The stony remains of a ruined edifice provide shelter from the hot winds. Rocks on a stone table hold down a crude map of the valley.

Those not looking like grains of sand lack the requisite stealth to sneak up. Its a very very high check

An orc scout spots a man riding a giant worm thing approaching and warns his superiors, “Mugek, enemy troops approaching! Just a handful, though. Want I should kill ‘em now or keep ‘em alive, so’s we can have some fun later?”.

As you approach, the orc leadership gets ready for battle. One of the savages greets you with a toothy smile and declares, “I’ve been waiting for strong opponents. Your deaths will give me honor among the Black Suns.”

He bellows, “Behold your pink-skinned foes, Mugek, son of Krun Thuul, chief of the Black Suns tribe. A great victory will impress Krun Thuul!”

Mugek commands his warriors, “Take them alive! I will present them to my father as slaves.”

Three savage creatures looking like bestial versions of a savage human, with green-gray skin and greasy black hair, stand within the ruins. Their leader wears a masterwork chain shirt and cloak and wields a lethal-looking dagger. He is also armed with a masterwork scimitar and a half dozen javelins. Slung across his body is a set of masterwork drums. A larger brute wears a chain shirt and a heavy steel shield, and she wields a chakram. A cloak hangs from her shoulders and an amulet from her neck; around her waist is a thick leather belt buckled with a bright bronze clasp in the shape of a fist; she wears a gauntlet and a ring glitters on one finger. The third creature may possess some human blood. He’s wearing half-plate and armed with a greataxe. A handful of javelins are propped up next to him. An amulet swings on a chain around his neck, and a wooden unholy symbol dangles from one wrist. There is also a massive catlike creature pacing the ruins with the lithe grace of a feline despite a shell-like armor of segmented plates. The beast must be 25 feet long from nose to tail and weigh two tons!

A conversation occurs from within the darkness, but it is in orc and no one speaks it.

Kaisharga can see through the darkness, so if Kaisharga wants to charge in and start eating orc, just move the darkness so you can see what he is doing. Just make sure to put it back in the same spot. :)

While the eidolon slows down and circles above the battlefield, Amaranti takes a small vial containing Oil of Daylight, and pours the contents on his lance. The invisible weapon starts glowing in bright light, flooding over the magical darkness.

Daylight has 60ft radius, so it should cover the darkness in the ground even if Amaranti is flying at 30ft. And also, in my understanding, Daylight works even if Amaranti himself is invisible (if not, he could have poured the oil on Kaisharga's amulet

As the last orcs perish or flee, the Twinhorns reassemble the caravan and gather the fallen. Night begins to fall, swallowing up the road and leaving the caravan stranded in a pool of torchlight. Medda stands atop the new lead wagon, blood dripping from her breastplate. She holds Ivvora’s hilt aloft and shouts, “Twinhorns! We are only two days from the stone circle and have two days until the winter solstice.” A nimbus of light begins to radiate from the hilt, illuminating the entire valley in bright light. “Abandon the wagons and carry with you what you need to survive. We must reach the circle in time, or darkness will consume us.”

The convoy may have repelled the orcs, but at an immense cost. More than half of the Twinhorn warriors lie dead, felled by orc axes and giants’ boulders. Should the Pathfinders encounter more trouble, few of their Kellid companions will be able to lend assistance.

“My Pathfinder allies, thank you for bringing us much needed support,” says Medda, the Twinhorn following’s spiritual leader. She stands beside Anok, her phantom and constant companion. “After the orc ambush sapped our supplies and strength, we pushed north to our winter home. We are only hours away from the stone circle and our encampment—if we are going to make it there by midnight, we need to press on. Once there, we will use Ivvora’s hilt to perform our time-honored ritual and keep evil from our lands.” Medda produces the small hilt of a broken weapon with only a fragment of its black metal blade remaining. “Let us move. There are dangers in these ancient woods: orc raiders, bears that topple trees, and worse. Stay in groups and don’t get lost.”

As the Kellids and Pathfinders reach the top of the hill next to the Twinhorn encampment, they notice splashes of blood and the occasional corpse dotting the landscape. Medda raises her voice, calling, “My brethren, our families are under attack! Secure the camp and drive back any who oppose you. Pathfinder allies, join us in defense of our home!” The landscape opens into a burned hillside where blackened trees stand like lifeless sentinels. A crude blockade shields the entrance to a natural cavern.
