It'd be a DC 20 Acrobatics check, so nevermind... for some reason I was thinking it'd only be DC 5. Shoulda eaten lunch.
I'm about out of ideas. I don't suppose Tobi could overrun the quickling off the stone, where the rest of us could get at it?
Tobold "Tobi" Fusil |
I'm thinking overrun if that's something I can feasibly pull of in this situation. If we can get him down or drop him, maybe we can get the stone out of the sun.
Alia Charybdis |
Alia coolly slots up a bolt and works the recharge lever,
aims,
and lets fly...
Crossbow Bolt vs Cyflymder: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 1 = 14
Sarenrae, grant me the strength to kill Desna!
Mrachni Swordfollower |
Sorry, I meant bull rush. If you can bull rush him off of there, I can run up and cast obscuring mist with dagger drawn. That should at least block the sun and let me take an AoO... gah, wish I hadn't dropped my longsword.
Mrachni Swordfollower |
Bull rush moves him, overrun just sends you past him. I think you should be able to bull rush him off the pillar...
Tobold "Tobi" Fusil |
Yeah, that's what I meant. Sorry, typing from my phone was awkward. Well here goes nothing.
In a last ditch effort to recover the lorestone, Tobi charges the quickling, hoping to at least knock it from its perch.
Tobi draws his lance as part of his charge.
Charging Bull Rush Attempt: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 (using last halfling luck) If I can't bull rush, it's just a charge at an additional +2.
Lance Damage if not Bull Rush: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (5, 1) + 8 = 14
Mrachni Swordfollower |
Going to await outcome of your charge, but DM, if you find it necessary to NPC me, the plan is to double move adjacent to the creature (drawing dagger) and quick-cast obscuring mist using fervor. If I can charge-grapple him, all the better... have +10 to movement from War Mind for a total of 30'. Will post in the morning if you haven't. :)
DM, I'd sortof like to chat with you before you wrap this up, but I understand that you're busy and our schedules don't always coincide (and I really need to go to bed now, so I can't write you a PM). You have my Gtalk address, so feel free to IM me or catch me in the chat if you're open to talking and have a few minutes. :)

Bull Rush is not one of the maneuvers that uses a weapon so you'd need to make the jump to do it. I'm also going to say without the leap you can't charge, just move and attack, that said 9 - his DR is enough to drop him.
In his moment of victory the quickling looks down as the first rays of light penetrate the shadowy globe as the stone shudders and notices a lance in his gut. As the light of life leaves his eyes the stone drops from his hand and rolls down onto the grass.
Mrchani rushes over and calls on Iomedae for a mist to help block out the sun's rays, but the mist only surrounds Mrachni and is not thick enough to block out the sun! Thinking fast Mrachni stomps down hard on this stone, his large orcish boot squishing the stone enough into the muddy ground that as long as he doesn't move his foot the suns rays won't get to it.
The remaining faerie flutters away to continue Cyflymder's quest of wanton destruction elsewhere.
Assuming you guys eventually come up with a solution for getting the stone out without letting the sun's rays tough it...I'm curious to hear it though.
Eventually you return the stone to return Absalom’s Grand Lodge where it is added to the collection—although unlocking its mysteries will
consume many years (at best).
Additionally, defeating Cyflymder removes a minor menace from the Verduran Forest, allowing local, peaceful druidic activity to resume. But, as explorers push ever deeper into the dark groves, friction is bound to flare up again.
Congratulations everyone! I've got to finish packing, I'll try and get chronicle sheets out tonight, but I'm not sure where I'm staying has internet, so there may be a delay of a day or two. Mrachni: I'll try and catch you online when possible.

Doh! Sorry, I forgot about the jump checks; I was tired... At least it ended up not mattering.
Tobi, saddened by the necessity of killing the poor misguided fey, takes the time to bury Cyflymder. Then, noting his own exhaustion, he realizes his friends must be equally tired and probably hungry as well, so he suggests they camp.
"It's been a long day. Tug and me'll go find us some food; you guys get some rest," he tells his companions.
Tug's Survival to Aid: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Tobi's Survival to Food and Water his Allies: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 I'd say everybody's sufficiently sustained. LoL.
Also, my suggestion is that Tug and I take a nap on top of the lorestone until it gets dark, then we can take it back. We did just pull an all-nighter.

Chagrined, Alia shakes her head.
With such a promising start, this did not go half as well as I had hoped. Still, Mrachni was able to save the mission: that's one for Iomedae.
Well, there's always next time.
Those of you that are hurt, please...gather round!
Channel Energy: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Channel Energy: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Channel Energy: positive energy, healing up to 9 points of damage, effects all living creatures within a 30' radius of Alia, and also effects Alia, as well.
The +1 bonus is for Alia's Blessed Touch trait.
And thank you, Tobi!
