Hello! I saw that a couple of other players have some options on what to bring so I'm sure that bringing your mesmerist shouldn't be a problem :)
Also, I'm still finding my sea legs a bit in regards to GM stuff so if anyone has any questions about how I handle certain things then please feel free to ask! It's early enough that we've got time to talk things over a bit :)

![]() |

Cool, so here's my swashmerist (I still have to update his sheet). :)
He's a Ganzi (yay GM boons), basically he can make an enemy or an ally reroll once per day (a save negates). I use it mainly when he's on the doors of death.
Here are my infos:
Player Name : Zinou
Character Name : Esh Kethar
Class/Level : Swashbuckler (Inspired Blade) 1 / Mesmerist 3
PFS# (include character dash) : 93583-8
Faction : The Exchange
Day Job Roll : Perform (Oratory): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Any questions or miscellaneous information : Esh is a ganzi, thus he has the "quibble" ability usable once per day.
Quibble: Once per day as an immediate action, a ganzi can twist probability and alter the luck of a single creature within 30 feet, forcing it to reroll a single d20 on a roll it has just made. The target must take the second result, even if it is worse. A ganzi may use this ability after the target has rolled, but must use it before the GM declares if the roll was a success or failure. Unwilling creatures may resist a ganzi’s influence with a successful Will save (DC = 10 + 1/2 the ganzi’s level + the ganzi’s Charisma modifier). This is a curse effect.

Taldan Cavalier (Courtly Knight)
Keleshite Spiritualist
Ulfen Vigilante (Avenger)
Varisian Ranger (Deepwalker/Guide/Trapper)*

Sylph Sky Druid*
Nagaji Naga Aspirant Druid*

Hello everyone!
I'll be playing Katswiri, a Garundi Lore Oracle. She's deaf from her oracle curse, but has learned to read lips to interact socially. She has a wide range of knowledge and social skills, can heal, receive auguries of the immediate future and is a reasonable, if not spectacular combatant.
Info!
Player Name: GM 7thGate
Character Name: Katswiri
Class/Level: Oracle 3
PFS #: 228480-1
Faction: Scarab Sages
Day Job: Craft: Painting: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
I look forward to playing with all of you!

Based on what I've read (snooping a couple of games to get an idea of your posting style and expectations) I don't see anything out of the ordinary. If there are any expectations from your side you want to make sure we know, happy to hear them too.
OOC disclosure information on me:
1) I ran this at GenCon.
2) I'm running this again this slot.
3) I'm overseer for it at a local con before this ends.
So I do not plan to be the party decision maker. (I'll lean towards characters that shouldn't be the party face or leader as well, so the Cavalier and the Vigilante are probably bad fits. It's also part of why I think the drunk support sounds like a good fit for the situation.)

![]() |

Some notes on the mechanical effects of Katswiri's deafness, as the condition doesn't usually come up that often:
Katswiri has the deaf oracle curse, so she cannot hear. Mechanically, deafness:
--Causes her to automatically fail all perception checks based on sound
--Gives her a -4 penalty to initiative checks.
--Gives her a -4 penalty to opposed perception checks
--Makes her immune to language dependent spells and abilities, and audible bardic performances
--Would give her a 20% spell failure chance for casting spells with verbal components, but her curse gives her the silent spell metamagic on all her spells for free with no level or cast time increase.
To help understand the people around her, she took read lips as a language with linguistics as noted in the PFS faq: http://paizo.com/organizedplay/faq#v5748eaic9vhs
More recently, she has purchased magical Spectacles of Lip Reading, which have made it much easier for her to understand those around her without needing ideal conditions (she just needs to pass a DC 0 perception check, modified by distance and conditions as appropriate to understand someone).

