@ Gus - Happy to see you got into a game!
Thanks!
I appreciate your help back in Flaxseed! Looking forward to joining you over the next (several) sessions!
I am also glad we have so many skilled folks- as Sir Ischell is not quite the smartest person around these parts!

@Gus-a quick tip about gear...its a good idea to have a back up blunt weapon...morninstar is best bet...also later a way to deal with swarms and such....alchemist fire, holy water, acid and alkali flasks when you get more gold.
@Melora-I have a wand of CLW you can use....use it freely...just keep track of the charges

Flipped Longsword for a flail. That is easy enough and doesn't change my damage equations.
Ischell |
Well. It looks like Ischell is the only character to not have dumped Charisma. This should make for some interesting diplomacy RP!

Figured I would bring the discussion here but you should be able to get a non-masterwork composite bow with a str rating. It is still 200 for the base +1 though.(+100gp for each str rating)
Good news is it was FAQ'd that you can increase Str rating on a comp bow by paying the difference and not having to buy a new bow.
Mindartis Nightbreeze |
Cool! I could go with that. I really need to read more of the Equipment chapter to learn more. 200gp is no problem since this will be my 3rd chronicle sheet. Thanks for the info. =)

Yeah, I think the confusion was Gm Emmjay thinking you were making it a +1 Composite Longbow rather than a Composite Longbow (+1). It gets a little confusing as you will have a number up front (Magical Enhancement) and a number in the back (Strength Rating).

If we have a formal letter, I would just present the letter and say as little as possible.
If we are just showing up at a Dock without any warning and without an invitation, that is a harder interaction. We have "words spoken by" the queen- but without something written I doubt any dock customs agent is going to believe us if we say "We are pathfinders, but thats OK because the queen herself invited us".
I don't feel like I have a grasp over how us being pathfinders is going to fit into Cheliax... let alone what happens as a LG character running around in a LE nation.
I guess I am currently leaning towards something like this:
"We are here on official business for House Thrune, and our business is our own". If there is pushback on that, we can name drop Ianareth- since she is actually the inviting body. I still wouldn't mind avoiding the word Pathfinder if at all possible.
Would Lawmaster be able to support that?
As an aside: I don't usually like having long OOC conversations about plans. But in this case, our characters would have had several days at sea to talk, discuss, and come to agreement. Ischell would have ensured that everyone was on the same page before pulling into the dock. He just wants everyone to get along!
Lawmaster Malora |
Malora can agree to that if it's that we're invited by Ianareth on behalf of House Thrune, and she's still obviously stating she's a Lawmaster of Abadar and so on and such. She still thinks its lying to misrepresent yourself, but it's a good compromise.
Player wise, I'll go along with whatever the most players vote for, even if it's lying, but both player and character wise I think the truth is a better plan.
Vexin Clast |
Well Ischell has the plus of being human and lawful. It shouldn't be too much trouble unless he goes about lamenting the plight of halfling slaves. A lot of Chelish lean more on the law than the evil.
Vexin doesn't misrepresent himself he just gives the information asked and that is it. If they want more they can press for it. I too agree on telling them, initially we are adventurers here on invite from Lady Ianareth Alazario and are visiting the museum. All truths.
But player/character wise he has said his piece and will just make himself scarce if you elaborate more. The last thing he wants is more eyes on him as a ex slave.
Ischell |
Sorry guys. I guess thats a really bad time to roll a natural 1...
Lawmaster Malora |
Hey guys, just letting you know I've had a family emergency come up, and unexpected house guests. I will be unable to post Saturday. Hopefully, I should be able to post late Sunday night and again late Monday night. I will be able to post regularly by Tuesday. Sorry for holding up the game, and feel free to bot me as needed.
Thank you for your patience.
Ischell |
No worries! We have been on a holiday break anyways. I hope everything is OK.
Lawmaster Malora |
So our order is Vexin scouting ahead, then Elemenar with Mirielle, then Mindartis, then Doran and Malora. Or does Doran want to go last instead of Malora?
Ischell |
Maybe the corner of the building isn't the best place to go? Could you make it around back of the buildings and head south on the map to the lower bridge?
Vexin Clast |
Yeah, I was thinking of checking the roads so the group can get behind buildings. Head off any guards if need be. Then walk tandem with the group along the road. That is assuming, hopefully, they don't know what we look like or that we are helping.
Ischell |
Mindartis is welcome to stay in the room with me too, even right where he is at... if that would be easier than grouping him into the escape party.
Lawmaster Malora |
I figured we could go along the back of the building from the secret exit, so we can take the sloping road instead of that steep hill on the map, then hug the side of the building we're pressed up against. If Vexin sees its clear we could hurry the front door area of the building we're against across the road to the cover of the next building. Then Vexin need to check if it's safe to cross the bridge. When it is we can go and hurry to the cover of the small building. Then Vexin can check the last crossing and when it's safe we can scurry from the cover of the small building to the safe house.
Did that make sense? lol
Ischell |
I think so. These buildings need numbers... I think I'll do that
I would somewhat concerned that they posted a guard/observer at the house across from the fox den, or someplace they can see more of the Path Vexin is standing by.
Based on the (shiny new) numbers- Are you saying 2-1-5?
I would advocate Vexin staying where he is and playing interceptor/bouncer. The rest of the group go around 2, between 2-3, and then across the southern most bridge. Doran could play bouncer at the south bridge and vexin the northern.
I like the idea of thinning out a bit, though they probably have a good description of us. Who has a disguise kit we could use on the gal?
Lawmaster Malora |
I don't. A cloak with a hood was all Malora could manage. But I didn't get the impression we'd have time for much of a disguise anyway.
Checking map numbers... Yes. I was suggesting 2-1-5. She's also fine with going behind 2 to 3-4-5. I think we should go with whichever way Vexin's scouting suggests is the safer course.
Ischell |
“Best laid plans...”
Guess it doesn’t matter now... come on Vexin- you had one job!
I would imagine this is a tough scene in a face to face group, let alone in an asynchronous PBP...
GM Emmjay |
We are at the Big Bad for part 1. If you have anything you wish to change (or add) to your character sheet, let me know now. Especially if you want me to cross off something for your faction journal card and whatnot.
We should (without difficulty) finish this adventure before Christmas. We will start part 2 on/about Jan 3. This gives you plenty of time to spend with family and friends and NOT worry about PbP, and allows you time to add your character sheet info and do your buying and such....
Lawmaster Malora |
I have nothing I need to change, I don't think, though I will have stuff to purchase after the adventure is over.
I do have two questions regarding Faction Missions for this adventure:
First:
The Destined Acolyte's Scroll that I'm about to use when I have some space. Will it appear on the chronicle sheet? If so, does it counts as fulfilling the following faction mission: 'Gain access to a unique or variant item during the course of an adventure whose rules are printed on your Chronicle sheet.'
Second: Did the encounter where Ischell and I (and Doran) verbally engaged the Hellknights, and Ischell got arrested count as fulfilling this faction mission: 'Resolve a combat encounter nonviolently through bribery, diplomacy, trickery, or a similar tactic.'
Let me know if either count as fulfilling the mission requirements, please.
Thanks!
And thanks for the planned break for the holidays. I appreciate it.
Ischell |
I actually don’t know anything about these faction missions...
Can someone teach me? Thanks!

