"Aaah! Blood! That's soooo gross!" cries Gahlethea. "If that blood keeps spurting, it might even get onto my dress. Someone should really do something about that poor student. Just where is that professor anyways?"

Apparently, Gahlethea chooses to delay (at least until the others get a chance at the dogs or something else spurs her to action).

"Oh, no! I would never let those bad dogs hurt you, Sir Cuddlebuttons. Never!"

Gahlethea scoops the rabbit out of her satchel and lifts it up over her head. "I am so sorry for not thinking of you first!" As she apologizes, she brings the rabbit to her face until the two touch noses. "Oh, yes I am! Oh, yes I am!" she says as she repeatedly rubs her nose with that of the rabbit.

Then, holding the rabbit so that its ears are close to her mouth, the blonde witch begins to utter a series of ancient words that, if spoken into mortal ears with sufficient frequency, have the potential to drive their listeners into the realms of pure madness!

Perception 15 +1/10 ft. away:

Gee, the witch thinks. I don't know what's up with these other people. They seem too distractured and preoccupated with their own issues and whatever stuff that they're doing that they don't seem to want to take the time and just focus on ME for a little while.

Gahlethea huffs. Well, I'm not like that. I can focus on others. And to prove it, I'm going to go over to Miss Pointy Ears right now and give her some much needed fashion tips! (You go girl!) The witch moves towards Maria.

Gahlethea hugs the rabbit tightly in an effort to shield it from the attacking beast. ”Down dog!” she shouts in anticipation of its jumping up again. Upon hearing the animal’s final “yip” and realizing that no attack has come, the blonde witch looks down at the dog’s lifeless body. ”And stay down!” she orders. Good dog. she says affirmatively. ”If only they were all so well behaved.”

Gahlethea goes to pet the animal, but stops when she catches a glimpse of the char and gore. She waves her hand towards the men in the party. ”Yoohoo!” she calls. ”Will one of you please clean that up? Really, its disgusting. Okay, thank you.” she says dismissively, before wandering aloud, ”Now, what I was up to before Sir Cuddlebuttons and I were so RUDELY interrupted?”

“Oh, yes.” she recalls while spying Maria, who having been fresh from battle had not yet stowed her weapon. ”I’ve been thinking about your clothing, Maria, and…” The witch stops midsentence. ”Maria.” she repeats with her eyes pointed towards her forehead for a moment as if deep in thought.

”If I am going to help you, girl, then we might as well start at the very beginning.” says the blonde. ”Maria.” she repeats.”That name is for, like, little people… peasant people, not for someone of great staturation! Maria. How droll! You need a new name! A better name! A name that inspires people to create music, song, and the like! A name that people will want to repeat or to revere! A name that people might want to name ships , cathedrals, or even whole cities after!” she says turning away from the elf as if to present the idea to a vast, non-existent audience, stretching her arms out further and further with every word.

”A new name it is, then.” declares the blonde witch as she turns back to look at the elven archer. ”So, what have we got to work with here? Let's see… an elf…and a bow.” Gahlethea taps a finger against her forehead as if thinking hard. ”An elf… a bow…” she repeats aloud. ”An elf… a bow… an elf… a bow… an elf.. a bow…”

The witch stares in silence for a moment, then begins to shake with excitement before nearly bursting with exuberance, ”I got it! Your new name! It shall be…. pausing for dramatical effect‘Elphabo’!”

You’re not saying anything. He can’t hear you right now. None of them can hear you right now.) But, I really do pity the Fool.

I can’t help myself. she continues. I pity the Fool. I just really do. I pity the Fool. I can't stop saying it. I pity the Fool. I pity the Fool. Wait, can anyone help me? No really, I can’t stop saying it. I pity the Fool. How many times do I have to keep saying it? I pity the Fool. I pity the Fool. I pity the Fool! Please, someone stop me! The rabbit hops back into Gahlethea's pink satchel and is carried comfortably over the treacherous stones and debris until it catches up to the rest of the party.

As the party explores, the rabbit keeps an eye out for trouble while the witch, Gahlethea, is lost in thought, if such a thing is possible.

The Southern wing is practically impassible. You could squeeze though various parts of the rubble, but it looks like little of interest there. You can make out what was the den for the dogs, but it does not have anything useful.

The northern wing of the tower seems to have escaped the worst effects of the collapse, but rubble still litters the floor and everything is covered in a thick layer of stone dust. Thick cobwebs cloak the ceiling and hang down the walls like gossamer tapestries. A single archway stands open in the southwest wall.

