Belle smiles. "That does not last very long. I have no idea how long we were in those tunnels, but certainly more than one minute. Its a pity I lost the chamomile tea (or Pathfinder equivelent) with Pill."
Belle PBP
"Always a trade-off with spells like that. Now if we could go tiny, that would be awesome!"
After spending a few minutes talking spells, and normal life things like a visit to the theater, Belle returns to one of her fallen comrades' old tent (her gear fled with Pill) and falls into an exhausted sleep.

Brodin, Tony, Belle and Raynaud bed down for the night. Agyen and Garrosh, very happy to be back in their protective metal carapaces set to watching.
Agyen Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
GarroshPerception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
GM Hands of Fate
Lets try this again . You will just have to trust me on rolls.
All but Agyen and Garrosh bed down, hoping for a restful night. About an hour after Agyen notices movement from the corner of his eye and turns to see three insubstantial forms with malevolent, glowing eyes swoop in. Two merge with trees near him and Garrosh while the third swoops right up to him.
You had an average initiative of 12. They rolled a Nat 20 for 27. Only Agyen is aware. Their action is to move in. Two are inside trees and have full cover.
Initiative Order
Surprise Round - single action only
1) Insubstantial Forms
2) Agyen
For every 5 over the DC you may ask 1 question.

KnRel: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
When she get init she will tell you all she found out - which is squat. This is going to hurt a lot.
GM Hands of Fate
Belle is currently asleep, so cannot speak. Most likely she will be awake very soon. Ditto for Brodin, Tony and Reynard.
Belle PBP
I also don't like to have my character speak if she is still surprised. I'll always wait for my init under those circumstances.
GM Hands of Fate
Agyen tells you that wraiths are incorporeal, can only be damaged with magical weapons, and even those are not as effective as usual. Their touch drains a living opponents vitality (constitution), and a living target slain by a wraith becomes a wraith shortly afterwards, but they are powerless in sunlight.
More things that Agyen rattles off throughout the course of the combat:
An incorporeal creature has no natural armor bonus but has a deflection bonus equal to its Charisma bonus (always at least +1, even if the creature’s Charisma score does not normally provide a bonus).
An incorporeal creature can enter or pass through solid objects, but must remain adjacent to the object’s exterior, and so cannot pass entirely through an object whose space is larger than its own. It can sense the presence of creatures or objects within a square adjacent to its current location, but enemies have total concealment (50% miss chance) from an incorporeal creature that is inside an object. In order to see beyond the object it is in and attack normally, the incorporeal creature must emerge. An incorporeal creature inside an object has total cover, but when it attacks a creature outside the object it only has cover, so a creature outside with a readied action could strike at it as it attacks. An incorporeal creature cannot pass through a force effect.
An incorporeal creature’s attacks pass through (ignore) natural armor, armor, and shields, although deflection bonuses and force effects (such as mage armor) work normally against it. Incorporeal creatures pass through and operate in water as easily as they do in air. Incorporeal creatures cannot fall or take falling damage. Incorporeal creatures cannot make trip or grapple attacks, nor can they be tripped or grappled. In fact, they cannot take any physical action that would move or manipulate an opponent or its equipment, nor are they subject to such actions. Incorporeal creatures have no weight and do not set off traps that are triggered by weight.
An incorporeal creature moves silently and cannot be heard with Perception checks if it doesn’t wish to be. It has no Strength score, so its Dexterity modifier applies to its melee attacks, ranged attacks, and CMB. Nonvisual senses, such as scent and blindsight, are either ineffective or only partly effective with regard to incorporeal creatures. Incorporeal creatures have an innate sense of direction and can move at full speed even when they cannot see.

One wraith glides toward Agyen, and the other reach out of the trees at Brodin and Garrosh, their insubstantial hands passing through armor and clothing. The three of them gasp in pain as they feel the icy touch of the wraiths.
Brodin, Tony, Belle and Reynaud come instantly awake at Agyen's yelling. Seeing the form hovering in front of them, and hearing Agyen's description, they know they are in serious trouble.

