Denair tries to identify the eggs.

Knowledge(Nature): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Honorbound Emissaries

Denair identifies the eggs as tyrannosaurus eggs, meaning these are what the grippli sent you to retrieve. You find a total of five eggs intact, and you collect them all. In fact, only one of the eggs in the next was broken and consumed by the lizard folk. It would seem you made it here in good time. As you lift the first of the eggs from the nest, you notice that the eggs are quite heavy, and you find yourselves grateful for Willem's strong horse. You load up the eggs in the saddlebags and begin making your way back up the ravine.

A few hundred yards from the dinosaur nest, the ravine suddenly falls silent—no birds, monkeys, or other jungle creatures are audible. A few heartbeats later, a bellowing roar echoes through the ravine, causing countless small birds and animals to abandon their hiding places and scatter as quickly as possible. A series of great shuddering cracks herald the downfall of several trees in the distance, and a second thunderous roar pierces the air, followed by the frantic shouts of panicked humanoids. Suddenly, a massive dinosaur bursts out of the jungle to the southwest, pursuing a dozen leather-clad explorers through the ravine. The furious creature sweeps up a straggler into its massive jaws and flings the screaming victim off into the jungle, roars, and rushes toward its next target!

BEGIN CHASE SCENE!
This next section uses a modified version of the chase rules, where, instead of everyone making individual checks, you'll all make checks contributing to the group's overall success. I'll take the highest roll as the check for the group, and all other rolls will be treated as checks to aid the high roller. I'll give brief descriptions of the obstacles you face as you and the Aspis agents charging toward you flee from the raging tyrannosaur coming down the ravine. Each success or failure will determine the outlook of the final set piece of this scenario.
I'll start the chase in my next post.

You manage to gather yourselves quickly enough to beat a hasty retreat from the enormous beast, though one of the Aspis agents behind you is not so fortunate, and he finds himself beneath the feet of the tyrannosaurus. The dinosaur is too angry to stop there, though, so the chase continues.

With a combination of wilderness know-how and pure brute force, you make your past the boulders blocking the path. As he rides along atop Destrier, Saritirnen gazes back and catches a glimpse of the dino as it climbs atop the rubble and lets out a deafening roar.

While the view is good news in that it provides a really awesome image for the elf to discuss with his multitudes, it's bad news in that it leaves open a long, clear path for the tyrannosaur to charge down. She climbs down off the rubble and begins racing after you. With the open patch of ground ahead of her, she is able to build up some speed and come dangerously close to catching you! A series of slashes and stabs draw the dino's attention away from the retreating party. As the tyrannosaur tends to her wounds, some of the more stealthy members of the group find a convenient break in the foliage behind a large boulder. The break actually seems to be the head of a small path off the main passage through the ravine, and you manage to gain some distance between yourself and the rex.

As you hastily work your way along the path, you come across yet another obstacle. A waterfall feeds a pool and stream that cut across a broad section of the ravine, and sharp-toothed fish are leaping out of the water in anticipation of a meal. How will you make it past this beautiful but treacherous setting?

Sorry boys, Laiashi thinks as she whips out a dagger. But if it's you or me, I choose me. She lets it fly at one of the Aspis.

Dagger throw (non masterwork): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Not being versed in handling animals Saritirnen prepares to attack the Aspis agents should it come to that.

Honorbound Emissaries

You make a run for the cliff face and begin to pull ahead of the Aspis agents and the thundering tyrannosaur. As she runs, Denair leaps excitedly as she passes beneath the fruit-laden tree and plucks the glowing fruit from its branches!

As she lands, she tries to turn and strike at the fleeing Aspis agents, but narrowly misses landing a crushing blow.

Jann, on the other hand, swings his staff around and catches an agent in the jaw, knocking him unconscious and leaving him to be snapped up in the dinosaur's razor-sharp teeth.

Meanwhile, Meredith takes a stand against the furious t-rex and backs it down with a stern word.

Despite the delays, however, the tyrannosaur nearly catches you as you begin to climb the cliff face to escape the ravine. This is the final ascent! What will you do?

Abandon all hope of anything clever and simply climb as fast as you can? You guessed it, give me a Climb check

-OR-

Go for the final word against the dino by dropping a big ol' rock down on her head to stun her? Strength or Dexterity check, please

In his mind he already knows the large lizard must have caught scent of its unborn offspring. Wishing this could have gone another way he uses his long spear as leverage to tip a rock down upon its head hoping to stun it rather than kill the creature.