The rabbit shakes its head back and forth looking quite disappointed, if such a thing is possible, in the two-legged creatures. Springing to action, the rabbit hops quickly out of Gahlethea’s satchel into the field of rocks and debris. It immediately gets to work. Collecting and moving small pebbles with its mouth or paws, the rabbit methodically, if somewhat awkwardly, is able to re-position the pebbles into some sort of discernable pattern or shape.

”Why just look at you!” cries Gahlethea into the web-filled chamber, visibly relieved. ”Why you don’t have short fur!" she cries, as she holds up her thumb and forefinger less than an inch apart. ”In fact, you don’t have ANY fur!”

"And you don’t have any wirey, swingey tail." she howls waving the backside of her dress. ”In fact, you don’t have ANY tail!”

"Any you don’t have any tiny, little hand-like, handey-thingies.!" she taunts , curling the fingers on each of her hands in some, odd hand-resembling way.

"And…” she says more loudly, as she looks the spider into its eye, eye, eye, eye, eye, eye, eye, and other eye. ”You don’t have any wings! Not even one!”

”Why you’re no monkey! No monkey at all! You couldn’t be even if you tried!” Then, she concludes, using the best put down that she could think of under the circumstances. ”The best you can do is only WISH you were a monkey!”

Mechanics:

Gahlethea uses Evil Eye hex on the spider. Doubt (somehow) creeps into the spider’s mind (wondering whether there is anything that it could possibly do to be more monkey-like?) and it takes a -2 to attack rolls. Lasts 7 rounds unless the spider makes a successful Will save (mind-affecting) DC 15 (10 base +1 class +4 Int) , in which case it lasts one round.

Gahlethes knows that's no monkey. However, it unfortunately does not have any significant mind to ponder the philosophical questions posed to it as it is a spider. A mindless spider. A mindless spider that sees its next meal.

It spits a web at Gahlethea.

Web Range Touch: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

A mindless spider seeing its next meal entangled in a web.

Entangled:

An entangled creature takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty on Dexterity, can move at only half speed, and cannot charge or run. If you control the trailing rope by succeeding on an opposed Strength check while holding it, the entangled creature can move only within the limits that the rope allows. If the entangled creature attempts to cast a spell, it must make a concentration check with a DC of 15 + the spell’s level or be unable to cast the spell.

Feeling the pull of the thick, sticky strands of webbing on her clothing, Gahlethea realizes that a young woman of her limited strength has no little hope of breaking free of the webbing on her own. Without any obvious means of escape, Gahlethea consigns herself to the fact that she will die a slow, horrible death—feeling first the excruciating pain of the spider’s poison, followed by paralysis, followed by a prolonged period of agony as her internal organs are slowly liquefied and then sucked out of her body. There is a bright side to all this, I suppose, the witch ponders, mustering the courage to be brave in the face of certain death. At least it wasn’t a monkey. Although she had yet to suffer a single injury or wound, the noblewoman’s brief, almost entirely wasted, life begins to flash in front of her eyes.

Suddenly, a flash of insight comes over the woman. If I’m stuck in this awful, sticky webbing, then there was a pretty good chance that my dress is too! And I paid a lot for this dress! (Yes, you did. Didn’t you.)

With renewed vigor, the woman was determined to fight against her fate and to do whatever she could to get free and removing the webbing from her gown before it could leave a stain---one that might never come out!

Recalling many of the interactions with her parents from her brief, almost entirely wasted life, Gahlethea had a realization. In each of those instances, when she hadn’t gotten her way by throwing a tantrum, yelling, pouting, or taunting, she had gotten her way by being cute, perky, nice-ish, and pleasantly demanding!

”Oh, spider!” she cried out gleefully. ”I was just joking! You’d make a great… please don’t make me say it out loud… okay I’ll say it out loud… monkey spider. You really would. Teehee” The witch bats her eyelash a few times at the spider and follows that with another high-pitched, girlish laugh. ”Now why don’t you be a good little monkey spider and let little ole Gahlethea go, okay? You’re a good monkey spider. Good monkey spider. Good. So good.” She flashes a bright smile full of perfectly manicured teeth.

Mechanics:
Gahlethea uses her Charm (Su) hex to charm an animal or humanoid creature within 30 feet by beckoning and speaking soothing words. Spider must make a Will save (DC 16) or its attitude improves by 1 step, as if the witch had successfully used the Diplomacy skill, for 5 rounds. Successful Will save negates.Whether or not the save is successful, a creature cannot be the target of this hex again for 1 day.

Regardless of its success, Gahlethea attempts to move half her speed towards the outside of the chamber from which she had come, towards Sir Fuzzelworth Cuddlebuttons.
