Does anyone here have mage armor on their class' spell list, or able to make a UMD DC 20 relatively easy? I have a wand of mage armor, but not a very high UMD yet.

since we know it's hear somewhere, Kavakii will help Alanya systematically serch for the correct grate
"He DID say there was a loose grate here somewhere, right?"
aid search: 1d20 ⇒ 17
StephNyan
Branson sees the loose grate (Perception 31 when taking 20) and points it out to the others. "Up here guys!"
He climbs up to the grate Fillian also used. Two of the bolts are missing, and the grate swings upward easily. The others easily reach the loose grate as well, and enter the belfry.
You find yourselves 10 feet above the base of the lowermost bell and a further 5 feet above the solid platform below. You will have to safely negotiate the scaffolding to reach the platform below.
Climb checks are required to reach the platform below. You can't take 10 in this location.

Branson will strap his shield over his back and cast guidance on himself before trying the climb.
Climb: 1d20 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) - 2 + 1 = 3
Turns out the shield wasn't the problem!

you need climb or acrobatics? Once again, I'm happy to secure the knotted rope here until everyone is safely down, then untie it and climb down unassisted?
climb: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
StephNyan
@Kavaki: It's climb, not acrobatics. You may do what you suggest, but of course you'd first have to climb back up.
Kavaki, Chyras and Alanya make it to the platform below. Branson has some problems, and doesn't even cross half the distance. Traceni's watching the others climb down.
@Branson: Luckily you don't fall down! Roll another roll to see if you make it to the platform this time :)
StephNyan
Branson's second attempt to climb down may make the others wonder what caused the trouble the first time, as he now easily climbs down. Traceni also joins the others on the platform below.
Branson: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Chyras: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13
Kavaki: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Traceni: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Once everyone's descended you start moving, but suddenly hear a click when you step onto a trap. All four sections of bells in the belfry begin to peal, sending off a signal of your arrival throughout the entire cathedral.
Branson: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Chyras: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Kavaki: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Traceni: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
The ringing of the bells is incredible loud, leaving most of you deafened for several minutes.
Amount of minutes deafened (Alanya): 1d4 ⇒ 1
Amount of minutes deafened (Branson): 1d4 ⇒ 1
Amount of minutes deafened (Kavaki): 1d4 ⇒ 1
Amount of minutes deafened (Traceni): 1d4 ⇒ 3
Chyras, did I get Alanya's Fort save correct? There was something on good or bad saves in her profile, and Fort = good = 2? It wasn't entirely clear to me.
The trap door on the belfry’s platform leads to a narrow wooden staircase descending the dome’s interior and opening onto the dome’s viewing gallery (marked with a red circle on the map).
Along the dome’s ceiling, a fresco depicts Aroden’s apotheosis and his famed battle with the wizard-king Tar Baphon on the Isle of Terror. Although intricate, the fresco’s crumbling perimeter and fading colors betray the lack of recent maintenance. A narrow wooden balcony, lined by a finely carved balustrade, encircles the dome’s base and the cathedral’s nave. The balusters depict men following several different professions, while fine calligraphy graces the top railing.
Forty feet below, an enormous altar—itself the size of a small building—stands stoutly below the dome’s apex. The cathedral’s nave stretches out to the south. Soft blue light streams into the enormous space through dozens of meticulously decorated stained-glass windows lining the nave. They illuminate trophies of all sorts—from weapons to wands—hung from the hall’s many columns.
Signs of last night’s gala and the massacre that interrupted it are obvious: freshly painted sunburst decorations, tables swathed in fine cloth covered with spoiled food, a portable stage standing empty but bloodstained, and corpses littering the floor below.
You follow the gallery till you arrive at an ornate choir loft that sits twenty feet above the ground, joined to the narrow balcony encircling the nave and dome. The richly decorated wall panels depict scenes of strangely dressed men, while the low marble balustrade shows human figures celebrating. Many of these scenes have suffered recent damage, with stone shards and a broken bannister littering the floor. Several smashed glass cases line the room, numerous swords of widely varying styles and construction poking out of them.
Along the Cathedral’s south wall, a ten-foot-wide rose window glitters with the sun, bathing the loft in light. A number of red figures surround a strange white shape against the window’s blue background.
A spiral staircase leads down and a pair of doors lead east and west.
We have an actual map now! Click on "Shadow's" below my name to view it. Please read this post in the discussion thread if you don't know how Ditzie works.

Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
"It is quite odd that the figures in that window appear to be lowering the Starstone, and not raising it. One would expect it to be the reverse."
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
"Additionally there are numerous cracks around this window and the stone frame. You see, here, and again here," he says while pointing out some cracks.
Branson will cast detect magic and give the place a once over. He'll scan the dead bodies, the walls, floors, the adornments, etc.

It now occurs to me that deafened as we are, you all might not have heard what Branson was saying. If we don't get into a fight or something in the next minute, Branson can reiterate it to people. With that said, an alarm usually means people should prepare.
Branson will move straight towards the spiral staircase, and wave at others to join him in getting to the bottom. The possibility of a fight looms in his mind.

Traceni: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Rose Window: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Branson tries to inform the others of his discoveries, but Chyras is the only one who fully gets what Branson says. After some pointing it's at least clear something is up with the rose window.
When Branson moves for the stair case something unexpected happens: the rose window moves. Luckily all the pointing earlier prevented the animated window from catching you by surprise.

to keep things moving, and because I never formally asked Chyras to use my wand of mage armor on us, Kaviki will pull a potion of shield from his bandolier and drink it.
Casting Time 1 standard action

Duration 1 min./level (D)
Shield creates an invisible shield of force that hovers in front of you. It negates magic missile attacks directed at you. The disk also provides a +4 shield bonus to AC. This bonus applies against incorporeal touch attacks, since it is a force effect. The shield has no armor check penalty or arcane spell failure chance.

Smiling broadly, Traceni, ears still ringing, strolls toward the window. Without saying a word, she pulls out a silver morningstar and waits.
Move, and draw weapon.
StephNyan
Chyras hits the rose window with a splash of acid, creating a small hole in the glass. Kavaki drinks his shield potion for extra protection against this unexpected opponent. Traceni then moves over to the window and draws her morningstar.
The window moves out of its frame and hovers slightly above the floor. It then attempts to hit Traceni with a double slam.
Slam 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Slam 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Can someone move me to the space just to Traceni's left where I would have done my failed aid attempt please. Of course, if Traceni was going to roll a 1 my aid couldn't have helped, so we're timing our bad rolls well.

@Traceni: The link changes when you hit Enter. You have to place the new link in your post, or no one's going to see your updated map. Like in Alanya's post.
