Rahm watches Oshessa carefully, alert for any sign that she might turn on them.

“Oh, Hinevera was right! That was a fascinating service, no wonder it exhausted you!” Charli enthuses. She has no training in mysticism or religion, but she knew that most churchgoers liked it when visitors praised their church. “Do you think we could record you sometime? That way you could get your message out to the stars.”
Bluff to feign interest in boring services with no singing: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
“Speaking of stars... We’re a bit worried about our fellow Starfinders from the Manta Corps. Do you know which way they went? I understand you were among the last people to see them off!”
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (16) + 7 + (5) = 28
Does Oshessa react here?
bigboom's SFS pregen |
"Yes, as I'm sure you'd worry about and do what you can should members of your flock disappear, we'd like to determine what happened to our fellow Starfinders. Any information you can provide us would be helpful."
Diplomacy, Aid Another: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Rahm Nine |
Rahm nods encouragingly, which is just about as diplomatic as he is capable of being.
Diplomacy Aid: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
Antoine Desilets |
bluff... just to keep a straight face seeing a walrus who does church.: 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (15) + 10 + (2) = 27
”You are right! You two! A clue about where they went would be of great help. But I don't think our host could help us.”
Antoine’s attention turns back to Oshessa.
”Oh! great Oshessa. Hinevera have proposed us to take all the society related item. We are almost finished. We would like to visit the relic room. We think that there could have items property of the society. In the same time, we could learn more about the weeping knight. He seems increasingly interesting. “
diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Also, as you are the envoy of the weeping knight, do you think he could help us find a specific mineral on this planet? This is a part of our mission.