Fort DC17: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 Phew!
Brodin wakes instantly to the sound of Agyen yelling, automatically reaching for his bow as he processes what Agyen is saying.
" Magic ye say? I can do that." he declares, and starts rummaging in his backpack to retrieve a bottle, which he then pours on his bow.
retrieve item=move action, use oil of magic weapon=standard action (I now have 2 left)
Belle PBP
Belle collects her wand of Summon Monster II (move action) and starts a summoning (standard). She is unable to rise yet as that is a move action.
"No! No more deaths!"
Tony Tanner
Tony is startled awake, by the screaming. Drawing his magic dagger as he rises.
After actually getting a good look at what is unfolding, he shivers a bit. Aww hell
Tony braces himself before wading in to help Aygen.
Acrobatics (Avoid AOO): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Reynaud La Croix
Nobody's dying if I can help it, Belle.
Reynaud leaps to his feet; he ignores the armor and shield, having neither time nor anything that would stop the wraith's attacks anyway.
Hope you've an idea to summon that can hurt these things more than I can.
GM Hands of Fate
Brodin may want to move otherwise he will be getting 2 attacks of opportunity. Reynaud gets another action, standard or move.
Next Up: Garrosh and Agyen
Brodin RockHammer
|
Didn't realise we were prone, though I should have. In that case Brodin's first move would be to draw weapons (grab bow) while standing up and his second would be to move away. Next turn he will look for and apply the oil of magic weapon.
Agyen the Eternal
Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Ouch... Should've taken great fortitude instead of improved initiative. :( Run away!
Agyen recoils from the wraith as it strikes him, and he seems almost to fall down from from exhaustion, before hurrying away. Withdraw
His dagger continues to slash at the wraith.
FF SW: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 171d10 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Brodin would most likely stand and move away acrobatically, to avoid AoO's. I'll go ahead and make that roll for you. ;)
Brodin Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Waking to the icy touch of the wraith reaching into his chest, Brodin grabs his bow and rolls away before the creature can strike again. Agyen's dagger slices toward one of the wraiths, but misses.
Garrosh Saurfang
Garrosh growls and steps back away from the creature close to him, to utter a spell of divine protection on his companions - I'll try to layer some protection on all of us, but this isn't going to be easy!"

Wraith Confirm Crit on Garrosh AC 13: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9for 1d6 ⇒ 4 extra negative energy damage
The wraith closest to Tony , and the one in the tree closes to him, swoop in at the rogue, who deftly dodges their life-draining touch. The third emerges from its tree and lunges at Garrosh, plunging it's dark hand into the half-orc's chest. Fortunately, the warpriest dodges at the last moment, avoiding the creature grabbing his heart.

Belle will finish her summoning and place an elemental in the fire pit.
Belle then stands and casts a boosted (using 1 point from her arcane reservoirs) Burst of Radiance catching the two southern-most wraiths but nobody else.
DC 18 reflex save or be blinded for 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds, save dazzles instead.
They take 5d4 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 2, 3) = 12 damage with no save since they are evil.
Belle instructs the elemental to move into a flank with Tony before attacking.
@Hands of Fate
Do you want to run the elemental or me. I can't seem to add an icon to roll20 so at the very least that will be your job.
I'm also assuming the fire damage is energy damage and can harm the wraiths. If not, let me know so I can summon something that can hit it - if there is anything.
Agyen the Eternal
Agyen's force barrage continues, focusing on the one wraith his dagger is currently attacking. He summons three missiles this time. Yay for 5th level!

Belle, I'll add the elemental and grant you control. I've got enough to do. AFAIK, elemental attacks are not magical. Just like a torch is not magical. Wraiths take half damage from corporeal magic, so 6 points. and the non damaging parth has a 50% chance of affecting them.

RECAP
Belle’s burst of radiance seemed to damage the creatures, but did not seem to have any other effect. The elemental did provide tony with an excellent chance to flank, but he chose to attach the wraith that Agyen had hit with both dagger and magic missile, tearing minute bits of the blackness from it’s body with the magical dagger. Brodin applied the oil of magic weapon to his bow, while Reynaud performed a savage strike at the wraith near Garrosh, causing the wraith to emit an eerie shriek. Garrosh steps back, speaks a word and his bardiche glows with a silvery light as he brings it to bear against the wraith, but the warpriest is unable to manage to land a blow.
Wraith Attacks Tony AC 18: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 for 1d6 ⇒ 4 negative energy damage if hit.
Wraith Attacks Reynaud AC 18: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 for 1d6 ⇒ 4 negative energy damage if hit.
GM Hands of Fate
The two wraiths on Tony reach for his soul, one grazing his cheek, causing excruciating pain. One dives into a nearby tree, while the other moves away from Agyen's force dagger. The third attempts to claim Reyanud's life, but the big warrior dodges as the wraith floats backward into the tree behind it.
Tony, 1 point of damage and a DC 17 Fort Save. Two wraits are inside trees with Total Cover.

Belle moves over by Reynaud and readies an action to cast Magic Missile on the first wraith to leave a tree. Leaving her with no spells left.
MM damage: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 3, 3) + 3 = 12
The elemental moves over to provide a possible flank for Tony and futilely attempts to fry it.
A couple of questions:
1) How long has it been since we were in the caves. If less than 5 or 6 hours (I forget if I boosted it) the Mage Armors are still active. Otherwise - not!
2) Where is Brodin's wand of Mage Armor? On his person of by his bed?
GM Hands of Fate
[s]Agyen, I'm going to have to check and see if you can maintian two spells which require concentration at the same time...my gut instinct is no.[s] Never mind. You can.
Belle, the space you moved into was half occupied by cliff wall. You, in essence, have pushed Reynaud forward to get behind him. I don't have a problem with that :) I just wanted to point that out.
I'm going to say MA is not active any longer.

Agyen summons a second force dagger and the two go after the one visible wraith. Tony and Brodin attack the same wraith, while Belle and Garrosh prepare to attack the ‘treed’ wraiths when they appear again.
