Screeching in pain as it moves forward, the red scorpion's chitin turns Samduc's blade aside but Rab's blow manages to nick the scorpion lightly.
Red scorpion, 9/16hp
Pressing on the attack, the two scorpions continue to attack Samduc although they are unable to bring their stings to bear due to moving forward.

Fortunately, neither scorpion is able to find purchase against Samduc's armor. Gruul charges a cure light wounds spell but doesn't discharge it.

Of course I don't have spark as a cantrip. Why would I? Do you still want that light spell, Rab?
Lacking for a better course of action, Mithven draws a dagger and looks to the rogue, hoping he has an idea.
move: draw dagger, hold action until Rab says yay or nay on the light. If he wants it, cast light if not, hurl the dagger at the injured scorpion.

Action edited after derping reading the map
Taking the opportunity to spring forward, Rab steps nimbly over the scorpion to a perch atop the open door, balancing deftly. Rab moves through red's square, using its tail as a springboard to perch in the corner created by the wall of the door.

Unfortunately, as awesome as the action would have been, your Acrobatics roll was insufficient to springboard off of the scorpion's tail. This means that you are in the square you began in, and the scorpion gets an attack of opportunity.
Red scorpion, claw 1 attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Rab attempts to vault from the scorpion to the top of the door but unfortunately the scorpion's tail proves to be an unsafe platform, causing him to land back in front of the enraged beast. It attempts to catch him in it's claw but thankfully only scrapes the tip of it's claw across his armour.
Also Samduc, you need to make another save. If you make it, the poison is neutralised. If not...
This time, the scorpions attack separate targets; the red scorpion attacking Rab who just tried to vault over it and the blue scorpion pressing the attack against Samduc.

The blue scorpion manages to pinch Samduc's armor, causing some damage. Fortunately it fails to find purchase and the claw slips back from Samduc's arm unable to grab onto him.
The sting of the red scorpion flashes down and punctures Rab's armor. He feels pain course through his body.
Fort save please, Rab. DC is 14. Gruul is up and may discharge his healing spell on either Rab or Sam.

Rab twists his body to throw his dagger, using the scorpion's own body for cover.
As his friend cries for the end of the venomous beast, its stinger arcing towards his breast, Rab knows he must be accurate. His breathing stills and time itself seems to slow as he whips the stiletto at the soft underbelly of his foe, hoping the confusion of shuffling legs and shifting chitin confuses the beast's senses.

The little halfling draws a piton from his belt, rolls onto his back, and barks at his porter, Frank, who stands behind the group in the grip of terror.
Throw the grapple, Frank! THROW IT TO ME!
As the stout man rummages in the pack, galvanized by his employer's tone, and casts the grapple to Rab, the halfling hooks the iron end into his belt, ordering the porter to pull. As the bulky man easily pulls the tiny halfling from danger, Rab strikes his piton against the rocky ground. A few sparks at first echo across the eerily silent cavern before one catches, and as the chittering scorpion tries to keep his morsel from escaping, the very ground bursts into flame with a muffled whoosh, Rab emerging only singed from the fuel driven inferno. The shriek of pain and fear from the scorpion brings a smile to Rab's lips as he dusts himself off.
Frank's Move to draw grapple, and standard to enact voluntary pull combat maneuver at range. Rab's Move to roll over and strike piton on stone for sparks, lighting Oil placed earlier, dealing 1d3 ⇒ 3 damage this round to red, and an additional 1d3 next round in that square.
Rab sweats profusely. He mops his brow with a loose sleeve, ragged from his ordeal so far. He looks shaky on his feet, and the puncture wound in his armor seeps black ichor.
Anyone have a healer's kit? he asks calmly, before shuddering to the ground.
Also this looks mad epic in my mind.
| Mithven Droverson |
Without time to admire the bravery of the halfling, Mithven steps over the prone form of his companion, knowing that although he's not in the best shape to stand in the front line, the scorpion could easily finish off his friend, if he's not already dead.
"Gruul, can you pull him out?" he shouts over his shoulder, even as he lunges at one of the overgrown vermin with his dagger, wincing as the strike just deflects off the chitinous carapace.

My STR is currently a 2, giving me a 15lbs carry capacity. With 7.5 armor, 4.5 in the pack, and having dropped everything else, I'm at 12 lbs, a heavy load. If I attempt to heft my crossbow, with a weight of 2 lbs, and the quarrel to load it, I'm at 14.5, and even if you can load a crossbow with a 2 STR, I'd be taking so many penalties it's ridiculous.
Rab clutches his dart weakly in clammy hands, interposing it shakily between him and the remaining insects.

By my reckoning you've only taken 1d2 ⇒ 2 Strength damage from the initial hit, and you've got a Fort save to take for round 3.
Samduc's sword unfortunately clatters off the scorpion's chitin once again.
I think you should be able to take an action, Rab, so go ahead and take one. Lord knows you guys need the help! ;)