Hello, folks! Thanks for checking in; I've been here and reading your posts but I wanted to wait until I had a good chunk of time to sit down and write a proper reply to what's been mentioned so far.
@Esh - Cool beans! I've never played with, seen, or GMed for a Ganzi character so this will be fun for me too. Thank you for explaining the 'Quibble' ability - it seems like it's basically the same as the Misfortune hex/revelation except only usable once a day and allows that save to resist the effect. Due to the nature of PbP 'immediate' actions can sometimes be tricky to handle since we can't always be online at the same time for quick back-and-forth posting. As a result, when and if Esh wants to make use of Quibble then simply call it out and I'll reroll and retcon as necessary. Alternatively, if you want to designate a specific circumstance ahead of time where Esh would use it, then you may and I can automatically account for it when such a situation comes up.
@GM Thrawn - I try to be trusting and give people the benefit of the doubt, so feel free to play whichever character you'd like. However, I'm sure that your drunken sensei would be a fun character to see in action so if you'd prefer to play that one then that will work for me!
@Katswiri - Thank you for an in-depth explanation of how your oracle curse functions! That will hopefully make it easier for me to tailor posts to account for it and since you have a way to communicate with others then we don't have to waste a bunch of time making rolls unless the circumstances are odd :)
______
A little about me: I've been participating in Play-by-Post here on the forums for about 3 and 1/2 years now and I've been doing Society play here for maybe 2 and 1/2 years, though it's only been in the last year or so that I've really gotten into it. For those that haven't already stalked checked out my profile you'll see that while I've got a lot of experience as a player, I'm very new to GMing. Our session of Solstice Scar will make my 4th game ever as GM - so I ask your patience as I'm bound to make mistakes here and there :)
My posting habits: Due to the nature of my job (healthcare) I don't have set days that I work nor do I have a set 'shift' that I work. Sometimes I may work night shift over the weekend and other weekends I might be free. It's not uncommon for me to work both day and night shifts in the course of the same week. This means that you're likely to see posts from me at all sorts of odd hours, as I have to take advantage of my free time where I can.
Posting style: I sometimes like to be silly as a GM and may occasionally slip in references to real-world things and/or break the fourth wall. Most folks don't seem to mind this (provided it doesn't go overboard) but I know that others prefer a more serious experience. Hopefully that won't be an issue for anyone?

![]() |

Very honored to play at your table Ladile :)
Player Name: Daniel
Character Name: Arbiscar
Class/Level: Warpriest 3
PFS# (include character dash): 134452-5
Faction: Silver crusade
Day Job Roll: Heal (temple vanity): 10 + 7 = 17
I had no opportunity to play Arbiscar in the las year and a half, but I hope to get up to date quick.
He is an Abadar follower, able melee combatant and capable healer.

![]() |

I signed up when I heard you were worried about being a little green for GM duties, so no worries here.
Given what everyone seems to be bringing, I thought I would bring Leepo here, with her sidekick Screech.
Also, in full disclosure, I am running this now for Session 1, and just got added to run a table in session 2 as well... So I am quite familiar with the material, but will endeavor to separate character knowledge from personal knowledge.

GM Ladile |

Welcome Arbiscar and Leepo (and Screech)! Thanks for the vote of confidence from both of you and so noted on the GMing, Leepo. As I said to Thrawn, I'm a pretty trusting sort so I trust you guys to keep personal and character knowledge separate.
Once we're about a week out from starting I'll open the thread for introductions and a bit of role play before we officially get started on the 6th :)

![]() |

Oh, it looks like I completely forgot to answer you, GM Ladile.
No probs for me about you being a green GM, of course. You seem very well prepared! Thus, I completely trust you on this ;)
About Esh's quibble: I'm okay with retcon as it's usually the best option on PbP. I'll however try when I can to post my immediate action under a spoiler (like I do with my ready actions), writing the condition for the action to be used, if you're okay with it. I'll do this with Esh's "Parry and Riposte", for instance, like this:
Esh yells "Aha! You won't get me with these silly words of yours!" while raising his left eyebrow, frowning with the right one, which clearly isn't wrong.
'Parry' argument (immediate): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
If parry is successful, 'Riposte' with counterargument: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
for +1 Rapier: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Are you good with it? Oh! And also...
I absolutely love it and do this a lot myself as a GM ^^

GM Ladile |

^That actually works well; when I'm a player I try add little qualifiers like that in my combat posts. 'If X happens, then my character does Y but if Z happens then my character will do T' - that sort of thing :)

![]() |

Checking in. Haven't been playing much PFS lately and Dekion here has been collecting dust since PBP Gameday 5 so I need to clean up his sheet which I'll do before we get started. Just wanted to let you know I'm here. Thanks for running this. I don't get to play in cons so events like these are the only time I get to play the multi-table games.
After previewing my post it also appears that I'm resistant to using commas and like run-on sentences.

GM Ladile |

Welcome and no problem, I'm happy to run! Definitely looking forward to getting started in a few weeks :)

GM Ladile |

It might take a little time for people to hop on and see this since it's still technically the weekend but we'll get him sorted out before Session 2 starts :)

GM Ladile |

*nudge*
Hey folks, just echoing BGIB's question - does anyone here at this table happen to have a 5-6 character and would be willing to swap spots with the 4th level player currently signed up for GM Fuzzfoot's table? If you don't have a character available in that tier than that's okay, I'm mainly just wanting to hear Yea or Nay right now. Thanks! :)

![]() |

I can do it if no one else is able to.

![]() |

I could as well, but I'd prefer to play this character. However, Bigguyinblack, I scrolled through Fuzzfoot's thread and saw no trace of said kineticist. Did he check in?

