I'm not sure that tripping Grundle would change/affect Grundle's Grappling. Though it should give a pretty clear show of your intent.Let me look into it, a bit. That does in fact trip him, though. <Ok, it looks like, (and feel free to bring up anything I might have missed), that Grundle would still be Pinning Zamir, but also be Prone. So +5 to CMB and CMD for the Grapple/Pin, and -2 for Prone, and -4 for melee attacks, (for a net of +3 CMD, -1 CMB)>
Zamir tries to break the Grapple while the Tiger charges. Unfortunately, Danyn moves in the way, leaving him the only valid Target.
Zamir's Grapple: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 <vs CMD 19> (fails, is PINNED)
Accrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 <vs AC 17> <MISS, luckily. Tiger Full Attack is no joke>
Kort and Kanye rush past the newly reactivated training dummy, which deactivates again as soon as they are out of it's reach. If you haven't already rolled, you two may act in this next "round". Hagrym, Evigail, and Arovandean get back to this floor.
DM Beckett |
Grundle is up again. I'll give him a little to post and then move on.
Grundle Farbon PFS |
Sorry for the wait...You did exactly what I wanted Beckett (nice new avatar BTW).
As Grundle's feet fly from under him he screams, "NO! HE DESERVES TO DIE!!! NOONE BELONGS IN CHAINS!!!!!!" He starts to sob uncontrollably as he hits the ground. The spiked chains, thankfully finding purchase in Zamir's skin, remains around his neck. Grundle starts trying to bind the man with the chain.
Tie Up: 1d20 + 4 + 5 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 5 - 2 - 4 = 16
DM Beckett |
Grundle manages to tie up Zamir with his spiked chains (all Zon-Kuthon style) and to bring the pain.
Damage: 1d3 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Kanye, Kort, and then Danyn are up before the druid and his companion go again.
Danyn |
Danyn, now more concerned about surviving a tiger attack, makes two quick strikes against the animal.
Flurry: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 2 = 17, Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Flurry: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 2 = 19, Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
I assume I get flanking off of Kort
DM Beckett |
You do, and both strike land, managing more to anger the tiger than harm it.

"Zamir! Call off the cat!"
Round 2
Status:
Standard: cast defensively
concentration: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 ...AND
'chill touch'
touch attack: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 + 2 = 23; damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
NOTE: If all/any of that worked, kitty needs to make a Fort save v. DC 13 or lose 1 pt STR
DM Beckett |
Sadly, you are too late for that, Grundle has managed to Pin, tie up, and gag (I'm assuming as he is a spellcaster) Zamir, so that is now out of his hands completely, (and Zamir has 0% chance now of getting free).
[/ooc]Grundle (21)
Hagrym (19)
Kayne (18)
Kort (18)
Evigail (17)
Danyn (10)
Zamir (4) (Bound and Gagged)
Tiger
Kanye can act if he wants, followed by the tiger, then Grundle, then everyone else again.
Kanye the Giant |
Kanye readies an action. If the cat moves Kanye will attack it.