Hawthorne the Innovator |

"I am certain that the Weeping Knight will appreciate your suffering through our questions so that you may enjoy your rest even more," Hawthorn comments dead pan.
GM Kate |
"Yes, Charli, that would be wonderful to spread the word of the Weeping Knight. I'm not sure which way they went; they did mention 'clophirium.' That's what you're asking about, Antoine? We don't really know where it might be." She chuckles at Hawthorne's joke.
"I could show you the reliquary in a little while, but for now I am quite tired. Perhaps after dinner?"
Charli Poshkettle |
“After dinner!” Charli shakes Oshessa’s flipper, cordially. “It’s a date!”
Once Oshessa retreats off to her room, Charli texts the others.
She’s being cagey and knows more about the kalos than she’s letting on. Are there old security cams that you can hack, Sophia? I want to see what’s going on in the Reliquary, or get a better map of this place. I’m worried that she’ll clean up before we get there, or set up a little surprise for us.
Mikkazuki Renchui Izado |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |
Nodding, Mikkazuki agrees. "After dinner should be fine."
Mikkazuki texts back "Let's make sure we have everything loaded into the submersible and make a log of what we have found out. We could also leave a copy of it on one of the security robots -- I'm pretty sure that Hawthorne can program it to deliver the message. Then we have about an hour to explore the surrounding area before Oshessa will speak with us. That should give us enough time to do at least a quick sweep of the area."
Hawthorne the Innovator |
"I'm afraid the only functioning computer systems are the datapads we found and the security robots," Hawthorne confesses. "I should be able to encode a message within the robots, if someone thought to look there for one."
bigboom's SFS pregen |
"Chk Chk and I are ready to do some exploring outside!" says Keskodai with a thumbs (?) up.
GM Kate |
"Very well. But I do hope you join the group for dinner afterward; I know Zavlig worked very hard to prepare the meal for you."
She returns to her quarters through the airlock to A8. The group heads out to the submersible, then investigates the perimeter of the lodge. While most of the damage to the exterior of the building has been repaired, there is one large crack, about the size of a human child, right net to the reliquary.
bigboom's SFS pregen |
Seeing the crack, Keskodai turns to the party and says, "Is everyone thinking what I'm thinking?"
Keskodai then turns to look specifically at Charli, saying, "That crack is about the size of a human child...or a gnome."
Keskodai gives Charlie a thumbs(?) up.
Mechanically, would us medium-sized characters be able to squeeze through into that crack?
Mikkazuki Renchui Izado |
Looking out the submersible’s viewport, Mikkazuki suggests “We best check the structural integrity before someone goes in there. Make sure it is sound.”
Can we do that with the scanners on the ship, or do we need to exit the ship and look at it?
Rahm Nine |
Rahm tries to make an educated guess at the structural integrity of the area where the crack is.
Engineering: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
GM Kate |
The crack is not in a load-bearing part of the wall. Charlie could wiggle through easily, but Medium creatures will have more trouble. (Out of combat, everyone can take their time to wiggle in, though.)
Rahm Nine |
Relaying his opinion, Rahm makes sure all his gear is stowed, with anything that may be ruined by water thoroughly protected. It only takes a second and he is ready to deploy.
Mikkazuki Renchui Izado |
Mikkazuki stares at the hole for a few moments.
"I suppose it would be bad form to use some shaped charges or something to enlarge it? I might be able to find some explosives in the weapons area..."
After a few moments, she sighs and adds "A girl can dream, right?"
Tapping her wristcomp, she says "Shall we have BOB lead the way? Might need a crowbar to fit it through there!" She then gets her gear ready for the excursion.
Hawthorne the Innovator |
"It might be less conspicuous if we sent Charli in, quietly," Hawthorne suggests over the comms, "Before we start making a racket."
GM Kate |
So that's several votes for the course of action to send Charli in, but I'd like to get an okay from Charli on that before I move you along!
bigboom's SFS pregen |
Keskodai chuckles. "Of course we'd be right with you! It'll probably take a little doing for us to squeeze through but we wouldn't send you alone unless you are confident that you can scout around unseen." Keskodai winks.
"Alternatively, yes, sending the drone in to take a first peek would be a safer option, I believe."
My first preference would be to send the drone in first and see what we can discover. Second preference is for everyone to just squeeze in and explore with the usual brave front-liners leading the way - unless Charli wants to go scouting in alone first but I would imagine that's more a job for a stealthy operative than a squishy envoy (no offense, Charli!)
Charli Poshkettle |
“Ooh... I would love to go!” Charli moves in!
bigboom's SFS pregen |
"Oh woah! She's quick!" Keskodai, as quickly as he can, moves in after her.
Rahm Nine |
Rahm follows close behind, ready to move in and support Charli even if squeezing through the crack will leave him exposed.
GM Kate |
Charli easily swims inside. An airtight semicylinder of glass reaching twenty feet high to the ceiling protects various decrepit tomes, a handheld computer, and a blood-encrusted, rusty spiked chain from the water that fills this chamber. An airlock exits to the east, while a steel door goes on to the west.
Everyone else coming in?
bigboom's SFS pregen |
Keskodai will head in and I believe Rahm does also. On the map, east is up, towards the library, correct? And west is down towards A8?
bigboom's SFS pregen |
Once Keskodai enters and observes the room's layout, he'll say on comms to anyone who remained outside, "It appears this reliquary also has a backdoor leading straight into Oshessa's private quarters. Interesting..."
Mikkazuki Renchui Izado |
Mikkazuki guides BOB in, following directly behind in case it needs a push at some point!
Rahm Nine |
Yes, Rahm enters right behind Charli. Am I missing the map link somewhere?
Mikkazuki Renchui Izado |
The link is SoDD Table 2 in GM Kate’s header.
Hawthorne the Innovator |
Hawthorne squeezes his way through the crevice--it takes a moment with his heavy armor--and surveys the gallery of relics.
"We probably could have asked to come in through the door," the engineer comments over the comms.
Antoine Desilets |
Antoine follows.
Ish... I feel that we are intruding... or I should clap my mouth when I talk to Oshessa.
Mikkazuki Renchui Izado |
“We had to check the damage to the structure.” Mikkazuki cheerfully notes as she stands near the center of the room. She isn’t even looking at the crack where the group came in.
GM Kate |
Hawthorne and Keskodai easily recognize the spiked chain as a Kuthite weapon.
Unfortunately, someone sees to have heard you come in, but not from the Lodge side. A sea snake pokes its head in through the crack and eyes you hungrily!

The smaller snakes, blue and red, are Arniselle dart vipers. The larger snake is an Arniselle sea serpent. No special defenses to speak of. They each have a venemous bite that does Dexterity damage on a failed Fortitude save.
