There aren't many classes you can qualify for with just Intimidate and Combat at Novice or above. The only one I'm seeing is Berserker, which, while rather interesting and cool, is also rather reliant on getting yourself into dangerous situations. Very determinator style of never backing down, might work for you if you want your character to be thuggish.
If you swapped Skill Enhancement out to get Novice Athletics, you can qualify for Roughneck as well which focuses on being intimidating while providing some defense to supplement Berserker's HP. The concept of taking things made me think Rogue would fit conceptually, but it requires two of Acrobatics, Athletics or Stealth to qualify, and is Attack based.
Err, it looks like Gilthanis has Novice Athletics on his character-in-progress.
I've also noticed more than half the characters proposed appear to focus on Intimidate. Am I missing something? Because it seems to me like the least useful of the social skills.

Honedge would be an amazing starter if it was allowed. I need to read up a lot on this though.
Eddard, there's a Chemist feat called "playing god" that allows you to create certain normal, poison, and electric pokemon. Since chemistry isn't as much of a thing here, it might be possible to reflavor this class ability into a sort of occult/magical armorer who summons pokemon spirits into objects, replacing grimer, koffing, and trubbish with, say, rotom, honedge, and haunted armor golett. This would work well for a character who focused on being a metalsmith/artificer/summoner of some sort, but would also take a few trainer levels to accomplish, keeping the ghosts from showing up too early. (This is just brainstorming; how and when you'd get a Honedge is entirely a GM call, but the pokemon wishlist exists for a reason, and if trainers want specific pokemon there's other ways to get them eventually—the world being what it is, if it's not too rare a pokemon you might even be able to buy one as an egg)

My character in progress, first timer to this format, so errors aree to be expected :)
Tried to be a rogue, and balance out my skills. If there is anything wrong, please let me know :)
I was wondering if I could have either a Timburr or Machop as a starting Pokemon?
You get a Training feat for free, so you still have one more feat to spend.
Also, you may want to be careful about lowering Guile as a rogue; if you're thinking about being the sneaky character (and with your urchin background), Guile is essentially Bluff + Gather Information (and certain uses of Knowledge local) and covers your ability to blend into a crowd, obtain things on the black market, and ingratiate yourself with the disreputable.

Just so you know, Warlord, I've been cooking up an Apparition/Hex Maniac disabler specializing in ghost types (with Cubone as a starter), if we want to avoid duplicating submissions too much. He's going to eventuallty Type Sync his Pokémon into Ghost types as the dead ghosts of his former team possess them.
He will be an Attack focused combat specialist who fights himself using various ghost typed moves.
I've had very little internet access since I'm moving but I'll have a submission up soon with some more detail.

If everything went well, this should be my submission for our party.
He's a Chef, Researcher (Botany and Caretaking) and Survivalist, providing the buffs and healing through food and the start-up resources eventually for the outpost. Possibly even running the daycare when we're all set up.
If there's anything I missed feel free to comment and say so. Also might be dropping Survivalist to perhaps grab more Cooking. Breeder and type 2 berries will be something to work towards.

Fluff is still in the works, but basically:
Eduard's dream was to be a master Pokémon collector, but when he first left his village to catch Pokémon in the woods, he fell in love and never left the place, becoming a sort of Ranger-Catcher hybrid.
He is now traveling with his companion, a Treecko named Up - one of the simplest words Eduard could remember from his time as a member of civilization, and a word that perfectly describes the Pokémon's climbing capabilities.
thunderbeard
Hey guys! Looks good, but don't forget to double-check base stat relations on starters.
@Rocan/Yarek: Your single-point investment in Attack can't actually go higher than Speed. (If you are planning on investing in attack for better tackles, that's pretty reasonable because you redistribute points when he evolves at level 8).
@Dodo/Eduard: You need to have points invested in a ranking that's the same as your highest-to-lowest ranking of base stats. I.E. Up's points in SAtk > Speed > SpDef > Atk > HP > Def. If you do want to invest more in defenses, your best options are probably the Enduring Soul class, the Mixed Sweeper PokéEdge (which you can take for him, as level 5 pokemon have two tutor points), or changing nature to Modest (+SAtk -Atk)

So... he doesn't speak? That seems like it would make party dynamics awkward.

