I've seen some examples of Google Docs being used for maps, and from those examples that I've seen, it looks like something I'd like to give a try. An example of it can be seen here. I'd ask that each action post include the end point on maps where they end movement (minding the application for attacks of opportunity through their entire movement), so that if anything gets garbled that the current state can be re-created.
Does anyone have any experience/opinions with this approach?
Also, since we have a few Occult Adventures Playtest characters, if you would not mind, please reference pages (at least at first) for abilities that you use, so that I and any other players can reference if we so wish. If you'd rather just have a reference post that lists what your playtest abilities are and just point back to that, I'm OK with that as well.
Lastly, a good reference for a PbP is DH's Guide to Play By Post gaming. Remember that this is a game and to have fun with it.

Yeah. Kineticist is looking like a full archer with less than half the damage potential and gets wrecked by common resistances and immunities, and their DR penetrating potential is, mathematically, only useful against opponents with 20+ DR, which isn't exactly common.

Just as a reminder, when in initiative, please feel free to post actions that will not necessarily affect other players out of sequence (such as Niles' loading the crossbow), or actions that would likely not change based based off of allies' or opponents' actions (such as shooting the creature, regardless of 100 feet or 40 feet away); please post these just to alleviate some of the natural PbP slowness.
If you explicitly are awaiting on another's action, feel free to say something out of character to indicate that your are basing your own action off of another's result, just for the sake of communication.

In order to keep the pace of this PbP, I will presume that any PC not posting within 24 hours during weekdays (or 48 hours during a weekend) while within initiative will go into Delay. When such a PC does post, I will give them the earliest initiative slot still available.
I treat GM posts essentially as committed effects of actions; you can revise as needed until the GM narrative post acknowledges given PC(s') actions, at which point their effects play out.

He would certainly speak Aquan and Common. Embarrassed to say I didn't actually stat up his languages. He'd probably have a scholarly language for his 2nd language, either Azlanti or Draconic. Since it can have relevance in this game, I've GMed this 5+ times, and I didn't pick, I'll leave it to you to decide what/if his 2nd language can apply.

I was actually thinking Aquan would be a good choice for Ob. Past that, the roll was bad enough, I think, that it wouldn't make a difference.
I was thinking that once (almost) everyone posted their rolls that I'd give some assistance in there and take the best result, since everyone could work on their own reliefs or what have you.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but the phantom can be either incorporeal and not attack or ectoplasmic and corporeal and be attacked, right? And I see back on page 2 that it was just summoned, with no mention of the incorporeal state, so I am going with the corporeal state.
If something seems incorrect about that, let me know and I'll retcon that attack back to the next creature in line (Garret).

While I'm fine with keeping initiative rolls in spoilers (in fact I do so in my own games to keep posts tidy) I think putting the initiative order in spoilers is a mistake. It adds an extra step and can easily be missed if you're quickly trying to scan up.
Here is a bit of an example of how I run combat in my PbP games...posts are separated by a "---"
Round 1
John
Paul
Skeleton 1
George
Skeleton 2
Ringo
---
John fires a blunted crossbow bolt at Skeleton 1, missing by a hair. Paul follows up with a hammer blow that nearly shatters its head! Skeleton 1 retaliates by swinging a rusty scimitar at Paul, causing a nasty gash in his arm! George may act now.
Attack rolls go here!
Round 1 update
John
Paul
Skeleton 1 (-6hp)
George
Skeleton 2
Ringo
---
George fires a force bolt at Skeleton 1, sending it crumbling to the ground. Skeleton 2 charges Paul but trips over the splintered remains of his fallen comrade. Ringo can act now to close out Round 1, then John, Paul and George are up to start Round 2. Feel free to act in any order and I will resolve in initiative order.
Attack rolls go here!
Round 1 update
John
Paul
Skeleton 1 (dead)
George
Skeleton 2
Ringo

As an added wrinkle now that the playtest window for Occult Adventures has closed most of us are, technically, playing illegal character classes. I was hoping to finish in time to have the boon signed...however I'm assuming we can finish the game since the playtest characters were legal at the time we started.

Another very simple thing is to simply have players enter delay if they've gone over 24 hours without posting. Note if only a player is ahead of you (not an NPC) you should be posting your actions, then modifying only if the earlier player negates that course of action.

I don't quite understand your question about cover GM.
This might be helpful though:
Normally when making a melee attack, to avoid cover you have to be able to draw a ling from all your corners without passing through anything.
When making a melee attack against a target that isn't adjacent to you (such as with a reach weapon), use the rules for determining cover from ranged attacks.
So I have to be able to draw a line clearly to all its corners from only 1 of mine to avoid cover.
Also
I will be out of town from Thursday 11th - Sunday the 14.
I should have at least some internet access but I'm sure my posting will be slower than normal.

You've hit both the primary and secondary success conditions at this point, and I've not seen any reason to dock any PC of gold earned; do we just want to wrap the RP up and to issue chronicle sheets? I think a nice chronicle sheet for Christmas would be a nice stocking stuffer.
I can either e-mail/PM you the chronicle sheet (plus the 'keep playing' boon for those occult playtest players) or provide you a direct link to a signed sheet here on the page. How do you guys prefer chronicle distribution?
