Petrahk Jadetalon |
Thank you very much for that clarification!
Despite the welcome and assurance of the locals after recovering some of their people, Petrahk is still a bit wary.
"Not saying we should be watchful or anything, but we need to keep an eye out in case the hobbies come back, right? We don't want to get these people in trouble when we're helping them, right?"
The dragonette is suggesting that the team still keep watches just in case.

Kwiazy kneels in front of Sorah. "Me am glad we find uncle person. Don't be sad, little Sorah. We go find Sorah-father tomorrow, yes? Kwiazy promise me not give up! Sorah promise not give up too, yes?" He looks to the adult humans for a moment, hoping for some clue that he said it right, then back to Sorah... He gives her a wide smile then leans forward a little, spreading his arms and offers her a hug.
Then he stands and looks at Petrahk thoughtfully. "We keep watch... longshanks need keep watch too!"
Xakroo the Arrow Shooter |
Xakroo nodded, The hobgoblins must know that there are still people here...and they're always fond of getting new slaves. I agree, having lookouts is a smart move.
Alaka Zam |
Ha ha... good clarification, but I guess Alaka is just going to play it like she is confused. She changed her spells already... but you know, they still turn into healing spells, so not sure it matters, and more fun just to go with it since someone specifically told her to change her spells out for ghost ones. Maybe it was a practical joke. :)
Kwiazy |
Kwiazy is good to go...
Kwiazy sits his watch and sleeps before and after... wakes ready to face a new day and new dangers.
Petrahk Jadetalon |
When it comes time for the dragonette's watch, she makes her way to a tall building and camps out in a nook, watching over the area warily from a different angle than most people approaching would consider. Not that she's paranoid or anything, of course...
Xakroo the Arrow Shooter |
When Xakroo and Zarvak take up their watch, they keep an eye out through a high point. Zarvak occasionally chirps, which gets a head and chin scratch from the arrow shooter.

Trinket the Great and Heroic is ready for further adventure!
Kwiazy |
Ready to be off, Kwiazy is grateful for the information from the villagers. He hugs Sorah back and whispers softly, "We will do everything we can to bring your father... your daddy... back home to you. I pledge my steel and my life to see you two together again." A little voice in his head niggles at him, Let's hope it doesn't come to that, you idiot. And yet, despite his doubts, he is no less sincere in his promise. He gives her a second hug and lets her circulate among the others before departing with them.
Jynnjun |
"Sure! And maybe when we get back I can show you a trick or two of adventuring...you seem to have some talent" Jynnjun answers Sorah as with an effort of will she lets the human child catch her this time.
Xakroo the Arrow Shooter |
Xakroo is unsure of how he feels when Sorah hugs him, but he just hugs her back. Don't worry, we will bring him back, he smiled at her. You idiot, you don't know that, he growled to himself, It'll be a miracle if he's anywhere near alive...you know hobgoblins better then that...
Petrahk Jadetalon |
Not that she really NEEDS to or anything, Petrahk gives Sorah a 'double' hug, both with her arms and her wings.
"We will do everything we can. You and your family need to be safe, smart, and strong to be ready for when we return, okay?" she offers with a draconic sibilance. I hope we're not endangering these people with our presence and continued efforts -- not that it matters to me or anything.
Alaka Zam |
Alaka smiles at Sorah, then sets off towards the Hobgoblin camp.

Kwiazy hurries to catch up and walk next to Alaka and continues beside her at the front of the little band, at least in front of those who walk in the open. Obviously not everyone remains on the ground or in the open. Just to be ready, he walks with his blade in hand, ready for trouble. He speaks to Alaka quietly so as not to alert any dangers or scouts hidden along the route. "Me am worried abou... I am worried about Sorah. What if hobbogobbos already kill Sorah-father? She be sad, and say we bad for not keeping promises. M... I not want Sorah sad or mad." He is obviously trying hard to emulate longshanks common, but struggling with pronouns and syntax.
"We be..." he scowls and shakes his head as he rethinks his words..."We need to stop these bad hobbogobbos! But mebbe we need find leader behind attacks and stop him so to make them stop." He sighs, rubs his temple with his free hand, his head hurting from so much thinking. "What you think?"
near or in the front of the party in regards to marching order, keeping an close eye on surroundings nearby while he walks, trusting others to be doing the same in their own way.