Faction Journal cards are a set of "bonus" objectives that players may or may not choose to complete, or attempt to complete each game session. They tend to fall in line with what the faction wants to do. Purely optional, they add a bit of extra "umph" or flavor to your character in how you can choose to play it.

For the first, I don't know enough about the scroll and such to comment, as far as #2, sure, totally works. You tricked the guard to arrest you and not chase after Mireille.......
And, as far as I know you can only cross off a single item each time, we will go with #2, at least for this adventure.
Ischell |
Thanks!!!
Lawmaster Malora |
Yup, you can only check off one objective per mission even if you could pass more than one. I'm checking off the second one then, thanks!
Ischell |
The break sounds good to me. I am planning on playing Ischell in 2 face to face games over this christmas break which puts me starting session #2 as a level 2 character. there will be some slight changes to his level one character, but nothing that dramatically changes his personality or party role.
Lawmaster Malora |
Due to an incredibly busy weekend filled with a Christmas celebration, two birthday parties, and many hospital visits, I will be unable to post from December the 16th through till December the 18th. My posting should resume as normal on Tuesday the 19th. Apologies if this slows down the game. Feel free to bot me as needed.
Due to the fast pace of PFS scenarios I'll try my best to sneak in a post on Sunday, but I can't promise anything.
Thanks for understanding, and have a great weekend, guys.
If both undead are destroyed before her next turn, Malora will instead fire her crossbow at the troll and reload it (+4 attack, 1d8+1 damage), repeating as necessary. She has precise shot, so she's not worried about firing into melee. She has no way to deal acid or fire damage to the troll.
If anyone's wounded she'll heal them with Doran's cure light wounds wand. It's currently full at 50 charges.
Thanks!
Ischell |
Have a good weekend Malora! I hope everything is well, especially with the hospital visits.
As an aside- my RL profession is hospital/medicine related. If there is any support or encouragement I can offer, by all means message me.
Lawmaster Malora |
Hey, guys! Happy to be back!
@ Ischell - Thanks, that's really helpful. I'll let you know if I need anything.
Lawmaster Malora |
@ Doran - I'm returning your cure light wounds wand still fully charged. Didn't end up using it on anyone.
@ GM - I'm spending 2 PP to get Malora her own wand of cure light wounds. Is there paperwork I need you to do to do so? Or just on my end on my tracking sheet and character chronicle? If there is more paperwork, I can do it at the start of the next scenario if it's easier for you. Thanks!
GM Emmjay |
All you need to do to buy the wand is just mark the -2 pp on your chronicle sheet and then add a line or two in your profile to track uses. If you do end up taking this character to a real game, there is a form you have to bring that basically physically tracks all items that cost gold. I forget off the top of my head how much, I think it's like 100 gold or something like that.
