Andrietta Ebonfeather |
Andrietta pumps her wings hard and moves to support Lissa on the party's flanking maneuver.
Double Move, gaining altitude as well as moving, if it's not high enough to clear treetops, move Andrietta closer to the frozen creek, please, as movement allows.
I realize that Senzar may not be appropriate, but Andrietta is treating the wood spirit fae-thing as a kami at the moment.
GM Dennis |
Watts pivots his study to the lizard left behind, striking swiftly and accurately. Andrietta, meanwhile, moves into position while calling to the kobolds. They jeer at the suggestion, while the dryad just tilts her head, trying to make sense of the tengu's words.
Lissa may act.
Lissa Villasani |
"I have no idea what you just said, Andrietta...." Lissa responds as the familiar oceanic death knell begins. She launchs the geyser at the front kobold, only for it to veer wildly off course. "... But... Bah..." She begins only to stop when she swings wildly.

Double Move.
Claw, spawn of Achaekek |
The kobold strikes Claw with his sword, but the Spawn of Achaekek is unharmed. Unless the Kobold's attack is Good-aligned.
Claw tries to maintain the grapple.
grapple: 1d20 + 10 + 4 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 4 + 1 + 5 = 37
Flying grappling is weird. On the ground you have to maintain a grapple to be able to move - for a flier with 8 limbs that makes less sense. I'm going to assume I need to maintain a grapple first in order to fly with the captive kobold, but I'm not really clear on if I could do damage by maintaining the grapple, then fly with a move action. Ugh.
Claw holds the kobold firm.
Moved half speed by succeeding at maintaining grapple, so no fly check needed..

I just noticed that my damage numbers are slightly off on my sabre attacks, above. I missed the enhancement bonus of +1 on each sword. I also omitted the ant focus benefit from my peck attack, so that hits AC20. Obviously hadn't had enough caffeine yet when I posted this morning!
GM Dennis |
The kobold strikes Claw with his sword, but the Spawn of Achaekek is unharmed. Unless the Kobold's attack is Good-aligned.
No, definitely not good aligned.
I'm not really clear on if I could do damage by maintaining the grapple, then fly with a move action. Ugh.[/ooc]
I don't see why not. I think that's fine.
-----
As Claw begins to carry away the kobold, Tooth reaches down to attack. His peck clangs off the kobolds armor, as does the sabre in his main hand, but the off-hand blade finds a weak spot, sinking deep into a seam in the kobold's armor. The knight lets out a cry, then goes limp in Claw's grip. Blue is down.

With that Watts turns his attention to the fight and the fey.

Lissa strikes once, twice, and both kobold bombers lay dead on the ground. They had 12hp each. Not sure why they're in this tier.

Kel once again admonishes the drake, this time unleashing two beams of righteous fire that strike true on the large creature, blistering and charring its icy flesh! They seem to do about 50% more damage than you might expect.

Kel sees Kaa struggling with the terrain and gets an idea. Utilizing the Agile Feet granted him by Apsu, he ignores the terrain and calmly walks to Kaa's side (intentionally provoking an AoO). Once there, he clasps his hand on Kaa's shoulder (if Kaa is willing) before activating his Dimensional Hop ability, teleporting them both right back to where Kel started with Kaa adjacent to the drake!
This all assumes that the drake doesn't crit/kill Kel and that Kaa is willing - this would use all of Kel's dimensional hop for the day but I'm totally fine with that in order to get Kaa up to the drake this turn if it's okay by you, GM.

I can't tell if the snowy area I'm in is difficult terrain. If it isn't, I would like to try to move around to flank the drake with a double move which looks to be 55 feet of movement. Let me know if there are issues along the way that need my attention or place me along where I would have run out my 60 feet of movement. If the area Watts is in is entirely difficult terrain, he will instead move to engage the dragon defensively.

