"I would think one of us would not need to 'act' insane, as they appear to only be wearing a bath robe and talk ceaselessly." Ronin points out as they wait for an answer to the their knocking. Hearing none, the Tiefling steps up to the door and checks for traps or locks. If he finds none, he slowly opens the door with his free hand after re-activating his soul-seeing eyes with a flash of angry light.
Peering through the doorway he looks around for signs of life.
"If they needed sacrifices I am sure they would have used the insane for they would be hardly missed."
Ronin sees three forms bound in straight-jackets and ropes, leaning against the walls with one lying on the floor. They don't notice him peering through the door, instead they appear to be stuck in their own little worlds.
Kyra enters the room and examines the bound forms. "The blessing of the Dawnflower be upon you," she says gently.
As Kyra enters the room the three people look at her and begin shrieking and gibbering nonsense. Kyra doesn't have much time to look them over, but each appears to have been lobotomized in order to increase aggression and kill reasoning.
Not even 30 seconds after the 'patients' have started screaming four men with enormous clubs, studded leather armor, and helmets made of cages burst through the doors leading inwards. "'Umies! Knock 'em down to bring ta da boss!"
The curved blade cuts deep into the man, sending him to the ground in a wash of blood. The other three, not knowing or not caring how dangerous the cloaked man is surround him in an attempt to beat him down with their giant clubs, one going for his legs, the rest just aiming at torso and head.
Phantomblade neatly jumps the club aimed at his ankles, but is smacked in the air, bruising his ribs a little.

The Professor cinches his bathrobe shut and waves his arms about.
"Be prepared for a fireball that.."
As a large burst of sound explodes amid the cage-headed thugs, the Professor rubs his brow.
"Wait, that wasn't a fireball.. did I use the kah when I meant to use the zah somatic component?"
One man drops his club and clutches at the cage surrounding his head trying to cover his ears, the other two seem too preoccupied trying to hit Phantomblade to notice.
Kyra prays to Sarenrae for protection, then strides forward with her scimitar held high.
The man holding his cage groans as his companions shift their feet to bring their clubs into play better.

Valyssa spends a move action to start her rage song
Ronin focuses and steps forward drawing a chakram, throwing it at the nearest enemy.
Despite the long odds it ends up directly where he wants it to go, injuring one of the orderlies.
The covered tengu cuts up and across, wounding another orderly, but not putting him down quite yet.
The orderlies swing with all their might, one going for Phantomblade's ankles while the others wait to see what happens.
Phantomblade leads him forward then hops over the club aimed at his ankles, allowing the man to overbalance before pushing him onto his back.
The other orderly decides not to mess with cloaked figure, instead aiming for Valyssa.
Who picks off the oncoming club with contemptuous ease.
Valyssa cuts through the orderly's weak protection but doesn't quite bring him down. The man sways back and forth as blood steams from him, club gripped in white knuckles.
Kyra taps her foot to Vanyssa's tune as she swipes at the red orderly.
Kyra cuts down the orderly, finally allowing Ronin room to rush into the gap, sword drawn and singing.
He cuts down another enemy, before the last attempts to stand once more.
Phantom finishes off the last of the orderlies with a flourish.

The Professor removes his glasses and begins wiping them clean, his expression somewhat impassive after being nearly murdered by a number of orderlies.
"Do you suppose that we just caught them doing something nefarious? What was that you said, Kyra? Modifications to increase aggression?"
The Professor glances about.
"I do imagine there is someone behind this - perhaps the headmaster here? You do know someone who'd run a sanitarium is a bit predisposed to evil..."
Phantom tries his best to discern meaning in the random shrieking and babbling of those kept in here, but he can't come up with anything, even at times not sure if they're speaking Taldane.

Cleaning his blade upon the fallen Orderlies' tunic and returning it to his sheath, Ronin looks down on the thugs with disgust. "This place certainly hides something, though whether it is nefarious summonings of an outer beast or just simple abuse we will need to find out."
The ex-samurai kneels at the feet of one of the babbling patients and tries to examine them, to see if they have been afflicted of the mind or whether this seems to be an external force acting upon them.
The lunatics may have had actual problems before but their lobotomies are most certainly the cause of an outside force.
D2. Cloakroom: This area is used to store cloaks, straitjackets, and other bits of clothing used by new arrivals or stored temporarily by visitors.
D3. Holding Cell: This bare room is used to temporarily hold new arrivals until they are processed, deloused, and then led down to their cells below. The room is currently empty.
D4. Meeting Room: A chair with attached restraining straps stands before a blackboard. Prisoners may be questioned herein, or visitors spoken to. Area D4a is a smaller office.
D5. Main Hall: The doors to both stairwells hang open, and chained to each landing at the top of the stairs within is a single lunatic. As with those in area D1, they begin shrieking as soon as they see anyone approach. The stairs lead down to area D23.
It seems none of the orderlies have been entrusted with keys, each has little more than pocket lint and the clubs they were carrying.
It is easy to avoid the lunatics at the top of the stairs, but down at the bottom another has been chained by only his ankle, preventing him from moving out of the stairwell, but allowing him the space to swing his large rock around.

Seeing the lunatic poses a threat phantom will jump the railing going down stairs with sword drawn and drop it straight into the collar bone of the man, making the sword stab trough the entire body.

"The Dawnflower has pity for you," intones Kyra as Phantom mercifully slices down the lunatic. She looks around the basement area.
The stone tiles on the floor here are of a deep green. Maniacal laughter, cries of pain, screams, and off-key singing echo from the north and south hallways. To the west, the hall ends in a large pair of massive iron doors, while to the east the hall opens into a room containing a round table and a few chairs. An iron door in the southern wall of the eastern room hangs wide open.
Six more people in loose straight jackets and chains wander around the area with the table. They see Phantom step out of the stairwell and scream, raising chair legs and rocks, ready to attack!
Kyra takes a step back and prayers to her goddess: "Oh great Dawnflower, protect us against these poor lunatics! They know not what they do."
Phantom cuts down the raving lunatic without issue, the man's straightjacket providing nearly no protection.
The lunatics howl and spit, waving their rocks and furniture legs, but advance no further. You look down and realize they are stuck to that room by lengths of chain around their ankles.

Shaking his head sadly as the raving lunatics growl and bark, Ronin tuts as Phantom cuts one down without need or provocation. "These people are Ill and do not deserve your blade's edge." The Tiefling chides in his usual rasp, "They have been worked into a violent frenzy by something terrible here, we could simply move on and have no need to engage!"
Stepping towards the lunatics he tries to scare them into fleeing his demonic visage, meanwhile his soul-seeing eyes read their auras.

The Professor rubs his eyes, clearly shocked at the positioning of the men.
"Whaa...? Is that fireball formation?"
Not one to waste an opportunity to appease Brigh, the old gnome breaks into a series of somatic gestures before a crackling bead of fire darts through his allies and explodes in the room.
