An Enkindled Carnival

While the frog seems to take a good bite out of the tiny enemy right before it swallows it, you feel Tatiana is right, and that it may still be kicking, or stinging, in there.

Orin does not detect any other creature nearby.

Those of you up can either delay, move about, or take other actions before we see if the asura can make his way out of that summon's stomach.

COMBAT OVER!!!

Getting a chance to catch your breath as the two outsiders' corpses slowly cool, you now have time to notice a shrine position around the corner from this room. A large statue of a monkey-faced man sits on a pedestal at the north end of this small shrine. The statue’s arms and legs are missing, and deep scratches have been gouged into its face. Pieces of broken stone, rotting plant matter, and other assorted rubbish lie in heaps on the floor of this room. The smell of rot is particularly strong here. The two tiny beasts behind you seem to have taken great delight in desecrating this place.

Wrapped around the broken statue sits a fine belt seemingly untouched by age. What's more, there is an ajar cabinet in the pedestal below the disfigured figure, with a richly illuminated and bound book and a leather journal within.

"Didn't know monkey's wore belts." Hangust says off hand as he reaches for the journal within the bound book to see what is inside.

An Enkindled Carnival

Skimming the text, Hangust sees that the fancier volume is titled Vigrahin Patitraka. It is a well known-Vudran holy text, though this edition is both old and well-kept.

The journal seems to be a more interesting find. Paging through it, you quickly discover that this seems to be the private journal of a priest who accompanied Khiben-Sald himself on the Maharaja's travels throughout the Inner Sea. While most of the text is in Vudran, from the snippets of recognized phrases and occasional sketches you can only guess what insights could lie within.

While moving her hands in an intricate pattern, Tatiana begins another incantation.

(Tatiana casts comprehend language and reads through the journal.)

An Enkindled Carnival

Tatiana begins reading through the priest's journal as the rest of you search carefully through the temple with a fine-toothed comb. Skimming through the text, Tatiana can alreay notice many mentions of other sites, some of which long thought lost, that the maharaja's train visiting on his tour of the Inner Sea, but a full study would likely need to be undertaken to glean all of the text's secrets.

Meanwhile, her colleagues look around the ruins carefully, but find no new alcoves or grand treasures. As they return back to the entrance however, you spot two tiny bows placed in the monkey statues' hands, while the figures' expressions have somehow shifted into wide, satisfied smiles. A handful of primates scamper around the statues and the floor and screech at you as you near the exit.

Ooka ooka:
[b]Green Earthmonkey and friends kill mean yellow things. Make temple nice again. They friends of monkeys! Friends of Ragdya too! Thanks to big no-tail monkeys and tiny still-not-monkeys!

You can still stay about the temple if you'd like, but you've found all you're equipped to find at this point. Whenever you are ready, you can return back to the hunting lodge to await your return to Absalom.

An Enkindled Carnival

Your journey back through the Lowlands passes without incident, and shortly after dusk falls you arrive at a smaller lodge by a river. The lodge's common room is in a raucous mood, as you enter to see Baron Bomande smiling and drinking as the count, porters, and other local hunters listen to his rambling war stories. Seeing you enter, Bomande gives out a shout and raises a mug high.

"Ho, and here they come, straggling back! The other fighters of the hour. Come in, grab a drink, and let us toast! To allies in the bush. To my son, Falroun, for bringing us together," (at this Falroun blushes) "to fallen friends, and to vindication!" The room lets out an affirming cry and drinks.

As the rest of the crowd goes back to the festivities, Count Falroun makes his way over to you and shakes your hands vigorously. "This is the most the old man seems to have connected with me so far, and I know I have you to thank for that. I've arranged a boat tomorrow morning that should bring you to a larger port, with transfer papers that will return you to Absalom. you can tell your captain I'll be calling on the Society again, and if any of you are ever in Alkenstar please do call upon me. It would be a true pleasure to see you again."

True to his word, Count Falroun sees you off on a vessel in the morning. There is a stuffed antelope waiting aboard the ship alongside your gear, with a tag on it that reads ‘Sparkle-Weave --- your spoils’.

Once you reach the Grand Lodge once more, Ambrus Valsin is excited to inspect the books and items you discovered, and pores over them as you deliver your preliminary reports. The Venture-Captain appears especially thrilled by the journal recovered from the temple. He excitedly sends it along to the Society’s Vudran historians. ”With a trove like this, we may be able to trace where else that train stopped: who knows what other artifacts and sites have been left unclaimed over the millennia!” He asks that you record a more detailed account of your experiences later but seems quite pleased with your work.

And with that, the scenario comes to a close! You have successfully explored a lost temple of Ragdya and have accumulated significant favor with the Alkenstran nobles. Congratulations.