DM Beckett |
It's not going to move, but it is going to full attack right after your turn, so go ahead if you are going to.
Kanye the Giant |
If it is going to attack Grundle he has it coming and Kanye abstains. Anybody else Kanye will attack.
Grundle made us all liars, Kanye does not take kindly to having his word broken.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Grundle Farbon PFS |
If Grundle's still alive after the tiger's turn...
Coup de Grace: 2d4 + 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 4) + (4, 2) + 4 = 17
Coup de Grace rules for your reference.
Fort DC would be 27 then.
Arovandeon Isero |
I'm not certain Arovandeon can quite see what Grundle is doing, and even if he could there is nothing he can do about it. If he can he will call to Danyn to stop Grundle.
DM Beckett |
Kanye's attack is not enough to put the Tiger down, who opens up on the Monk who first hit him.
Bite vs Danyn: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 (HIT + Grab)
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Grab: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 (GRAPPLES)
Claw vs Kanye: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 (HIT)
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Grab: 1d20 - 12 ⇒ (1) - 12 = -11 (NOT GRAPPLED)
Claw vs Kort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 (MISS)
Grundle then performs his CdG, and unless the Grappled Danyn wants to try a AoO, or someone can can stop him before the beginning of his next action, I'm pretty sure that's that.
Preemptive Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
I'm going to use my Shirt Reroll and Star. . . Can I even do that?
Preemptive Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Grundle Farbon PFS |
Assuming Grundle gets to do his Coup de Grace.
Grundle whispers into Zamir's ear as he tightens the spiked chain around his neck, tears streaming down the crazed half-elf's eyes "You deserve this. I'll see you in the Boneyard."
DM Beckett |
So basically Kanye goes, the Tiger full attacks, and that round ends. Grundle begins to Coup Des Grace (a Full Round Action), which gives everyone basically one more turn, and also as it does provoke, Danyn can technically take an AoO on Grundle, though I do require it to be nonlethal (no PvP).
So everyone but Grundle is up, followed by the Tiger, followed by the conclusion of Grundle's CdG, which kills Zamir.
Grundle Farbon PFS |
I don't think you can AoO while grappled?
Found it and bolded it from the Grappled condition:
Grappled: A grappled creature is restrained by a creature, trap, or effect. Grappled creatures cannot move and take a –4 penalty to Dexterity. A grappled creature takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and combat maneuver checks, except those made to grapple or escape a grapple. In addition, grappled creatures can take no action that requires two hands to perform. A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level), or lose the spell. Grappled creatures cannot make attacks of opportunity.A grappled creature cannot use Stealth to hide from the creature grappling it, even if a special ability, such as hide in plain sight, would normally allow it to do so. If a grappled creature becomes invisible, through a spell or other ability, it gains a +2 circumstance bonus on its CMD to avoid being grappled, but receives no other benefit.
So the Tiger can't AoO nor can Danyn as they both have the Grappled condition.
Danyn |
Technically my Redirection ability triggers before the tiger's attack resolves, so if I succeed on the trip, that may change the results. But of course tigers have +4 to resist trip due to their leggy nature.
Trip: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Kort Drakovich |
@grundle - I think Beckett meant Danyn, in case he wanted to kick you in the head or something...
Frustrated by his own lack of concentration last round, Kort attempts the same sequence of actions again.
'It's just a kitty cat. Why would that be distracting?'
Oh! if kitty is in a grapple, then Kort won't cast defensively...
Round 3
Standard: cast 'chill touch'
touch attack: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 2 = 17; damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
NOTE: If all/any of that worked, kitty needs to make a Fort save v. DC 13 or lose 1 pt STR
Grundle Farbon PFS |
Everyone can take their turn's action...but the Tiger used its Grab ability to grapple Danyn successfully. Assuming that the trip doesn't work from Danyn's Redirection ability then both the Tiger and Danyn have the Grappled condition which doesn't allow them to take an AoO.
Edit - Ninja'ed...err...Monk'ed by Danyn!
DM Beckett |
You are correct, except that Kort just killed the kitty. Jeeze this is getting complicated. Also Danyn, before that, yes that does trip the Tiger.
Kort Drakovich |
fragile kitty? I only did 6 hp, and at most 1 STR, though looking back I guess that's on top of some hurt from Danyn earlier...
So Kort the 1st level sorcerer just took the kill shot on a tiger with a negative energy spell? hrmm.. that's character development significant.
Grundle Farbon PFS |
aha! Grundle is prone and grappled so -6 to AC.

