Hello!
So I had planned on making this character a Warpriest of one of the ancient Osirion gods. Supposedly a blog post this week should have some details about them. Technically they won't be PFS legal until the second book of Mummy's Mask comes out next month so I might temporarily make her worship someone else and then retrain her after this game. Unless the GM would be ok with me using one of those gods (assuming the blog post has enough info to make a character from-for Warpriest this mostly means favored weapon and alignment).
DM Carbide |
I think it'd be better to temporarily take a close match and retrain after the game, with the proviso that if we're still going when the second book comes out I'll see if I can let you switch then.
Shahrazad, Teller of Tales |
Yeah, that's what I was going to do anyways. I think I'll make her a Warpriest of Nethys for now. I'll probably wait until after to retrain her. Ideally I'm hoping for a god with khopesh as a favored weapon but we'll see what the selection is. Maybe I won't like any and just stick with Nethys.

Dotting. I forgot that I had pledged Frunobulax to another game so I will need to create a new character. Possibly something from the ACG.

I've got a few options for this. Quick question - is this for level 1 characters only or is it possible to play a level 2 character once?
List of characters:
Baddacus Stumps - Halfling Barbarian Titan Mauler 1
Bartleby Thimblejig - Halfling Shaman 1
Frael - Faultspawn Tiefling Maneuver Master Monk 1
Outhouse Jon - Human Brawler 2
Raavan Shiv - Oracle 1 / Skald 1

I'm actually building a paladin for this. I've wanted to try one for a while now. He'll probably be human.
DM Carbide |
It's a Tier 1-2 sanctioned module, so it's possible to play one 2nd level character through it.
DM Carbide |
What mystery is s/he?
Edit: Never mind, I see.
El Baron de los Banditos |
Not only are 2nd-level characters allowed (once), having a party of 1st levels in any 1-2 module is asking for Hard Mode, to say the least (since you're supposed to level halfway through, but don't since PFS doesn't work like that. I'll build to fill a role if Corn isn't available by this game's start time.
DM Carbide |
It's like Thornkeep--theoretically possible for a group of novices, but more likely to result in a TPK. Better to have at least one L2 character along, or at least a couple with an adventure under their belts.
Raavan Shiv |
Raavan is a good support character. He has the Flagbearer feat, which stacks with skald raging song. He also has a wand of cure light wounds and might pick up another wand if someone has a suggestion (enlarge or protection from evil maybe?).
Shahrazad, Teller of Tales |
I forgot that Shahrazad will be level 2 after tonight because I'm putting Destiny of the Sands Part II GM credit on her (since she has Part I). I also forgot that warpriests don't have to use their diety's favored weapon for their focus weapon. So I can just use a khopesh as my focus weapon now and mechanically nothing will change if I decide to convert to worshiping a different god(dess) later.
That or I can just bring someone else.
El Baron de los Banditos |
Honest Inquiry: If there's some kind of retraining or other mechanic for divine classes (and Order of the Star) characters, I'd like to know about it. Otherwise, I've yet to see a PFS-legal way to switch deities on one of the "must choose w deity" classes. Alternatively, Warpriest is probably the best way to achieve that khopesh Divine warrior of Nethys.
Shahrazad, Teller of Tales |
@Burglar: I'm honestly not sure if that's allowed or not. To be safe I should probably just play a different character. Nethys might not be a bad choice for what I want to do with her but I'm holding off because there might be a better choice when the ancient Osirion gods are released.
So I guess I'll bring something else to this game for now. I actually don't have any other level 1 characters right now but I've got a blob with 1 XP on him so I'll whip something up for that number and probably retrain him after this game into my Gen Con grippli.
Raavan Shiv |
Raavan's an oracle of lore, but his knowledge skills are not the greatest because he hasn't pumped his intelligence (it's only 12). However, since he is also a skald he has bardic knowledge, so he can attempt any knowledge skill.
Signboy77 |
I've never played an Oracle before, but I'd be willing to give it a try.
El Baron de los Banditos |
Raavan's already multiclassed...
Plus, there's that (on the idea of multiclassing.) No need for restricting too much; just the fun of just a bunch of misfits being all weird as a collective was my main goal for Oraclemania. Though now I have to resist making some kind of Macho Man-esqe person (since I can't think of a good way to work it with 3/4 bab.) I'll keep holding out on any choices to let everyone get what they want (since I've played a Fire Oracle/Rage Prophet and a Bones Oracle already.)
DM Carbide |
I'm looking forward to this.
Arnthoth Koortuskson |
I'm making Arnthoth a lunar oracle with the wolfscarred face curse. He thinks he really a werewolf. Taking the primal companion revelation for a wolf companion, though that is subject to change.
Signboy77 |
Which is best for being a support/healbot Oracle? A pacifist at heart but he keeps his friends up and fighting.
El Baron de los Banditos |
Support could be any of them, though Life Oracles are one of the best hit-point curing masters, bar none. The pacifism is more of a philosophy, though that (barring an ironic nature) precludes the Battle, and to a lesser extent Metal, mystery. Oracles are so thematically flexible that you could take a healing and pacifism mentality and get any mystery.
Side note: If Sign is going a support direction, I think I'm going to go with a Wrecker/Wolf Faced dual-cursed Sunder-Bite Battle Oracle pack mate of Tektite's (barring his disapproval.)
Signboy77 |
Yeah, I'll go support. Life Oracle. And I think I'll take the deaf curse.
Signboy77 |
She's gonna be a frail old woman that's deaf. Maybe I'll make her Aram Zey's mom. Yeah, that's it. She came to Absalom to check up on her sweet little boy and see how he's doing with his big important job with the Society. Only, he's planning to have a girl over for dinner and doesn't want mom getting in the way, so he tasks you guys with taking care of her, but then this whole Godsmouth Heresy affair breaks out and wacky adventures ensue.
El Baron de los Banditos |
Wrecker Curse would make the weapon broken, so the -2 is likely not worth it. Iean, I'll carry a longspear regardless, but that's because I'm a GOOD mammoth hunter in-training.
Also, I'll never complain about more healing, unless we have nobody who can do more than 3 damage a round reliably (which is not the case here.)
