The tunnels do stink. The ratfolk tracks do lead around the bend. And yes, Kali Soy is out of her element. Probably when she first stepped into Ptolus itself. Ptolus' undercity -- most notably the sewers -- isn't the most fashionable part of Ptolus.

You hear squeaking and skritching coming from around the corner.

Is this corner two tunnels meeting in a 4 way intersection, a T-intersection, or just a bend in the tunnel? If there are other tunnels can I use ghost sound to make the sound of fighting appear to come from the other tunnel(s) and lure/distract ratfolk guards?

Barbaric battle pride... I think I read something like this once, maybe it will work.

Shellin has a spell that can lure them into the other tunnel so that we can kill any pesky archers in the flank, first."
Shellin steps back towards the tunnel they came from, putting Kali and Alexa between him and the oncoming ratfolk.

The Ratfolk seem to be nearing with high pitched screeches and scratches. It's only a matter of time when the first ratfolk turns his ugly head around in the sewers.

At this, Shellin will speak up. "A small number of our common folk fear you, that is why we have come. Why do you raid the city above?"

How many of them? Any archers? Any wearing metal armor or wielding mostly metal weapons?

You can see about five or so. maybe six. A lot of them are wearing metal armor, and no archers. The sewers are cramped for missile weapons, and these unwanted didn't take the time to use them in the sewers. They do use them in the world above.
