Rob, what did my knowledge check tell me about their ability to be reasoned with?

Minotaurs are intelligent, you don't think they speak common but aren't quite sure what they do speak. They also tend to be fairly single minded in pursuit of their prey.

Bit of extra description:

The glazed bovine eyes of this bull-headed humanoid betray a feral cunning. With the torso of a muscular human, this beast is covered with thick, shaggy fur from the waist down. Its gnarled and callused hands grip the haft of a massive axe, the edge stained from the blood of its previous victims. With a furious snort and a stamp of its hooves, it lowers its deadly horns.

Is the halfling within charge range of the minotaur?


We can negate the charge, that's not a problem. We just need to get its attention.

We could try blocking off the slope, but retreating up there...maybe it'll be too dumb and try to climb the wall?

Hey GM, can I use Alchemical Grease as a stand-in for grease?

Alchemical grease does what it says in the item description. It does not duplicate the grease spell.


Alternatively, Darius has the grease spell. =)

I think the idea is to not get into full-out combat with it, just get it distracted so that our halfling friend has a better chance of getting away... and then get out of here ourselves.

Alright. My character can shout to Janira asking what's in the glue bag. If it's something realllly sticky, I could try to coat the wall of the cave mouth with it, and then we can retreat inside. The minotaur will necessarily rub up against the wall to squeeze through, getting stuck to the wall...hopefully. At that point, we can pelt it with ranged weapons, or just leave it there...actually we probably want to kill it and remove it, due to gillmen.

Janira is still by herself until we can kill the thing, but we won't be in such a bad position.

Looking at the Druid AC section in the Core, it seems as if maybe the AC can rage at will. Does anyone know?

Looking at it, i think the animal companion gets barbarian-like rage, rather than the blood rage thing that badgers get, or the almost identical but not quite rage that wolverines get.

So, the companion can be angry. (for 6 rounds a day, and fatigues like a barbarian etc)
