Author's table for 06-05 - Slave Ships of Absalom Discussion thread.
Scenario is due to be released 9/24/14, Gameplay thread will open then.
Do we want to play with 6 players, or keep it at 4?

I'm fine either way regarding the number of players.
I think I'll bring my level 4 necromancer/lore warden unless everyone else prefers low tier. I prefer to play him and not put GM credit on him since he has the Research Specialist boon (and my interpretation is you can't use that while you GM since it has to be "during the adventure", which is fine because it 'forces' me actually to play him).

I would prefer to run it at subtier 4-5 if possible, but I'm open to whatever characters you guys have available! :)

A very low body count means nothing depending on how many games you've got under your belt. What matters is the rate or frequency....
I'll get Khamul's profile updated tonight. I think he might have a little gold to spend in preparation for this adventure too.

Wish this one would have been released yesterday like it was supposed to be; I've got my own game waiting to start as well. Not sure what the holdup was, I didn't hear anything. Last minute edits?
| GM - Mark Garringer |
Last minute edits I assume. I got an email from John saying he was giving a last look over back from layout and then a few hours later it got pushed to today :\

I haven't looked at the other new one yet but hopefully they fixed the map problem on this round of scenarios. With the first three season 6 scenarios you couldn't copy-paste the maps from the PDF like normal (they just pasted as a black box), which was disappointing to PbPers and people who like to print the maps. I think it was a software change that layered things differently but hopefully they figured out how to fix it.

I typically cheat on getting the maps--I have a full copy of Adobe Acrobat at work, and it'll pull all the image files out of a pdf as jpegs. Particularly useful for the Bestiaries.

If anyone has played #05-03 The Hellknight's Feast with another CHARACTER please let me know (or it's possible that Kilian may have).

Sorry for the short notice but I'll have limited availability this weekend.

Day jobs if you've got them. I should have Chronicles posted later today.
If there is anything else you want to ask/know/role play in the last bit there feel free of course.
I feel, really, really badly about killing Jerrik like that so I'm going to undo it ;)
Hopefully you guys enjoyed it, I certainly enjoyed writing it and running it for you guys! I'm running 4 tables currently (well 3 now with this one finishing) and starting up 2 more for PbP Gameday. It's very interesting to me to see what things each group does differently and how they approach things. The hold fight was certainly epic and amazing!
Khamul, I know you ran a PbP of this already so I hope you enjoyed the play experience!

Jerrik, the one thing I would suggest as a general rule, something that could have given you an option in that situation, is to have a backup weapon or two. It's an artifact of the rules that even when prone picking something up provokes, but drawing a weapon doesn't.
I try to give all of my non-half-BAB characters at least one melee weapon of each type; daggers are good, because they can be both P and S. Light maces are good, because you can make them out of alchemic silver for cheap and not lose any damage, the way you would with a P or S silver weapon. You can go pretty far with a cold iron rapier, silver mace, and regular dagger. At one point in a Carrion Hill game my L5 archer inquisitor was the only one left standing in a fight vs. zombies, and was only managing to hold his own because he had a dagger.

Craft (alchemy): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Yeah, my group didn't have too much trouble with the fights except for that last one, which was a bit tricky. But they were also low tier so no gunslingers.... (They also had a 3 and 4 mixed in I think, which really skewed the fights in their favor.)
I think they all had a lot of fun with it and as a GM I thought it was very well-written and well-done. I really liked the tie-ins to the previous scenarios and the fact that we'll be getting some follow-up on the Dalsine Affair. Very much looking forward to that unfolding plotline in the future.

Craft alchemy, Crafter's Fortune: 1d20 + 14 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 14 + 5 = 32
Thanks GM! Awesome scenario and very well written. Especially gripping final fight. Luckily we had Killian.....

Trying to keep to a light load and (usually) using a bow when fighting, I elected to not have a backup thinking it would rarely come into play. Notice I said rarely...
Thank you for the extra life though TBH and fair I would have had no problem accepting the afterlife. I thought all was quite fair, just tough. I did what I felt Jerrik would do and it got him in harm's way this time.
For future reference though, would drawing a wand of CLW provoke? I can never remember. I almost put that in as a conditional move but elected to try to be the hero instead, LOL.

Chronicles have been sent!
As for any sequel or follow up work, I would certainly accept the offer if it is extended! Nothing has been offered at present, but doing the expected follow up on this one would be a lot of fun I think!
Thanks guys, I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

Got it, and it's legible. Thanks again! Now let's get back to Windsong Abbey...I have a bad feeling about how we're going to have to get to the lower levels. Karn, next time we're in the courtyard, check for tracks.
