That works and thanks for being understanding, JZ! Everyone's comfort zones are different and so I'm glad folks feel comfortable enough to speak up about potential issues and have the sense to mention/ask about it ahead of time to avoid said potential issues :)
GM Ladile
Yes, of course! I look forward to seeing your character (and everyone else's) since it'll definitely be a change of pace for you :)

I get the concerns and hear them loud and clear :)
I gravitate toward pretty standard CG hero-types and want to put myself out of my comfort zone. So I'll scrap any mysoginism and replace it with just an air of general curmudgeonly dickishness/unintentionally funny brute in the Drax vein.
I appreciate that, cheers.
I tend to play straight-up heroes and am currently having fun with an upper-class character on the make. I have some familiarity with the off-hand arrogance of the entitled and titled, so I tried not to play her as broadly as some aristocratic characters I have seen.
Still, there was a very awkward moment when her total disregard for an NPCs opinions or emotions made the whole game very chilly. It was also fun how she spun the adventure afterwards as 'my adventure, plus some frightfully helpful chaps'.
I'm trying to use those bits of pushback for character growth so she can shift from N to G.

It turns out that I will have unexpectedly limited Internet access from the 9th of October till the 13th. I should still be able to post once a day for this game, but I cannot make any guarantees and will understand if you would prefer to find someone who will be able to start the game more strongly.
Kronas Kronglic

Excellent! I was really hoping you'd say that :)
Kara Giantbane
|
A couple of you have already given me some idea of how your characters function in a mechanical sense, but I'll go ahead and ask that everyone please let me know if your character has a specialty or a cool thing they tend to do in combat - for example, in my first game I had one player who did mounted combat and another was a combat maneuver dude. This gives me some extra time to read up on anything that I'm not especially familiar with :)
I think my bot spoiler covers it all, repeated here for your convenience (excluding the preformated dice rolls)
Kara prefers to find from a distance, using her trusted crossbow. She reloads her crossbow as a move action. Reloading does not provoke if she has at least 1 grit. She does not have precise shot (yet) and will maneuver to get the best shot without taking cover penalties.
If there is a situation in which she can not take a 5 foot step to a place where she can safely shoot without provoking she will use her waraxe or switch to morningstar if the opponent has DR vs piercing
If Kara is at full grit she will expend one use of grit to shoot her next bolt vs touch AC. She will expend other grit points if opponents are very well armored and her party members have a hard time hitting. I won't mind if she expends all her grit in one combat, feel free to use it
Kara regains one grit point in the following situations:
- confirm a critical hit with crossbow
- killing blow with crossbow
in both situations the opponent must have at least 1 hit die and not be helpless or unaware of Kara.
Kara has expendables, but is not quick to hand them out. She expects that everyone should be able to fend for themselves. If the need is obvious she will share, lecturing the party member in question that he should be better prepared next time.
Kara normally uses cold iron bolts, but switches to silver and adamantine if someone says that that it better against the current target or she experiences that her bolts do not work as good as expected. She tries to retrieve all her missed bolts.
Also, this scenario can be ran to play up the creepy factor or it can be done in a manner that's a little more silly and light-hearted. Any preferences?
No preference, although Kara isn't funny, so she probably will stick out in a silly play-through. But I wouldn't mind that.

@Kronas - Of course! Sounds like we'll need Kronas to balance out the dourness/seriousness that is Kara and JamZilla's character ;)
@Kara - Thank you! And noted on the silly vs. serious thing. I'll probably try to play this one in a more serious tone since I want to see how well I can actually write/'do' creepy stuff :)
In other news, Venture-Lieutenant Hmm has a contest thread going for her extra Legacy Race Boon for Starfinder Society! If Starfinder is your jam and you've been sad about not having elves/dwarves/gnomes/halflings/etc. available from the get-go then I suggest checking it out :)

We officially start a week from today! I aim to open up Gameplay over the weekend to allow people to start doing a little RP and getting into character. Once I do, I'll send out a PM to everyone to make sure they're aware since sometimes Campaigns quit showing new posts in Gameplay for some reason...