Trinket proudly marches in the front of the group, leading the way with her sword in hand and regularly making heroic pronouncements.
Trinket's Lucky Number for the Day is: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Dripple |
Dripple probably takes up the back, as many of the others seem to like to stab things up close, and no one wants to follow in Dripple's muddy footprints as he leaves a trail of puddles behind.
Xakroo the Arrow Shooter |
Xakroo takes up the middle with Zarvak, who looks with Kwiazy solemnly. It's...it's a forlorn hope. But it's still hope that we have to hold on. They don't kill off all their slaves overnight...all we can do is hope that we can get him back. If not...well... he stammered. He really didn't know what to do if they had to tell the girl her father was dead...he never had to deal with children like this before, so this was completely lost on this.
Alaka Zam |
Alaka talks back to Kwaizy, also quietly, explaining what she has learned from serving her beloved fire-goddess.
Don't worry Kwiazy. If we think good things instead of bad things, then good things can happen. The priest of Sarenrae calls it "faith" and it means that we think good things for Sorah and we ask Sarenrae for help to keep Sorah's father safe, and then we believe that she will help us. We don't waste time thinking he is dead. We just go save him. And when we do save him we are supposed to call it a "miracle" instead of "lucky." It is a cool god-thing.
Kwiazy |

"Me haz... I ha-have heard of this faith thing... longsh... hooman priests tried tell me about it when I be younger. Very hard to learn. I will try. We are off to rescue Sorah-father. He still alive and we find him! We make cool god-thing happen! You very much smarter than me. Must have faith like you say and hope too like Xakroo say." Kwiazy's step becomes a bit lighter as he continues along the way. I hope Alaka right. She smart, not same like Trinket, strange and different smart.

"Not that we're going to need it or anything, but keep an ear for whispers from me, I'm going to get some eyes from above." Petrahk states as she casts a spell. Message: Has a range of 180', a duration of 80 minutes, and can hit the entire party.
In a precautionary yet rather dismissive air she also conjures a force armor around herself. Mage Armor: +4 AC including incorporeal, duration 8 hours
The dragonette will then take to the skies, casually flying loops to compensate for her much faster than ground speed to make sure she doesn't get too far ahead from the rest of the party.
Kwiazy |
Kwiazy nods to Petrahk. "Eyes in the sky is good idea." He watches her take off and smiles, not quite wishing he could fly like her, but a bit envious of the ability none-the-less. It looks like fun.
Kwiazy |
Kwiazy wrinkles his nose... the assault of smells he hasn't experienced so strongly since his childhood is something he finds disturbing. So much time around longshanks... they may not be perfect but they be cleaner. Smell better too. Me like cleaner.
He looks for and hopefully finds some cover so he won't be spotted immediately from those towers or by wandering patrols.
stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
Alaka Zam |
Alaka gets closer, and then studies the tents to see if she can make anything out.
Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 20 = 28 (+5 if hidden)
Dripple |
Dripple sneaks and peeks along with the others.
Stealth: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (1) + 30 = 31
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Petrahk Jadetalon |
It's kind of hard to be 'stealthy' when flying, but the dragonette does her level best to keep the sun behind her as she approaches, forcing anyone looking at her to look at the bright light.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 -1 if Light Sensitivity would be a factor.

Yup! Nothing would get by her! Not nobody, not nohow!
Alaka Zam |
Alaka thinks about throwing a fireball, but then remembers that they have to save Sorah's father, and she doesn't think that Sorah would like to have him burned, so instead she just sneaks up closer to take a look.
Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (15) + 20 = 35 (+5 vs. hidden)
I'm sure she thinks she is being super sneaky, but that isn't a great roll. She is quite perceptive though. :)

perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22

Stealth: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (3) + 30 = 33
Petrahk Jadetalon |
Petrahk is kind of surprised that she managed to sneak past and attempts to continue her stealthy flight path into the camp, ready to break away if she draws an alarm for the good of the party.
Of course she'd totally not be doing that to save her own hide!
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26-1 if Light Sensitivity is in play
Posting when I can see the updates, hope you feel better soon and the computer stuff works out okay, too, GM!

Trinket sneaks forward some more.
Stealth: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24
GM Redelia |
I forgot how crazily good goblins and kobolds are at sneaking...
You are able to sneak through the camp unseen, and find yourself in an area near camp where there are seven cages hanging, six containing miserable looking human captives and one containing an angry looking hobgoblin.
Kwiazy |
Kwiazy looks at the captives in the cages, scowling slightly... which one was Sorah's father-person and why was a hobgoblin among the captives. He looks around and if he sees nobody guarding or watching the prisoners other than his own friends, he walks forward, toward the hobgoblin, blade in hand, and pokes at him without hurting him...
in goblin, he asks: "Who you be? why you in cage? Who you piss off?" If the hobgoblin tries to sound an alarm, he does his best to silence him as quickly as possible, otherwise, he listens to the fellow's responses.
He glances over at the longshanks and looks for any resemblance to Sorah in their faces... and after dealing with the hobgoblin (either eliciting responses or killing him), he walks over to the hoomans and concentrates very hard on organizing his thoughts and words, then speaks softly...
"Is one of you Sorah's father or do you know where Sorah-father-person is?" He waits for an answer, trying to looks friendly without smiling, since goblins showing teeth seems to frighten or agitate most longshanks.
Alaka Zam |
How high up are the cages hanging? Do we need to climb up?
Alaka examines the cages to see how they are locked, and what they need to do to free the prisoners without alerting everyone (or if they can't, how fast they can get them out).
Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25
