"Young Hawk, would you be so good as to accept this man's surrender?" Maximo smiles, then turns to cut Brother Grimdoc out of the ice.
"Try not to move. I don't think you wish to be any shorter!"
*Hack hack hack hack*
With all bonuses, Maximo does an average of 20 points per hit, 3 hits a round = 60 damage to the ice.
Brother Grimdoc |
"Brrrr. Now I know how an ice cold beer feel...which right about now would feel really good if ya get my meaning...Harrhhhh. Thanks Max. I owe you one or two. How did the battle go? "
figuring 7pts damage per round, Grim will work on healing himself once free. 3 pts fast healing until combat ends then wand or spells afterwarrd .
Pai Kromnite PFS |
"Be careful with that spellcaster. That's a very powerful spell you were subjected to, Grimdoc! It might be worth a gag, or something to keep them quiet. I'm glad you are okay."

As Haris strikes, the man steps away and makes a complicated gesture and fire rains down on the rogue and the Baron. "I knew you could not be trusted!" he screeches.
10d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 6, 5, 5, 6, 2, 3, 6) = 42 Reflex for half & avoid other. H also needs an attack roll.
Grimdoc continues to freeze until Maximo cuts him free, which the big blade does in sorry order.
10 hp for each round, he can cut you free in one (3 rds total I think). M needs another Fort save, G needs 2 more).

Using saving finale and cancelling my performance to allow Maximo to re-save against that effect. The performance is still effective for two rounds thanks to Lingering Performance.
"You can't be trusted. Meet Pharasma at your earlier convenience!" thrusts the bard has he cuts the sorcerer down.
+1 Keen Mithral Longsword (2-handed, PA(FF), AS, Good Hope, Haste, Inspire): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20

sorry maximo wasn't in the blast just Rysalius and Haris. Haris can benefit from the saving finale though. Haris made an attack which triggered the sorcerer's ready action. He did not make an attack roll yet. If he does the 3 points of non-lethal drops the sorcerer. If he doesn't Rysalius' will true dead him. Maximo cuts Grimdoc out in a single round.
Rysalius Starnon |
"Right. Since this treachery is over and done with, I suggest we get on with the ritual."
How do we need to proceed from there?
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Maximo steps away from Ascalar and hacks the ice away from brother Grimdoc. Haris attempts to slug the cowering man who responds with a blast of hellfire catching the rogue and baron in flame. Rysalius steps up and sends the sorcerer to Pharasma's boneyard.
After the shattering of ice stops echoing off the chamber walls the pathfinders find it eerily silent. Pai leaves the room and withing a few rounds find the sickness begin to pass.
After a few minutes the party is free to complete the ritual. With the book on the alter the pathfinder circle and join hands and begin to channel magic through each other, the book and the apparatus.
So even if we all failed the save Haris would still have knocked the guy out? Can we call this fight then? One way or another, this guy is handled.
Yes, H's attempt to punch the guy triggered a readied action to call down hellfire. Except H missed. The only question became was he unconscious (from Haris) or true dead from Rysalius.
... On a side note that wizard has got hella hps!
hella +2 to be exact :)

Haris, as the only non-caster in the group, leads the magical ritual. The abysium statue pulses and the book in Grimdocs hand pulses back. The pulsing gains a rhythmic beat Grimdoc joins Haris. A moment later Lillian joins, then Pai and the others.
The ritual continues for a minute when the pulsing rhythym gains speed. Rysalius takes the ivory statuette of the lich Takaral and crushes it to powder. As the white dust falls it is consumed by the wave of energy reverberating from the altar.
The process continues. Pai holds of the onyx scale. It tips one way, then the other become a divine focus of the energy. Lillian and Maximo hold up a golden brick, once part of the great golden wall that encircles the Eternal City of Axis. They recite an inscription of the The Order of Numbers, holy book of Abadar. On the 73rd refrain the rest of the party joins in and for another eight minutes the chant begins to pick up power.
The pulsing power increases to flashes, threatening to blind the party with its unearthly blue-green light. The starmetal burns through them, highlighting their skeletons at each wave. Muscles threaten to peel away from bone and the voices grow horse, throats dry from chanting, poisoned by energy radiating throughout the room.
But then the pulse begin to slow. It becomes easier to speak and eventually the eyes can make out their fellow pathfinders. For another ten minutes they chant, each refrain through the prayar gets a little slower, and breathing that must have stopped long ago becomes a little easier.
Soon, twenty or thirty minutes later--maybe more outside the demi-plane--the room settles into a quiet hum. The apparatus on the alter re-sparks and energy is once again harnessed between the copper tubings, strange coils, and the blue-green statue of Hao Jin.
or 1d20 +3 for each clue item retrieved from area C2 (9) +1 for each spellcaster in the party (5) = 20+9+5 = 34 = >25 Resounding Success!
The Pathfinder Society can now use the Hao Jin Tapestry to freely travel between Absalom and Varisia and can create additional entry and exit points throughout the Material Plane.

"Whoa...this is the neatest thing I've ever seen! This tapestry is a huge discovery, and now we've learned how to use its power!"
Rysalius Starnon |
"We certainly gave a memorable performance. Congratulations, everyone."

Having re-attuned the apparatus within the demi-plane successfully, Maximo makes one final adjustment, establishing a small portal into a well-stocked wine cellar tucked away beneath a tavern converted from a small theater on a street at the edge of the Ivy District in Absalom.
Turning to his companions, he displays a smile of perfect white teeth. "Come, my friends! Drinks and entertainment await!"