"Well, fine work, travelers", the dryad says in common. "Thanks for taking care of those brutes. Ever since the white dragons from the north hatched that new clutch of wyrmlings, these little kobolds have gotten bolder. They're hunting so much right now, they're going wipe out whole species! Andrietta Ebonfeather |
Andrietta will land and fold her wings back behind her back while bowing over her quarterstaff held horizontally before planting it once more and leaning upon it.
"Andrietta Ebonfeather, chosen hand of Andoletta, Hero of Magnimar, Hero of the Five Kings, friend of Riddleywhipple the Faerie Dragon, and a whole bunch of other things I'm forgetting in my advancing years. We're up here as Mister Watts said, investigating old tales of a sacred force of goodness that came to these lands to clear out nastiness.
Given you're mentioning a recent clutch, it's more than likely that the two are related given that other things laid to rest years ago are stirring.
And it's not a good thing that they're wiping out species... everything has its place in nature, and taking too much of one thing out hurts everyone and everything that lives in an area.
How many seasons do you remember being here?" the grandmother inquires.
Kel-Aurthraxis Maleocorr |
Before approaching the fey, but after securing any unconscious enemies (so that if they wake up they won't re-initiate combat) Kel will channel to heal his allies (just in case this use of power is seen as offensive or even harmful to the dryad for whatever reason).

"I would concur that the kobolds will likely have a detrimental effect on the environment if they are allowed to continue. While I'm willing to offer aid against their encroachment, we are already committed to facing a lurking abomination that seeks to spread a plague of undeath through a tear between the planes."
"I want to doubt the groups are connected. There isn't much to indicate the kobold's drew power from Eshimka. Still, while I will argue for hesitation into pushing forward into battle with a second group, it may be their holds contain the clues on Ivvora's fate."
"Enzial, if I may ask, do you know anything of the dragon's of this land? We seek to know of a dragon named Grathatonhakis. I can't guarantee how much our group can afford to offer you, but I promise I will repay any knowledge you are able to grant."
Lissa Villasani |
Lissa listens to the dryad for a moment before turning to the others."Watts, what do you know about White Dragons? I'd love to know what all we're dealing with, I've never fought a dragon before, and I know you're ridiculously smart, so if anyone here knows anything, it's probably you."

Andrietta inquires in a respectful fashion. ...hasn't been here that long... a thousand seasons... that's... four hundred years...am I going to KEEP running into folks that are that much older than me on these missions for the Society? I mean... Old Man Mountain...eeesh...
Watts Helm |
"I would be grateful to speak them. I must admit it is interesting to try understand a fey mindset as it tends to be far outside how other races relate to the world. It is a unique and interesting puzzle."
Watts puffs up a bit being complemented and he takes some effort to ground himself.
"As for the subject of white dragons, I'm grateful to have your support. If we were Absalom I would be looking to direct you to experts in the fields as well as those far more knowledgeable than myself. At their base level, I would describe them much like the drake we just fought. Dragons mature at a much slower rate than mortals, and develop the bulk of their abilities later into their life. I would need to know how old the dragon is before giving a better description."
"At the very least I'm very interested to see how the temprament and manner of the white dragon compares to recorded accounts of others meeting them in the field."

"Hm, well it's not so much what, more of a how that you should watch out for. Vallahk can be...well, he can be kinda aggressive. It's no use talking sweet to him, or even around him; he hates that stuff. You can get him all worked up to if you show him you’re tough. Quiselle, though, she hates when he gets all riled up, and she's not gonna be happy if you encourage that kinda thing. If you want them to help you, you probably need to convince them both, though."
-----
Enzial leads you into a nearby cluster of birch trees so dense that it seems not even a sparrow could fly between them. As she approaches, the trees seem to leap aside, clearing a short path. Traveling this path causes the scenery to blur, as though each step were carrying you several miles at a time. After walking what feels like a few dozen feet, you arrive in a clearing surrounded by a living palisade of birch trees. At the center stands a lopsided oak tree with green leaves, and two regal fey sit atop the roots while holding court before several dozen other First World beings like dryads, pixies, satyrs, and awakened animals.
”Welcome, travelers” says the elf-like woman seated within, dressed in a gown of pine needles and crown of geraniums. ”We were just discussing the ‘dragon problem’, which I understand you have some interest in. Tell us, what is it you wish from us?” The oak’s branches twist and bend, creating a throne whenever she begins to sit.
”And why should we allow you to traipse around our forest?” interjects the man seated next to her. Regal and elf-like but for the birdlike wings covered with pine needles instead of feathers that extend from his back, he looks wild and very dangerous.
Here’s how this will work: You get a total of 12 checks between you to convince both of them to help you. The first 10 must be evenly distributed. That works out to mean everyone must do at least one check, and at least four of you must do two or more. The least balanced setup would be 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 4. You may each use the aid another action once during the encounter before they tell you to stop interrupting. Each has approaches that work well, and approaches that make them angry, even if used on the other person.
Feel free to ask any questions if this seems unclear. It's different from other influence scenarios.
