not quite as odd a drake as I thought...or maybe the Gods of Law and Good have more of a sense of humor than my dwarven brethren give them credit for. And maybe there's more hope for my kind than childhood in my clutch suggested...

"I have no direct conduit to the divine, as some of you seem to, but my adoptive mother--may her memory always be a blessing--was a priestess to Folgit, The Watchful Mother, who looks over wives, mothers, children, and orphans. I pay my respects to her as Brunha did.

"At any rate, if there's an entire Legion to thwart, I am grateful for allies. Speaking of which..."

Yvra turns to face the companions who he thought he was coming to meet, before more goblins and kobolds crawled out of the woodwork.

"You all discovered the Legion's trickery. How? And who are you, that you chose to Right this Wrong? What else can you teach us, that has evaded the eyes of our scouts, and the tomes of our sages?"

Great. Well, it's the reinforcements we needed, I guess?

A copper-scaled 'dragon' blends into view wearing the most audacious combination of Tien, Varisian, and Dwarven silken armors, that armor concealed by a very coppery robe that almost seems to blend into her, sitting atop the highest bookshelf in the room and watching everyone warily.

She stretches a bit, wings flaring. Yawning as if either waking up from a nap or from boredom before glancing over the room, she gives the rest of the new arrivals a bit of a squinty look.

"Not that I really need to mention it, but my full official title is Her Draconic Excellence, Majestrix Petrykyxxz Jadetalon. If you have a hard time with Draconic, then Petra can suffice... I guess.".

At the mention of the trickery she shrugs a bit.

"The Legion attempted to attack the place I was Keeping My Stuff -- not that it wasn't adequately protected of course -- so we came up with an idea to infiltrate their forces and take them down from inside. When we did that, we discovered a trail of evidence that brought us to here. When we got here, we discovered that someone was trying to manipulate things by a serious number of flaws in the evidence -- not that the dwarves and other locals here wouldn't've found it eventually, of course.

So now it looks like people are showing up to help with the mission -- not that we necessarily NEED them, of course, and we're going to show the Legion that it's incredibly dangerous to under-estimate those they would trample underfoot."

yesyes my dear, I am indeed certain your taste too, would be greatly superior to that of the average Kobold. A virgin and a Paladin after all. Go ahead though, I do have an idle interest in the courtship rituals of various races and this should be humorous. Perhaps I may even, as a small favor for the provided entertainment, provide you with some small and timely pieces of my expert advice in such manners spoke the melodic female voice in his head.
What is a "Virgin" Lady very-pretty-female-being-that-knows-many-words?
Compensates thought confusedly. Only getting laughter as an answer.

Infiltrate? Compensates asks snipping back to reality.
You mean pretend to be evil being? Difficult for Compensates, if evil being is Antipaladin or medium to powerful demon, evil being can see Compensates is good-being-Paladin even if Compensates pretends to be evil being. He thinks, pacing a bit.
Doable if we make pretend that obey-spell is put on compensates. But then one other friend needs to pretend to be very powerful caster being.

Changing subjects, he asks her Draconic Majesty
What is known of Legion evil beingz? You said they like be cheeki-breeki-sneaky, meaning they be afraid to fight dwarf-good-beings directly, so maybe we just hit them first in balls, and then hit them in face when they bend over on account of being hit in balls?

Compensates jumps up and down exitedly at the thought, but then momentarily composes himself and says:

Although thats what compensates does to everything that tries to trample him, assuming it has balls that is. So maybe this not most specific suggestion?

disclaimer: I wrote this post hours ago before had lunch, worked in my studio for a few hours ago and then went to spend the evening with friends. I forgot to hit enter first. So, it's a bit of a non-sequitur now, but here goes anyway. Also, in the post below there's a link to a picture of Kwiazy so I don't have to give a full description.

Kwiazy looks at all the new small-folk, all willing to help against the Iron Legion. A smile is slow to spread across his face, but as it grows it literally covers most of his face, filled with very sharp teeth, but a smile none-the-less.

New-folk and old see a very changed Kwiazy, who, having been offered the services of dwarven crafts-folk, took the offer to heart and decided to up his swashbuckler creds by having some appropriate clothing made for his small frame. Today was his first chance to wear any of his new threads in public.

Kwiazy's new image

"It be.. it IS an honor and pleasure to meet all of you, new friends!" He quickly corrected his goblin syntax, something he still struggles with from time to time, though he's gotten much better at it than when he first joined this mixed group of goblin and kobolds...

I am Kwiazy, human-friend, dwarf-friend he added hurriedly and slayer of bad things."

He walks.. actually more like 'struts'... over to Beetly and holds out a hand in the very human gesture of a handshake request, showing no distaste for Beetly's dark and dirty condition. "A pleasure to meet you, Beetly. I think you and we can both learn from each other. It will be my honor to call you 'friend'."

None of the others seemed so shy as the goblin 'spy', so he addressed the rest as a group. "A pleasure to meet you all... I'm sure that together we can open a whole bag of holding full of whoopass on those Iron Fangs. Here's to our future success!" He raises a closed fist into the air and says "Viva la Resistance!" He's not exactly sure what the Galtan words 'viva la' mean, but he understands the gist, and hopes the others do as well.