It has been a very long time since I've played PTU but I've been very much into the idea of basing teams around ideas that are, quite frankly, not at all viable in the handheld and conceptually not done at all.
First thing; I love the fairy type. Not the Jigglypuffs or the Slurpuffs. I love the Gardevoirs and the Mawiles. When I think of fairies, I think of the fey. Nice on the outside and sinister when you look at them the appropriate way.
That said, I really want to blend the dark and ghost types with fairies. Best way I imagine to do that is be a Type Ace and make a team of dark/fairies and ghost/fairies.
More on the concept as time goes on but I thought I'd throw an idea out there in the mean time.
I'd be considering Zorua or maybe Ralts for a starter. I'm undecided.

So, I was looking at the Juggler, and was wondering if Rogue would be a good synergy with it? I was thinking of playing a Trainer who uses the Rogue's trickiness, along with the Juggler to have the mentality of "the right pokemon for the right job."
Background:
Made too many mistakes in family circus troupe. He ran away to start a new life. His Pokemon protected him as he is physical weak.
My staring pokemon (presuming allowed) is Gilgar, with the Egg Move of Wing Attack. This way I would have Flying Attacks, and Posion typed attacks, and a ground attack to blind for a turn?
Is this even feasible, or am I getting over my head? A few posts up, there is a link to my sheet, which should be up-to-date with my build. Any thoughts from more experienced PTU ppl are welcome
Pokemon I would like to get eventually are Alakazam,
Zamrok
I think i may have to bow out for now. even with the long weekend i never really got the chance to look the system over much more than i initially did. but i'm bound and determined to play this at some point at home! Maybe if a player drops and you need someone down the line... ^^ Thanks for showing the game!

Just popping in to let you all know I'm still here. Looks like most of the submissions are coming together nicely. Many thanks to you all for helping each other out, it takes some of the question load off of me while I continue to prep. I do plan to end recruitment soon, but I want to make sure everyone's had a chance to properly submit their character. Thanks again for the interest and hard work learning a new system, everyone.

Alright, my mechanics are done. I still need to work out the fluff; that'll be up tomorrow. Until then, here's the character sheet. I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could take a look and tell me what I'm doing wrong and what I could be doing better.
As a side note, I had considered Deino as a starter (mostly because he looks endearingly like 2Dee from The Gorillaz) but noticed his stats were higher than most other starters. Thoughts?
Rocan
@Whiskey and a Bonesaw
I think you still have the choice available from taking the Dancer feature. Spinning Dance or Own Tempo, as I didn't see that on your sheet.
I'm also wondering why your own combat is at pathetic level, if you're a swordlord in training I wouldn't assume that to be the case. Though if it is, it might be a very good reason why you're joining the expedition and a nice touch for your background.
In that case, might I suggest your background description change to Swordlord Apprentice or something similar to reflect that.
thunderbeard
@Whiskey—checks out at my first glance (except for what Rocan already mentioned). If you want a starter that can learn dragon dance though (I don't know if you're looking for a particular theme—it's fine not to), there's also a lot of dragon-types that *might* be of appropriate power level to work as starters (Axew—which has cool knight-like armor, Horsea, Swablu, Magikarp—which could actually fight okay with its egg move, Charmander or Totodile—with Egg Move Dragon Dance)
Deino is probably a little OP as a pseudo-legendary; the players' guide recommends nothing that rare, though starters are always a GM call.
Also, in the medieval supplement, dragon-type tends to get associated with royalty or nobility (and the "color" of dragon type in pokemon games just happens to be royal purple); if you're looking for background inspiration, being a royal bastard or younger child of a noble house are excellent options in the Kingmaker player's guide.
Hat-Trick
I wouldn't worry too much about only having one Class. You can always add more later. One thing I would suggest to help your performance at level one, though, is replacing Quick Switch with something else until you have more pokemon to take advantage of it. As it is, you only have your starter now and you'll get more bang with another choice.
Whiskey and a Bonesaw
@Rocan and thunderbeard
Thank you for the help! I did take Spinning Dance; it's under 'Abilities' in the 'Combat' tab. The character was originally envisioned as an Aldori Swordlord; that got kicked in the head about halfway through but I forgot to change the name. His current background is Isgeri minor nobility. I'm also not sure what the advantage of a high combat is, since all it seems to affect are struggle and weapon attacks.
I figured Deino would be a problem, thanks for the alternate list! I'll take a look through them and pick one; I'm currently leaning towards a heavy-hitter to synergize with After You. Probably won't pick Magikarp, if only because I don't think I could resist the temptation to name him 'Mister Fish'.
Background will be finished once I'm out of class.
thunderbeard
I have to say this system is fiendish. My starter is set up perfectly in my opinion but I feel like my character is way bellow everyone else's. Everyone has two or three classes and I got one. :P other than that it seems fun.
You can only have a max of four classes. But "class" just means "start of a feat tree"; more investment in one class is supposed to be as good as taking several, it just focuses your role.
As for starter power—your Lilligant's on the fast end of submitted starters, and should be an effective sweeper with its powerful STAB tackles; plus, ice fang should be a really valuable coverage move against anything flying, and its Effect is nasty. Don't forget a Basic Ability, though; Vital Spirit and Pickup are both really good.