woop woop!
GM Ladile
Aaaand there's our 6th :D
It looks like the party so far is:
Witch 3
Unchained Monk 1
Bard 2
Ranger 1
Fighter 1/Gunslinger 1
Seems like the group has a little bit of everything already so I'd say you should be good to play whichever one strikes your fancy the most!
GM Ladile
Okay! So the first sorta-introductory post is up! Feel free to jump in as it suits you and chat a bit and introduce yourselves to each other. JZ, don't worry if you don't quite have all of the nuts and bolts of your character done yet; you're still free to jump in now and start posting as you finish up character creation :)

Hey guys, JZ here with White Feather (just White to his friends) Unchained, mobile-striking monk.
Long travelled, Shelyn-worshipping devotee of all things beautiful in this world. Helping the society free the oppressed, recover lost art and knowledge and spread beauty to the darkest corners of the world.
GM Ladile
Another Shelynite? Excellent! Hopefully you two will have some extra special fun with this :3
GM Ladile
Sounds good, JZ! Completing the questionnaire is entirely optional but if anyone would like to do it in order to get a better handle on who their character is then I heartily endorse doing so :)

It's always fun to have a bit of time at the start for everyone to say hello to each other :)
GM Ladile
Yes, exactly! It's always neat to see what kind of group chemistry begins to develop (or if it develops at all).
Also, a thought: I know I said we'd start on Friday but since everyone seems to be here would you guys want to start a day or two early? It won't hurt anything to do so, so no worries about the Gameday Police coming to get us if we do :)
I've got a few things to do over the next few hours but then I should have the rest of my afternoon/night available for posting. If I get enough people who want to start early (say, maybe at least half of you) then I'll go ahead and get us started for real either later tonight or tomorrow afternoon before I head to work!
Kronas Kronglic
|
I'm up for an early start :)
GM Ladile
No worries Kara, I'll be running a table for the second happening of the special so I understand completely! Just post as you're able and it'll all be good :)
And alrighty! At least half of you are good with starting early so give me a bit and I'll officially kick us off a bit later tonight :)
GM Ladile
Hey-ho guys, I just got home from work and need to get to bed as I have a wedding to attend later this evening. I'll do my best to squeeze in an update before I leave later but if not, it'll likely be tomorrow before I can move us forward. In the meantime, I hope everyone has a great weekend :)
Kronas Kronglic
|
No worries Ladile, have a great time!
GM Ladile
Thanks for the vote of confidence, guys! The wedding was lovely and as you can see, I got home early enough last night to get a post up for you all. I'm about to head out in a bit for a late lunch/early dinner but I'll get another post up for you once I return :)

Howdy folks, this is just a note to let y'all know that my period of limited internet has officially begun. I'll try to post as much as possible, but it's likely to be sporadic at best.
P.S. I love that this is an autumnal scenario! :)
GM Ladile
Thanks for the update, Kronas! And thanks for the 'Bot Me' spoiler on your profile; hopefully I won't have to make too much use of it but I appreciate that it's there :)
GM Ladile
Alrighty folks, I'll be working day shift for the next three days so barring possible quick RP (or combat) updates on lunch breaks my posting will happen in the evenings (CST or -6 GMT) during that time :)
GM Ladile
Sorry about the lack of updates yesterday; had started to poop out by the time I was able to start composing for this game and decided that I'd give a better performance after getting some sleep!
I'll give things just a little longer for you guys to chat and for what Seldiir is up to and then I'll move the plot along a bit :)

Yay, I have my internet back! I should be able to post normally from now on :)
GM Ladile
Off to work, will hopefully be able to update later if things are slow. Otherwise I'll update once I get home in the morning :)
GM Ladile
Sorry for no posts last night or this morning guys; work was really rough last night and I just wanted to come home and sleep. It may take me a bit to get around to responding to everyone again tonight - it's my parents' 50th wedding anniversary today and I'm going to go pay them a visit shortly - but I should have some new posts up by/before tomorrow morning. Thanks for your patience and I love all the RP I'm seeing; definitely a needed mood-lifter after yesterday :)

No worries, and yes, congratulations to your parents!