![]() |

Nope, not yet. (GM Fuzzfoot here) I just PM'd all six of mine, as only 2 have checked in yet. But looking at the kineticist account, I don't know that he will show. He has only 2 aliases and no posts. I don't know if he will even get the PM, and I have no other contact info for him. (or her - I can't even tell that)
For now, I say let's let it be, and if they check in, we can see about a swap if we think it is needed. I would rather let Zinou play the character he wants.

![]() |

Katswiri is my highest level PFS character, so I won't be able to help with the table switch.

GM Ladile |

Sounds like a plan to me, Fuzzfoot! We'll cross that bridge when and if we come to it because yes, I'd rather everyone get to play the character they really want to play for this :)

GM Ladile |

In other news, Venture-Lieutenant Hmm has a contest thread going for her extra Legacy Race Boon for Starfinder Society! If Starfinder is your jam and you've been sad about not having elves/dwarves/gnomes/halflings/etc. available from the get-go then I suggest checking it out :)

GM Ladile |

We officially start a week from today! I aim to open up Gameplay over the weekend to allow people to start doing a little RP and getting into character. Once I do, I'll send out a PM to everyone to make sure they're aware since sometimes Campaigns quit showing new posts in Gameplay for some reason...

GM Ladile |

Okay folks, first Gameplay posts are up! For the time being, please feel free to jump in and introduce yourselves as well as maybe share a little about something your character has participated in during the Torchbearing :)

![]() |

Esh's sheet is now updated and ready to roll :)

GM Ladile |

Excellent! I expect we'll start seeing some of the others checking in either later tonight or tomorrow, what with it being a weekend and all :)

GM Ladile |

Heard from Katswiri's player; they should be jumping in within the next day or two! Everyone else that's not already checked in or began posting in Gameplay has a PM in their inbox so that they're aware that we're doing some posting now :)

GM Ladile |

No worries, we've still got a few days! Wasn't meaning to sound like I'm trying to rush people :)

★★★OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT★★★
Your table starts with one of the aid tokens, which your GM will explain. Please make sure to pass the token before finishing the first encounter. The quicker we pass them, the more times they will get used, and the better off all of the tables will be.
@Table GMs: The rules for aid tokens are on page 5.

GM Ladile |

Nice! For those unfamiliar with how Aid Tokens in a special works, this is how it goes:
During the event, it is possible for characters at one table to assist those at another with Aid Tokens. Each represents the assistance of allied Pathfinder agents who assist the PCs.
Once per encounter, any character at a table can use an Aid Token to assist the group in one of the ways described below. Once a table uses an Aid Token, one of the players then passes the Aid Token to a neighboring table for them to use. A table can only benefit from one token per encounter. Because there are a limited number of Aid Tokens, hoarding one means that somebody else doesn’t get to use it.
If a table receives an Aid Token and doesn’t need its benefits, they’re encouraged to boost its potency by expending some of their own resources or attempting a skill check. Boosting an Aid Token, including attempting a skill check, is part of passing that Aid Token to another table. A table can neither retry such a skill check nor boost an Aid Token more than once before passing it to another table. A table may boost a token even while in combat without taking any in-round actions; the scenario assumes the aid was granted before that encounter began. Using a boosted effect consumes the boost.
Some Aid Token benefits may only be used if already boosted by another table. An Aid Token’s benefits vary based on the table’s subtier, and these benefits can take one of the following forms:
Allied Offensive: A Pathfinder agent strikes a creature at the same time as the PC, increasing the damage dealt by one attack by 1d8 points. In addition, after the attack, anyone attacking the target is considered to be flanking it until the beginning of the attacker’s next turn. To Boost: Succeed at an attack roll against an AC equal to an Average skill check. Boosted Effect: +1d8 points of damage.
Burst of Healing: A Pathfinder agent heals all of the PCs of 1d6 points of damage. To Boost: Expend one use of channel positive energy or cast one spell with the healing descriptor with a spell level greater than or equal to your APL/2, rounded up. A PC must cast this spell, not simply activate a wand or scroll. Boosted Effect: +2d6 points of damage healed.
Timely Inspiration: A Pathfinder agent provides the effects of a bard’s inspire courage bardic performance for 3 rounds. In Subtiers 1–2 and 3–4, the competence bonus is +1. To Boost: Expend 3 rounds of bardic performance or similar ability. Boosted Effect: Increase the competence bonus by 1.
Provide Knowledge (must be boosted): Gain the benefits of a Knowledge skill check or Spellcraft skill check used to identify a magical item; the type and difficulty (Easy, Average or Hard) depend on the table granting the benefit. To Boost: Succeed at a Knowledge check of your choice, the result of the check (Easy, Average or Hard) should be noted on the Aid Token.
Provide Spellcasting (must be boosted): Gain the benefits of a beneficial spell cast by an ally as listed on the Aid Token. To Boost: Cast one of the following spells and note your PC’s name and caster level on the Aid Token: lesser restoration, neutralize poison, remove curse, or remove disease. Only these spells may be granted. Expending resources that produce the effects of these spells, such as a paladin’s mercy class feature, may also grant these benefits.
______
Simple, right? No seriously, it's thankfully not that complicated! When we reach our first actual encounter, I'll crack the whip gently remind you that we have an Aid Token and that it should be used sooner rather than later so more tables get to feel the love! For ease of access, all of the information regarding Aid Tokens is also available under the spoiler at the top of the Campaign page.
Also, per the Overseer announcement in the main thread we are starting to get underway! :)