Don't forget to check with the GM. I just searched the Pokedex for "Dragon Dance" and ruled out anything legendary, mythic, or pseudo-legendary.
As for the Combat stat—it's for weapon attacks (and trips, and grapples—your basic fighter stuff). If you want to be a person who fights with a weapon (like, say, a Swordlord), it's pretty valuable, but that's about it.
Gilthanis
Evee just because I have always like it. Abra line because I plan on going Juggler at some point so Teleport and other telekinetic powers could be useful.
I plan on going through the pokédex more to create a "theme" possibly.
----
GM ruling please:
Does using curve ball count as a weapon attack? Essentially I want to know if I could pair curve ball and dirty trick together?
Xan Nes
Alright fixed my feature and loaded up my Lillipup with Pickup, because it seems to fit the immage I have. Ice Fang was awesome because of covering Dragon, flying, and I think ground.
Honestly I want to stick with animal based Pokemon for a theme while avoiding the more farm ones.
So I just noticed that the Game of Throhs supplement is allowed and now have figured out how I want my character to progress, and it works.

I don't think you need the GM to answer this. Weapon attacks in PTU means either a Struggle attack that is modified by a weapon, a weapon move, or a move gained by a feature that explicitly states it can be used as a weapon attack. Curve Ball is none of these things.

Question regarding Stat Ace:
Prerequisites: Ace Trainer or Style Expert, 1 Pokémon with the chosen stat of 15 or more, Novice Command or Focus
Prerequisites: 3 Pokémon with the chosen stat at 20 or higher, Novice Command or Focus
Do I have to meet both or just one? Can my starter Pokémon, if I raise its stat high enough, allow me to qualify for Stat Ace right out the gate or do I have to wait to gain levels?
Thanks for any and all help. I will re-work my guy a bit since the pokeball / dirty trick idea won't work, lol.

Alright, I've put together a list of all the submitted characters so far. Let me know if I've missed anyone, this was mostly just a quick sweep through the thread for links.
Doctor Leon Agathis
Faraday Heartsong
Greg Owilder
Chase
Yarek Ovitz
Eduard Grosswald
Sonia Steinhardt

Edited My character one last time. I figure that my character would fit in with the Skirmisher class due to his living in the wilds and updated it to that. Switched out my feature in question for that and switch athletics to acrobatics in my background. I grabbed the Vanguard ability and think it fits a bit better with my idea.
Whiskey and a Bonesaw
Me myself and I need to go on the list. Sheet found here; I need to shift my starter over to Axew.
Edit: Starter fixed!

Another thought of theory-crafting.
Ace Trainer + Capture Specialist + Stat Ace.
Ace trainer to ignore HP relation, Stat Ace to ignore Def stat relation, Capture Specialist to gain capture techniques. Dimitri is not a physical specimen. He wants to collect pokémon that he can help train to be stalwarts and be able to withstand anything (Spec Def + Def).
Conceptually, he is the opposite of Chase :)

I think both would be fun to play, but I wanna try Dimitri over Chase. I just used another sheet as I wanted to make sure that if I didn't get dimitri done to the way I wanted I still had Chase statted up.