DM Beckett |
Danyn and Kanye of course helped, and then there is that square your standing in that gives you superhero powers. :) Oh wait, you said you killed it with Neg Energy. A deep, eerie mist begins to spring up all around you. You all quickly become lost in the fog. In the distance you hear a wolf howl, and deep in your soul a nagging feeling that evil, true evil both exists and is much stronger in this place. All divine characters, at this point, you notice that you just do not feel the same loving connection to the divine you always had. Finally the mists begin to break, and you are not sure how long you have been wandering. To your left and to your right, slowly your companions also begin to walk out of the mists, confused, lost. Finally coming together, you see a strange note lying on the ground. It seems much finer quality than you know to even exist on Golarion, leading to the uncomfortable feeling th,. . . no better not to think about such things. Back to the letter. On the front of it's folds, in an accented text you have never seen, though in the common alphabet and readable, are scribed all of your true names. <everyone looks at Evigail curiously, whose "real name" is replaced with another, one he alone know the dark truth behind>. That, and she feels as though something else has truly changed. Opening the letter, what seems an invitation,
Evigail 'Seaweed' Brandiday |
Grundle No!
Seaweed steps in to see if help can be given to either the new ally or the old.
Can bursting a channel be timed to reduce the fort save needed or remove CdG damage? Is there time for Seaweed to move in and start a grapple of Grundle (interrupting the CdG)? The former is cooler (& could save the kitty), the latter makes more game-sense. :)

Massive edit above. Please read first. . .
Grundle Farbon PFS |
Ummm....uhoh?

DM Beckett |
J/K, because PFS is lame.
Danyn |
If the trip works then the tiger's attack misses, so I'm not grappled and get my AoO on Grundle. Since he's prone, he takes a -4 penalty to CMD.
Disarm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Looks like Grundle loses his chain before he can finish the deed.
DM Beckett |
you are released from the Grapple when Kord drops the beast, but Grundle has already started the CdG by that point, so no AoO. you can however, take an action. However, Disarm probably will not do much. The Spiked Chain IS what's binding Zamir rather than Grundle's weapon.
DM Beckett |
Um, . ..um,. . . Command, hum, hummn . . .
Danyn |
My trip from Redirection resolves before any of the Tiger's attacks, so I am not grappled in the first place, because I am not bitten, because the 20 becomes a 16 vs my 17 AC because the tiger is prone. So I don't get hit by anything and I get my AoO.
And if Grundle wants to CdG with that chain, he needs to be wielding it, so maybe disarm doesn't free Zamir, but it takes Grundle's hands off of it.
DM Beckett |
I'll double check in the morning, but I think the trip against the Tiger would have been next round. your first action was to trip Grundle, then Flurry of Blows, then you would have tripped next, but Kort killed it. I could be wrong. (getting so complicated.) Can you point me to Reposition to, I might be confused over that.
Arovandeon Isero |
Beckett, I believe Danyn is a Flowing Monk Archetype. They have a unique ability called Redirection.
Grundle Farbon PFS |
As I read it, it should follow: 1) Tiger attacks Danyn, who uses his Redirection ability to trip the tiger. 2) Tiger is tripped and Grundle starts his CdG, which provokes, and Danyn is NOT grappled because of his class ability Redirection, 3) Danyn disarms Grundle.
Now, there's some clarification needed for Disarm: A) It is not a melee attack, it is in place of a melee attack. Therefore, Grundle would not suffer the -4 for being prone. B) It IS a melee attack and therefore Grundle suffers the -4 for being prone.
Now, Disarming while unarmed imposes a -4 on the person rolling the Disarm check. The Monk class nor the Archetype gives any ability that modifies this. So Danyn's roll should be 1d20+1 instead of +5, so he would have rolled a 10. Which still wouldn't Disarm Grundle, even if he suffers the -4 from prone AND -2 from Grappled.
BUT. I'm fine if it DOES disarm him. :)
Danyn |
You are correct on the sequence. And you raise good points, but there are a couple of easy-to-miss factors we need to account for.
See combat for a clarification on CMD. Look for the following:
Any penalties to a creature's AC also apply to its CMD.
So you do take your prone and grappled penalties to CMD. Now see Improved Unarmed Strike. Look for the following:
You are considered to be armed even when unarmed
So Danyn does not take the usual -4 penalty.
In summary, Grundle is now disarmed before completing his CdG, and I believe it's my turn to act. :)
DM Beckett |
Sounds good to me, if you two are good with it.