![]() |

How does the Provide Knowledge part work, exactly? Do we choose a knowledge skill to make a check, then there are increasing DCs to hit to allow someone to pass an easy, medium or hard check with the result?

GM Ladile |

To the best of my knowledge and understanding, the table/party would pick a Knowledge skill (or Spellcraft) and someone would roll a check with that skill. The result would then determine the boost level (Easy, Average, Hard) of the token that gets passed along. However, you can only try the boost one time; there's no rolling multiple checks to boost from Easy to Average to Hard and then passing the token.
Does that help? :)
______
On another note, whenever each of you have a chance I'd greatly appreciate it if you could lay out some simple 'Bot Me' instructions on your character profile somewhere. This will help me out quite a bit should something come up and I find myself needing to run your character for a bit during an encounter!
Also, if you've never played in a PbP special before, you'll find that they tend to require more intensive posting than your average PbP - from GMs and players alike. I will be doing my best to keep us moving along at a decent clip but please bear with me as my work schedule is often wonky as well as long (10 hours); night shifts usually afford me some time to post but when I work day shifts you're unlikely to see anything much from me until I get home.
If you've got anything going on that might be cause for you to have to slow down on your own posting for a time (such as Dekion's player being busy with work and I've also heard from Arbiscar on a matter) then please let me know either here or via PM. Real life always comes first, but a little heads-up at some point will help me to (A) not worry and (B) adjust to keep the game moving along for the rest of the players. Thanks! :)

GM Ladile |

Howdy folks! As an FYI, I will be away from my computer all day tomorrow and thus the generous Man Behind The Curtain will step in to keep things moving along while I'm AFK. I'll post what I can from work tonight if I get the chance and then will hand the reigns over to him tomorrow morning. Fear not though, for I will be back on Sunday! :D

GM Ladile |

Aaaaand I'm home early than expected and so I figured I'd go ahead and update! Thank you for monitoring the game, TMBTC, and being ready to jump in :)

GM Ladile |

As always, I hope everyone is enjoying themselves and that things haven't felt too rushed or too confusing thus far. If there's any question about things, please feel free to ask here or shoot me a PM if you'd rather talk privately :)

GM Ladile |

Unfortunately, Arbiscar's readied action doesn't trigger vs. the Blue Banner as it's attacking via reach. I even checked to see if it made difference since the banner isn't using a weapon but what amounts to a natural attack but based on this thread it looks like you'd need a feat to be able to ready to attack a creature coming at you with reach attacks :\

GM Ladile |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Alrighty folks, I'll be working day shift for the next three days so barring possible quick combat updates on lunch breaks my posting will happen in the evenings (CST or -6 GMT) during that time :)

![]() |

So, what would we like to use our Aid Token on? I feel like we should try to keep them moving, if we can. If there are injuries from the fight, we could use it for healing up afterwards, especially if multiple people are injured. Otherwise, I think we should probably look at boosting it with an attack roll or knowledge check and passing it on, since those don't require resource expenditure on our part. Katswiri could do a +12 knowledge:planes or a +13 knowledge:history; I suspect the planes is more likely to be useful to someone. Does anyone have any other ideas on what we should do with our token? If we want to do an attack boost, who has the best attack roll?

![]() |

On other specials, I liked to use them for healing. I say we keep it until the end of the fight and see if we need it afterwards. If we don't, let's use it on healing in the middle of the fight (since we post fast) and heal ourselves.

![]() |

If we have multiple people who need healing after this encounter, I'd say use it for that. Otherwise I think we need to try to boost it and pass it on. The only thing I could do would be to boost for Allied Offensive but I don't know what the AC of an average skill check is.

GM Ladile |

In order to boost a token for Provide Knowledge someone will need to pick a Knowledge skill, declare which difficulty they're aiming to hit (Easy, Average, Hard) and then make the roll. Same goes for boosting via Allied Offensive except your target is equal to an Average DC. Unfortunately, I can't share what the target DCs are so you'll have to roll and hope for the best.

![]() |

Katswiri will attempt a hard Knowledge:Planes check, unless there are any objections? We can get Aid Another attempts, like any skill check, right?
Knowledge:Planes: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
